2. <strong>India</strong> <strong>Hand</strong> <strong>Hygiene</strong> <strong>Market</strong> <strong>Outlook</strong><br />
<strong>India</strong> hand hygiene market stood at INR 544.8 Crore in 2015 and was growing with a CAGR of<br />
26.62% over last five years. The market is expected to reach INR 1360.8 Crore by <strong>2021</strong> with a<br />
CAGR of 15.81% in the next five years. <strong>Hand</strong> hygiene is broadly divided into two segments<br />
namely liquid hand wash soaps and hand sanitizer. Liquid hand wash capture 90.86% market<br />
revenues whereas hand sanitizers have only 9.14% market share in the overall hand hygiene<br />
industry. Reckitt Benckiser dominates the market with 46.4% market share, followed by HUL<br />
with 31.4% market share in 2015.<br />
Liquid hand wash market was growing with a CAGR of 27.95% over past five years and the<br />
market is further anticipated to increase from INR 495 Crore (2015) to INR 1198.6 Crore by<br />
<strong>2021</strong>. Dettol, from Reckitt Benckiser, accounted for 47% of the liquid hand wash market in 2015.<br />

More than half of the sales of liquid hand wash products are generated by institutional<br />
purchasers which has 50.2% market share in 2015, whereas the residential segment is<br />
accounting for 49.8% value share. Going forward, residential segment is likely to lead the liquid<br />
hand wash segment in terms of end users with 53.3% revenue share by <strong>2021</strong>. By packaging,<br />
pump pack dispenser control 50.2% market share, afterward refill pack which is contributing for<br />
39.8% share in 2015. <strong>Hand</strong> sanitizer products were growing with a CAGR of 16.7% over last<br />
five years and the market is further anticipated to reach INR 162.3 Crore by <strong>2021</strong>, registering a<br />
CAGR of 22.33%. Here also, Dettol leads the market with 40.2% market share and Lifebuoy<br />
capture 25.1% of the hand sanitizer market while Himalaya has a share of 14.8% and recently<br />
launched Protekt has a share of 12.2%. Institutional segment generates the largest revenue for<br />
the hand sanitizer products, which has 65.3% value share in 2015, and remaining 34.7% value<br />
