Office
Show at
ExCel
Last month we
attended the Office
Show at ExCel.
The two-day exhibition, which is the UK’s
No.1 event for Personal Assistants, Executive
Assistants, Virtual Assistants and Office
Managers, includes over 125 exhibitors
showcasing their latest products and services.
With assistants being the primary bookers
of travel for senior executives across the
nation, it’s a great opportunity for us to
promote the airport. A big focus for us
was endorsing the London City Airport
Premier PA Club, an exclusive, free to
join club open to London-based PAs,
EAs and Office Managers. Specialising
in business travel, the Premier PA Club
Health Tip
As the summer approaches and
temperatures rise it’s important to
stay hydrated at work.
Drinking plenty of water throughout your day will keep your energy
levels up as well as boost your immune system, help maintain healthy
skin and ensure that your liver stays healthy. You should aim for at
least 2-3 litres per day. Keeping a bottle of water at your workstation or
close by, having a glass of water with every meal and sipping on water
throughout your day can help you to stay hydrated and healthy at work.
Julian Dominique is a personal trainer and
massage therapist who visits LCY every Friday.
Security search lanes upgrade
Following the successful
introduction of Gen 2
security lanes in Central
Search, the system will now
be rolled out to all lanes.
The new technology was
introduced to help Security
handle increasing demand
and deliver the best
experience for passengers.
The first lanes have been a
great success, processing
an average of 640 trays
per hour, compared to 340
on traditional lanes. All
remaining traditional lanes
in Central Search and North
Search will now be upgraded
to Gen 2, with completion
scheduled by the end of July.
Going into the summer
season we will be fully
and Bryn Owen from the Commercial Team.
Providing giveaways on the day were our
airline partners, CityJet who also manned
the VIP Lounge with crew members.
equipped to process high
volumes of passengers
through Security and keep
queues to a minimum,
maintaining the airport’s
customer proposition of
20 minute check-in from
door to departure lounge.
Congratulations to the
Lucky Prize Draw Winners
Last month every employee received a print of the
airport by Gerry Buxton, each print included a serial
number that was entered into a prize draw to win
flights from LCY up to the value of £500. At a recent
Staff Committee meeting, the lucky winners were
randomly drawn using an online code generator.
Congratulations to:
Everyone’s favourite East End bad boy Grant
Mitchell made a surprise return to Albert Square
last month.
Flying in from the Algarve to visit Peggy and Phil,
he arrived at the only airport actually in London.
We saw shots of Canary Wharf, a plane landing at
the western end of the runway and the ‘Welcome
to London City Airport’ sign on the side of the
Fire Station.
Did you know, that all staff on
site are responsible for reporting
accidents or hazards at work?
Anything from a wet spillage, blocked
fire exit, personal injury or potential
hazard has to be reported.
There are different ways to do this depending
on where you are. You can speak to a Terminal
Manager or Terminal Health and Safety
Coordinator if your landside or go into the AOSU
department for Airside reports. You can also
phone LCY Health and Safety on 0329/0082.
If you’re online, you should use the
SHE portal located on the intranet/
Health & Safety/ or https://sheassure.net/
londoncityairport/Portal/Portal/Index
It’s a straightforward process and just requires a
few details like time, location and type of hazard.
This is then reviewed and investigated by the
New seats
It’s no secret that we need more
space and seats in the airport.
The first phase of West Pier which opens later
this month will make a significant impact, but
before that we’ve installed 33 new seats next
to the check-in desks and 96 on the East Pier.
Giving passengers the option of a quieter, more
secluded area to sit in, the chairs on East Pier
are facing the newly installed FID screens.
If you’re in the terminal during peak
periods, we encourage you to promote
the new seating area to passengers.
Reporting accidents and hazards
– The SHE Portal
Health and Safety Team and the Airside Safety
Team and feedback is given on the outcome.
For serious hazards that need immediate
attention you should call 0000 csc desk.
For accidents you should call 0000 csc
dept Landside / 0241 Aosu dept Airside.
The Portal is also used for filling out
DSE forms, used yearly for office
based staff to monitor wellbeing.
