MANAGE MY ASTHMA PROGRESS
In 2016, the Asthma Foundation WA is excited to
launch Phase II of the Manage My Asthma public
awareness campaign to teach asthma management to
children with asthma and their carers.
The campaign delivers three key messages in a
child-friendly way:
1. Identification of asthma triggers
2. The importance of adhering to preventative
medication
3. Asthma control techniques
Generously funded by the Channel 7 Telethon Trust, in
2015 the campaign was created to raise awareness of
asthma and build asthma management skills for children
and their carers. A suite of educational videos were
developed and a children’s character named Puff the
Dragon, a high-profile brand personality representing
children with asthma, was born to deliver the campaign
message to kids. Puff has already made an appearance
in Perth at the 2015 Telethon Beneficiaries Expo and
will be out and about a lot more in 2016.
into the current educational sessions particularly at
Live Well With Asthma presentations targeting family
audiences and reinvigorating the school education
program for students, parents and teachers.
Puff will make special appearances at school events
and a collection of age-appropriate student sessions
will be created utilising Puff, his adventures and key
messages educating all students on the importance of
asthma management. Students will be able to find out
more information at the Manage My Asthma website
and be further engaged through a new Kids Club. This
club will be available to kids all over WA. There will be
ongoing communication through the club’s website and
by mail, which will reinforce the asthma management
message and also provide kids with asthma a sense of
belonging.
We look forward to introducing Puff to more kids
around WA, improving asthma management, and
helping kids with asthma live healthier and fuller lives!
For phase II, the Manage My Asthma campaign will be
promoted throughout WA and the campaign videos will
be shown on TV. The videos will also be incorporated
