Project of the Applied Arts Pavilion
come?
impegno su scala davvero mondiale e inclusiva?/Following the agreement
between La Biennale di Venezia and the Victoria and Albert Museum, the
exhibition explores the threats facing the preservation of global heritage sites
and how the production of copies can aid in the preservation of cultural
artifacts. With that comes a host of diffi cult questions: What do we copy and
how? What distinguishes a bad copy from one with lasting value? What is
the relationship between the copy and the original in a society that privileges
authenticity? And how can such an effort be properly coordinated at a truly
global and inclusive scale?
School of Economics Cities, in view of The United Nations Habitat III.
Sviluppa tre temi: come
pavilion will provide the visitor with insights on the major trends and confl icts
experienced today in the urban realm. The exhibition addresses three issues:
how have cities transformed over the last 25 years, what are the effects on
public space, inequality and informality, which models of urban planning
demonstrate resilience over time.

ARESENALE
Arsenale Nord, Spazio Thetis
26 maggio - 27 novembre
May 26 - November 27
Gangcity documenta il fenomeno di
cluster urbani sottratti a ogni forma
di controllo della legalità, al fine di
attivare processi di riappropriazione
e cura degli spazi privati e pubblici.
Il progetto è volto a rivelare la
reciproca influenza tra la violenza
e la geografia delle città, prestando
particolare attenzione alle gang
come gruppi primari che nascono
e si diffondono nei ghetti urbani,
the phenomenon of urban clusters
devoid of any kind of legal controls,
in order to enable processes of reappropriation
and the care of private
and public spaces. The project aims
to reveal the reciprocal influence between
the violence and geography of
cities, paying particular attention to
the gangs as primary groups born
in and spread throughout the urban
Per secoli Sarajevo è stata crocevia
e frontiera urbana. Come è accaduto
ad altre città trasformate da una crescita
esponenziale o da una decrescita
improvvisa, la Sarajevo postbellica
affronta oggi le sue peculiari modalità
di pratica informale. La mostra è iniziativa
di «Reactivate Sarajevo», frutto
della collaborazione tra ETH di Zurigo,
comune di Sarajevo e Museo storico
della città/For centuries Sarajevo has
been a crossroads and urban frontier.
Like other cities transformed by
exponential growth or unanticipated
shrinking, post-conflict Sarajevo is
confronted with its very own modes
of informal practice. The exhibition is
part of the initiative “Reactivate Sarajevo”,
Hong Kong è una città conosciuta
per la sua versatilità ed elasticità;
ma ciò che si percepisce nella vita
ambientali, scientifici.
contesto ambientale). La riflessione
parte dalla storia e in particolare
dalla storia del vicino Oriente, scritta
attraverso una capsule collection, una
rara collezione di oggetti in giada, per
ottenere da essa una lezione e principi
tradotti in riflessioni sull’ambiente
umano attraverso i linguaggi contemporanei
della ricerca scientifica
e dell’arte/Living – or the inherently
architectural datum thereof – as the
research for a better quality of life. Today,
it cannot but be influenced by social,
cultural, geo-political, historical,
environmental, scientific factors. The
project revolves all around man and
evolution with respect to the primary
architectural environment, that is living
space (the body) and a space to
live in (the environment). Our reflection
starts with history, the history of
the Near East in particular, and writes
it by means of a capsule collection,
a precious collection of jade artefacts
– symbol of protection of the individual
from curse and hazard. Hence, a
lesson and principles to understand,
translated into the contemporary languages
of art and scientific research.
