Welcome to The Tech Academy of Arts, Athletics, and Trades. We are a new facility in an old, heritage building (1921). Blending the old and the new allows us to learn from the past and to be prepared for the future. Director's Message In Classical Greek mythology, the Titans and Titanesses were the children of the god of Heaven and the goddess of Earth. These deities were known for their incredible strength. Today, by definition, a titan is someone who is of great strength, intellect, or importance; powerful and influential in their certain field. We are The Tech Titans, and students who graduate from here are forever Titans. We aim to prepare our students to be the titans of tomorrow, in sport, business, industry, and/or the arts. We have found that students learn best when they are engaged in the subject material. As such, we are offering a wide variety of academic, athletic, artistic, and technological programming, all focussed on excellence in small class environments, to light the sparks and fires within. Where we as an institution are notable, standing like a titan above the rest, however, is that students won't have to choose between academics and athletics, here we have built a flexible program to allow for excellence in both. Specifically, our sports academy is geared to the serious athlete who wants to hone their academic and athletic skills in tandem, so that they are prepared to take their game, and their academics to the next level. We house a full dryland training facility where we will perform baseline testing, a chiropractor, athletic physiotherapist, massage therapist, and the program will also encompass personal training. We have created a rigorous schedule that is flexible enough to blend academics, with practices, training, nutrition, and games. We aim to create well-rounded academic student athletes, by providing a variety opportunities in the arts, and in the trades. We believe that we have crafted an environment and program that offers a truly world-class educational experience to prepare the leaders of tomorrow artistically, athletically, and academically. COURSE CALENDAR 2016-17 About the Academy The Tech Academy of Arts, Athletics & Trades, is located in the heart of downtown Sault Ste. Marie. Pulling from the past of our heritage building, we look to the future, through modernized facilities, and a flexible, achievement-oriented program. While the building is nearing a century old, it is equipped with the latest security technology. There is 24-hour security and surveillance and a lockdown system for student and staff safety. In our sports academy, our dual-focus on athletics and academics allows students to give their best in the classroom and on the court/ice/field, never having to choose between two passions, and not forsaking one for the other. The Tech Academy also offers residence and nutritional plans for students as required. We believe that every learner can reach their full potential as athletes, academics, and leaders in their own right, through guidance, support, and encouragement.
