Star-Studded
Dining Event
MICHAEL CHILDERS’
HOLLYWOOD DINE AND DISH
PALM SPRINGS – AIDS Assistance Program – Food Samaritans (AAP) announces
the return of an exclusive, star-studded event in support of its vital food voucher
program. Hollywood Dine and Dish III will take place at 7 pm on Saturday,
October 29, 2016 at a private estate in Palm Springs.
Presented by fervent AAP supporter, successful producer and award-winning
Hollywood photographer Michael Childers, the Master of Ceremonies for the
evening will be none other than Emmy Award-winning lifestyle and real estate
correspondent Michael Corbett. This one-of-a-kind evening reveals saucy
secrets of Hollywood stars by celebrity guests including Tony® nominee and bon
vivant Sharon McNight, hilarious actor and comedian Alec Mapa, and Emmy
Award winning comedy writer Bruce Vilanch. Billed as the ultimate Hollywood
experience, Hollywood Dine and Dish III will include hors d’oeuvres, premium
cocktails, and an exquisite dinner, along with MORE Tinsel Town dish that’s too
hot to print!
“When Michael Childers first created this event for us in 2013, we were elated
with the response,” stated Mark Anton, Executive Director of AIDS Assistance
Program – Food Samaritans. “With its reprise in 2014, we enjoyed the stories
of charming and saucy Ms. Jackie Collins. This year, Red Hot Mama Sharon
McNight – one of the few real women to impersonate Bette Davis – is joining us,
as is Alec Mapa, whom Ellen Degeneres has called “smart, hilarious and funny.”
AAP receives no federal or state funding, relying on the generosity of private
donors and other organizations. Currently there are more than 500 clients who
rely on AAP for food twice each month, and a waiting list for services. That list
includes some of the Coachella Valley’s most desperate neighbors who struggle
to maintain their strength and well-being. Donations from the community are
critical so that AAP may continue to provide these services and hopefully reduce
the waiting list.
“A big ‘Thank you’ to Michael Childers for bringing together such an illustrious
group for this event,” added Anton. “It will be a delightful evening filled with
never-heard stories of Hollywood escapades!”
Mingle with these Hollywood insiders for an outrageous, saucy, ribald, and
totally hysterical evening. Hors d’oeuvres, premium cocktails, and an exquisite
dinner will be served.
Tickets for Hollywood Dine and Dish III are $500 per person or $750 per
couple. This event is sure to be funny, raucous, and always sells out. For
more information and to purchase tickets, please call 760-325-8481 or visit
aidsassistance.org. The address of the private venue will be provided upon RSVP.
Now in its 25th year of service to the community, AIDS Assistance Program of
Palm Springs remains dedicated to providing nutritional support to improve the
quality of the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses.
Initiated by a small group of concerned citizens led by the late Gloria Greene
and Jeannette Rockefeller, AAP provides nutritional support to members of the
community with low incomes. For more information, please call 760-325-8481
or visit aidsassistance.org.
BRUCE VILANCH
Bruce Vilanch has been wandering in the desert for more than forty years, but
he manages to settle down every now and again for a benefit. Winner of six
Emmy Awards, and loser of four, he has scripted 23 Oscar telecasts and a lot
of other television that you have been simultaneously ashamed and delighted
to watch. For six years, he resided to the left of Whoopi Goldberg, if that is
possible, as a Hollywood Square. For two years, he donned the pantyhose of
Edna Turnblad in the national tour and Broadway production of “Hairspray.” He
is also a songwriter and the star of his own one-man show, which stopped at
the Annenberg Theater a few years ago. This spring, he will be in San Francisco
starring in a new revival of Cole Porter’s “DuBarry Was a Lady” in a role
originated by Bert Lahr, one of whose signature characters his follicles bear a
passing resemblance.
ALEC MAPA
Ellen Degeneres has called Alec “smart, hilarious and funny,” and Variety has
said, “Alec Mapa is a freak. No one should be this talented.” With uproarious
live performances and groundbreaking television roles, actor and comedian
Alec Mapa has entertained audiences worldwide in every imaginable medium.
He has guest starred on more than 40 television series, including “Alias,”
“Friends,” “Roseanne,” “Seinfeld,” and “NYPD Blue.” He played network
television’s very first gay Asian series regular role on the CBS sitcom “Some Of
My Best Friends.” and starred in four seasons of the UPN sitcom “Half & Half.”
