DESCRIPTION
A moderate sized, straggling bamboo forming open clumps.
Culms with long internodes. Culm-sheaths 15-30 cm long
and 15 cm broad, striate, glabrous except for a few stiff
black hairs below; imperfect blade triangular, 5-7.5 cm long,
sharply mucronate, decurrent at the base into rounded
recurved entire wings lining the whole of the upper edge of
the sheath; ligule faintly serrate. Leaves 15-22.5 cm long and 2.5-3.5 cm broad linear, lanceolate, acuminate, unequally
attenuate, ending above in a twisted scabrous point, scaberulous near the
margin and midrib above, smooth below, edges scabrous; sheath striate,
ending in a pair of shining calluses with a depression between; ligule long,
serrate. Inflorescence a large panicle of spicate branchlets bearing
globular heads of many spikelets, heads up to 5 cm diameter, rachis striate.
