BUSINESS AND
MANAGEMENT
BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Two Similar, Yet Different Degrees
The Business Administration and Management
degree plans share some of the same course
requirements, but differ in key aspects:
Business Administration focuses on a diverse
curriculum by requiring business law, marketing
and additional accounting and economics
coursework—above and beyond the business
and management courses. The intent is for
students to develop a wide range of knowledge
that would be used in entrepreneurial ventures,
small business development and
corporate-level careers.
Management focuses on supervising,
human resources, and decision making with an
additional concentration on job-related growth
and development including up to 12 college
credits for job-related learning; that is, applying
the skills you learn in your current work setting
(must be working). The intent is to develop
management skills that lead to employment,
job enrichment, and upward mobility in
your career.
WELDING
TECHNOLOGY
WHY WELDING?
Welding is both a technical skill and a creative art with many
different applications. Eastfield College’s program can help
you train for all aspects of welding. The three certificates are
designed to provide opportunities for students to develop skills
necessary to qualify for plate or pipe certifications in accordance
with the American Welding Society (AWS) or American
Petroleum Institute (API) welding procedures. These same skills
may be applied to creative endeavors.
Students develop the skills sets required of the various arc
welding processes and the oxyacetylene and plasma cutting
processes. Some topics covered include
• Welding Safety
• Characteristics of Metals
• Welding skill set development
• Blue Print Reading
• Pattern Layout
• Fabrication
Career paths in welding include
• Construction and Manufacturing
• Distribution and sales
• Inspection and Certification
• Teaching in high schools, trade schools or community colleges
• Technical sales
• Artistic welding such as metal sculpture, decorative ironwork
and outdoor furniture
With demand for skilled welders rising and the technology of welding
becoming more advanced, students have a unique opportunity to
learn a career that can be shaped around their interests.
