Hamdard, in the function,
not change the destiny of a
Bungling in
state-run varsities
needs serious probe
KARACHI, Aug 23: A
shameful fake degree scandal
of Federal Urdu University
of Arts, Science and
Technology (FUUAST) has
further stressed the need to
purge the state-run universities
of Sindh including
Karachi from the corrupt elements
that are ruining these
national institutions.
Students, parents, teachers
and civil society have been
demanding for long to launch
a high-level probe against a
mafia of politically-backed
very senior officials of the
government-run universities
of Sindh who are allegedly
involved in mega corruption
scams. They regret that so far
the police, rangers, FIA and
NAB are not taking strict
actions and disclosing mega
corruption of these crooked
elements as they still enjoy
considerable political support
and patronage.
It needs a through thirdaudit
into the appointments,
postings, procurements,
scholarships and contracts of
the government-run universities
of Sindh for last 20 years
so as to unearth mega corruption
of billions of rupees and
other serious cases of mismanagement
including fake
degrees.
The universities are institutions
of our future building
and corruption and irregularities
in them should be not
tolerated.
