Chaplain's Corner
SOG's. Standard Operating Guidelines. Usually,
when I hear this term the response is
ugh. They are issued to us by
the Lt's or Battalions to keep
everyone on the same page.
They're supposed to guide
behaviors so that in whatever
situation is being covered, no
one get's hurt. The guidelines
sometimes seem restricting or
limiting and we don't like to be
restricted by others. The officers
want all behaviors to be similar and
predictable because they want us to
be safe.
I sometimes hear people talk about the Bible in the
same way as SOG's. They think it is restricting and
limiting. They don't like that it talks about the
behaviors that we shouldn't do. Psalm 119:105 says,
"Your word (the Bible) is a lamp to
my feet and a light for my path."
The Bible has been given to us by
God to show us the way and to be
the light that illuminates the
things that we should pay
attention to. I would suggest
that we should all pay a little
more attention to the Bible's
wisdom and allow it to point
us in the right direction.
Blessings,
