It has history around the 10th and 11th century. It has<br />

some most majestic monuments built <strong>in</strong> the reign of<br />

several k<strong>in</strong>gs, as Parmars, Allau – d<strong>in</strong> – khilji, Bahadur<br />

Shah of Gujarat, Sher Shah Suri, Mughal Emperor<br />

Humayu, and Baaz Bahadur.There are several<br />

amaz<strong>in</strong>g forts and amusement places, which is so<br />

fasc<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g and great example of human art and craft<br />

of history.Before Mughal, enters the Mandav – fort<br />

was known as one of the great forts <strong>in</strong> the <strong>co</strong>untry.<br />

One has to cross many doors dur<strong>in</strong>g the way <strong>in</strong>side,<br />

like – Alamgir, Bhangi darwaza, Dehli Darwaza,<br />

Kabaani Darwaza. Back of <strong>Mandu</strong> there are two ma<strong>in</strong><br />

doors as Songarh Darwaza and Tarapur Darwaza.


The Jahaz Mahal was built by the Sultan Ghiyas – UD – D<strong>in</strong> Khilji, between two artificial lakes; it is a<br />

two storied build<strong>in</strong>g architecture, served as harem, which houses a number of women. It is named so<br />

because it looks like a ship float<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the water.


The H<strong>in</strong>dola Mahal is a large meet<strong>in</strong>g hall, which means a sw<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g palace; the name reflects its<br />

sloppy walls. It might have been built dur<strong>in</strong>g the reign of Hoshang Shah about 1425 C.E. it is one of the<br />

set of royal palace <strong>co</strong>mplex <strong>in</strong> the town, which <strong>co</strong>nsists of Jahaz Mahal, the H<strong>in</strong>dola Mahal, the Tawili<br />

Mahal, and the Nahar Jharokha.


India’s first marble tomb structure was Hoshang Shah’s Tomb, which is beautifully carved with<br />

<strong>in</strong>tricate marble lattice work. The mausoleum is about 100 ft tall and 100 ft broad and topped over<br />

6.50 ft terrace. It is an Afghan style architecture monument.
