UPDATE<br />
L<strong>in</strong>ks have been made with FORWARD, the lead<strong>in</strong>g FGM campaign<strong>in</strong>g<br />
organisation. <strong>UNISON</strong> was able to provide assistance with<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation from Connect (<strong>UNISON</strong>’s lobby<strong>in</strong>g organisation) on<br />
parliamentary processes. The potential for jo<strong>in</strong>t work<strong>in</strong>g has also<br />
been identified, and a speaker has been <strong>in</strong>vited to address national<br />
women’s conference 2016. The Home Office/FORWARD leaflet<br />
about FGM is now <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the women’s health packs.<br />
<strong>UNISON</strong> is also support<strong>in</strong>g the Amnesty International My Body My<br />
Rights campaign, which <strong>in</strong>cludes work to eradicate FGM. Through<br />
this partnership work it is hoped to raise awareness of the issue and<br />
signpost sources of help for members who may encounter young girls<br />
at risk of FGM.<br />
2.4 International<br />
Motion 34 : Beyond the European elections – what happens next?<br />
Highlighted the importance of work after the general election to work <strong>in</strong>ternationally to<br />
defend workers rights and to defeat the far right. Called on the NWC to work with the<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational department on appropriate campaigns; consider develop<strong>in</strong>g tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g on<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational solidarity campaigns; work with other SOGs on jo<strong>in</strong>t campaign<strong>in</strong>g on equality<br />
rights; signpost <strong>in</strong>formation on anti hate crime campaigns <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g ILGA Europe’s website.<br />

Motion 39 : Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership<br />
This motion was not reached. It reported on the potential damag<strong>in</strong>g impact on public<br />
services and workers’ rights as a result of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment<br />
Partnership (TTIP). Called upon the NWC to work with appropriate bodies, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational unions, to campaign aga<strong>in</strong>st TTIP and to raise awareness of its implications.<br />

TTIP, or at least to<br />
protect public<br />
services from the<br />
worst impact.<br />
UPDATE<br />
The NWC submitted a motion to Local government conference which<br />
was carried and that work therefore becomes the property of the<br />
service group. The TTIP motion on the NDC agenda also carried and<br />
will therefore be taken on board <strong>in</strong> the national work programme.<br />
The 38 Degrees TTIP campaign has been promoted on Facebook and<br />
through women’s networks. <strong>UNISON</strong> news items and the call to write<br />
to MEPs on vot<strong>in</strong>g on TTIP (part of TUC go<strong>in</strong>g to work campaign) have<br />
also been promoted via social media.<br />
