Welcome to Stanford Medicine X, a multifaceted
program that represents a new way of solving health
care’s most pressing problems. Sown in the fertile
soil of Stanford University’s rich academic resources;
germinated at the grassroots level by passionate,
imaginative people; nurtured in the high-energy,
risk-taking environment of Silicon Valley, Medicine
X is an innovative way of re-imagining digital health,
medical education, clinical research, investing, and
more.

CARE INNOVATION, PATIENT ENGAGEMENT AND
EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
By turning issues inside out, and bringing all
stakeholders to the table at the beginning, we have
created a targeted, innovation-focused approach
that embraces and expands the contributions
of all, that brings elite researchers together with
empowered patients to create solutions that solve
problems, rather than generating solutions in search
of problems. Despite the fact that Stanford is our
birthplace, this is no ivory-tower approach. On
the contrary, our egalitarian approach leverages a
respect hierarchy rather than a credentials hierarchy
in service of a model that values all contributors
equally and ensures results in which participants feel
confidence, ownership, and pride.
THE MOST DISCUSSED ACADEMIC HEALTH CARE
CONFERENCE IN THE WORLD
The program’s foundation is Stanford Medicine
X, our groundbreaking annual conference on
health care innovation, patient engagement, and
technology. Despite being only five years old, this fall
convocation is the most-discussed academic health
care conference in the world. Now, through our
other program and service offerings, the Medicine
X approach is available to leverage in such diverse
areas as executive education, startup incubation,
and digital health investing.
