“Devguradia Shiva Mandir” is situated <strong>in</strong> the village of Devguradia, which is 8 km apart<br />

from the city on Nemawar road. It was built <strong>in</strong> the 7th century, formed from monolithic rocks.<br />

In the 18th century Ahilya Bai Holkar ordered <strong>to</strong> re<strong>co</strong>nstruct the temple. Popularly known as<br />

Garuda Tirth, the temple has an outlet <strong>in</strong> the form of Gom<strong>uk</strong>h. The water which is flow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

through the Gom<strong>uk</strong>h, falls on the Shiva L<strong>in</strong>gam. The orig<strong>in</strong>al Shiva L<strong>in</strong>gam is 12 ft <strong>in</strong> height<br />

and now under the water <strong>in</strong> sunken temple. The present temple is <strong>co</strong>nstructed on the hollow<br />

temple. On every Shivaratri, a fair is organized <strong>in</strong> the honour of the Lord Shiva.<br />

The “Lal Bagh Palace” is the one the most his<strong>to</strong>rian architectures, it was built by Maharaja<br />

Shivaji Rao Holkar dur<strong>in</strong>g 1886-1921. It is situated outside the skirts of the <strong>to</strong>wn. It hosted<br />

many receptions of the royal family, even <strong>to</strong>day it reflects many lifestyles and tastes of Holkar.<br />

“Krishnapura Chhatris” are the cenotaphs, built <strong>in</strong> the memory of Holkar rulers. It is<br />

located near the Rajwara, elegantly stands on the banks of Khan River. These cenotaphs are<br />

the <strong>to</strong>mbs built on the cremation spot of the rulers. You can visit these chhatris for an<br />

exquisite architecture.<br />

The “Rajwada” is a seven s<strong>to</strong>rey build<strong>in</strong>g built by the Holkars, two centuries ago. It is<br />

located near the chhatris <strong>in</strong> the ma<strong>in</strong> square of the city. It is a his<strong>to</strong>rical architecture blend<br />

with Maratha, Mughal, and French. You must visit this place; it is such a liv<strong>in</strong>g example of the<br />

magnificence of the Holkars.<br />

The “Kanch Mandir” as the name denotes, it is <strong>co</strong>mpletely de<strong>co</strong>rated with the beautiful<br />

glass work, built by Seth H<strong>uk</strong>umchand Ja<strong>in</strong>. Its hav<strong>in</strong>g the idols of Tirthankaras are flanked<br />

by mirrors on both sides, thus their images are seen <strong>in</strong>f<strong>in</strong>ite times.<br />

The city has numerous places <strong>to</strong> visit such as Annapurna Temple, Gomatgiri, Meghdoot<br />

Upvan and much, much more. You would like it whenever you will visit <strong>Indore</strong> and defiantly<br />
