Citizens For A Strong America Provided Over 90 Percent Of <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Family Action’s 2011 Grants, Most Of Which<br />

They Then Spent On <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Elections. According to the Center for Media and Democracy, “Citizens for a Strong<br />

America, which was bankrolled almost entirely by <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Club for Growth cash, in turn funneled $916,045 to <strong>Wisconsin</strong><br />

Family Action in 2011, which was over 90 percent of the $1,009,616 in grants that the anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage group<br />

received that year. The group spent an estimated $850,000 on the Senate recall campaigns that year, and an additional<br />

undisclosed amount on the Prosser-Kloppenburg race.” [Center for Media and Democracy, 11/18/13]<br />

• <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Family Action Was Subpoenaed In The John Doe Investigation. According to the Wall Street<br />

Journal, “In recent weeks, special prosecutor Francis Schmitz has hit dozens of conservative groups with subpoenas<br />

demanding documents related to the 2011 and 2012 campaigns to recall Governor Walker and state legislative leaders.<br />

Copies of two subpoenas we've seen demand ‘all memoranda, email . . . correspondence, and communications’ both<br />

internally and between the subpoena target and some 29 conservative groups, including <strong>Wisconsin</strong> and national<br />

nonprofits, political vendors and party committees. The groups include the League of American Voters, <strong>Wisconsin</strong><br />

Family Action, <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Manufacturers & Commerce, Americans for Prosperity—<strong>Wisconsin</strong>, American Crossroads,<br />

the Republican Governors Association, Friends of Scott Walker and the Republican Party of <strong>Wisconsin</strong>.” [Wall Street<br />

Citizens For A Strong America Gave Almost $350,000 To <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right To Life Which Was 14 Percent Of The<br />

Latter’s Revenue. According to the Capital Times, “Citizens for a Strong America then directed a large portion of that<br />

money to socially conservative organizations. Most notably, it gave $916,000 to <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Family Action, a group that<br />

stridently opposes gay marriage and abortion, and $347,582 to the anti-abortion <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right to Life. Those contributions<br />

accounted for more than 90 percent of Family Action's revenue that year and roughly 14 percent of the revenue for <strong>Wisconsin</strong><br />

• <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right To Life “Enabled Its Political Action Committee Arm” To Support Walker In The Recall<br />

Election. According to RH Reality Check, “In less than three weeks, a monumental election will be held in<br />

<strong>Wisconsin</strong>, where for the first time the governor could potentially be recalled and replaced before his official term in<br />

office is ended. But anti-choice activists in the state are determined that doesn’t happen. To defend Republican<br />

Governor Scott Walker, anti-choice group <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right for Life has enabled its political action committee arm,<br />

dedicating web pages, videos and candidate bios on behalf of Walker’s candidacy.” [RH Reality Check, 5/18/12]<br />

• <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right To Life Email: Scott Walker’s Recall Success And Election Of GOP Majorities In State A<br />

“Silver Lining” In The 2012 Elections. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “Abortion opponents were<br />

disappointed by President Barack Obama's reelection and the ability of Democrats to retain control of the U.S.<br />

Senate. But <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right to Life noted in an email to supporters that the election also put all of <strong>Wisconsin</strong>'s state<br />

government in the hands of Republicans. ‘The silver lining in the November 6 elections is that <strong>Wisconsin</strong> has a rightto-life<br />

governor, Scott Walker, and strong right-to-life majorities in both houses of the Legislature!’ the group's email<br />

• <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right To Life Hoped To Further <strong>Wisconsin</strong>’s Abortion Restrictions. According to the Milwaukee<br />

Journal Sentinel, “The state's largest anti-abortion group sees opportunities to place further regulations on abortion,<br />

including requiring women seeking the procedure to view an ultrasound of her fetus. <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Right to Life is also<br />

proposing banning abortions that would cause pain to the fetus, barring abortions that are sought based on the sex of<br />

the fetus and prohibiting the ability of state employees to use their state health care plans to access abortions.”<br />
