PATROL
The members of the Patrol Division are responsible for providing 24/7 front line law
enforcement services throughout Woodland. The Patrol Division is the largest division in the
Woodland Police Department. It consists of the uniformed officers assigned to patrol duties.
Patrol officers are assigned to shifts formatted for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Currently there are 25 Patrol Officers, 2 K9 Officers, 3 Corporals, 6 Sergeants, 2 Field Community
Service Officers and 2 Lieutenants in the division. They ensure an immediate response to calls for
service and perform a w ide range of patrol duties including:
- Responding to calls for service: criminal complaints, motor vehicle accidents, recovery of
stolen property, public assistance calls and other incidents requiring a police response
- Apprehending criminals and w anted persons
- Enforcement of motor vehicle law s
- Working w ith the public to prevent crimes
The training of new officers after they complete the Police Academy and until they have met the
standards to be certified as law enforcement officers is the responsibility of the Field Training
Officer Program. This training consists of a 16 w eek program requiring the new officer to ride
w ith a minimum of three different field training officers.
