Scouring the market for aged
whiskies is fast becoming a
popular past-time for malt
drinkers. But for those who
prefer to spend more of their
time actually imbibing a dram,
single-malt producers The
Macallan (famous for sherry oak
cask aged whiskies) has released
a new expression – the Edition
No. 1. Marrying eight European
and American cask styles
carefully sourced by their Master
of Wood, Stuart Macpherson,
from various cask suppliers,
the whisky shows warm notes
of dried fruit and apple, before
finishing in hints of cinnamon
and toffee. To show the influence
casks have on crafting whiskies,
a new edition will be released
every year. Retails for $190,

Rap Whiskey
Following the footsteps of celebrities who front their own
alcohol labels (i.e: P Piddy’s Ciroc vodka, Jay-Z’s Ace of
Spades champagne, and even George Clooney’s Casamigos
tequila), Canadian rapper Drake has been teasing the
Internet with a new bourbon release called Virginia Black.
While not much
else is known about
it, the arrow-cut,
silver topped glass
bottle sure looks
luxurious. The
rationale? Because
he believes that
“everyone should
have access to
glamour, swagger
and soul”.

their first year
with a twomonth
long drink
extravaganza, with cocktails concocted by
some of the island’s most prolific bartenders.
The drinks will feature elements inspired by
our sunny island, so you can expect names
like Chop Chop Lah, and Kiasu Kaya. Now
you have more reason to check in early. The
event runs until June 30.