He played “N’Cream” in the wildly popular drag queen musical “Connie and
Carla,” and has also appeared in “Playing By Heart,” “Marley & Me,” and “You
Don’t Mess with the Zohan.”

Comic Con’s kick-off at Lulu California
Bistro in downtown Palm Springs was
one of the best parties surrounding this
amazing event that saw thousands upon
thousands of superhero and comic book
fans flocking to Palm Springs. Proving,
what I have been saying all this year,
Palm Springs is on the rise!
Props to the super duper BB Ingle from bringing this crazy, colorful
carnival to the city. And there was I thinking August was a bad idea… The
triple digits didn’t deter fans from lining up around the block to catch a
glimpse of Mr. Marvel himself, Stan Lee.
As I arrived at the kickoff party at Lulu’s my first sighting of superdom was
of Steve Henke who was posing proudly with a Stormtrooper. Scene by
Sean just had to jump in that picture.
I attended the event with LIVE Magazine’s covergirl - KESQ news anchor
Bianca Rae, former “coverboy” in drag - Alfie Pettit and social
media expert Rob Grace.
David Reese, Bryan Gallyot
Artists, co-players, media and local VIPs sampled the offerings enjoying
the live-action pasta station, taco bar, and of course new superherothemed
cocktails and specialty drinks were being knocked back like
nobodies business which included The Hulk Margarita, The Superman
and The Dark Knight — created for the weekend’s first ever Comic Con
Palm Springs.
I even spotted The Joker (Chris Bluhm, Lulu’s bar manager) at the top
of the staircase posing with two gals dressed as space co-pilots (Lisa
Glam and Ann Green), and others as Spiderman, Superman, Superwoman,
various aliens and comic characters. It seemed as if everyone in
this glorious was getting into the Comic Con spirit for this fabulous event.
Notable attendees included: Mayor Robert Moon, KMIR News
Director David Reese and KMIR Reporter Bryan Gallyot, The
Incredible Hulk himself Lou Ferrigno, Sabastian Reich, Ryan
Manos and his fiancé, Model Katarina Reveche, Nicky Faeth,
Actor and former professional American football star Fred Williamson,
nicknamed “The Hammer”, “Flash Gordon” Sam Jones, Fred “The
Hammer” Williamson, Comic Con Palm Springs Founder Christopher
Spellman, Cathedral City Mayor Stan Henry, Lulu California Bistro
owners Jerry and Barbara Keller and so many more.
And Comic Con, 2016 truly was a fun filled weekend full of KEPOWs,
WHAM’s and BANGs!
Eric Turcio
Discovering A New
Destiny in the Desert!
I’m generally a skeptic when it comes to believing in what mediums, psychics
and Tarot readers have to say. Sure, I’ve been to many in the past,
usually when I have broken up with a boyfriend or gone through emotionally
troubled times seeking reassurance about my future. Most of it was
costly and totally hogwash!
However, recently I met Eric Turcio – a nice enough chap who, like me,
is also from the world of broadcast news journalism. Eric was moving
to the Desert to develop a skill he had discovered within himself and
reached out to me via Facebook to say hi. His intention was to make
new friends upon his arrival. What drew Eric to me… Destiny? Of course
being the ever curious and notoriously good investigator that I am, I did
my research on Eric and discovered his career was one hundred percent
kosher. He is, was, a successful news personality.
Turcio was a general assignment reporter for KTVM in Bozeman, Montana.
He is a Connecticut native who has lived on both the East and West
Coasts working in broadcasting. Eric graduated from Quinnipiac University’s
School of Journalism in Connecticut and was actually the main anchor
for four years at Quinnipiac Broadcast Center. I discovered that Eric
interned at WTNH in New Haven and WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut. So
this guy is a REAL news dude. Eric’s resume is tiptop!
Eric explained his passion for news began at the age of 14 after he
contacted a local anchor in Connecticut asking her questions about news
casting. From then on he always wanted to be a reporter. Aside from reporting
the news, his hobby was ballroom dancing. Eric has danced since
the age of five, competing all over the United States and winning various
championships.
This is what I love about Palm Springs. Just recently, and noticeably,
there has been an influx of creative talent arriving here. New faces and
cool people are popping up everywhere. Eric is an example of one them.
I guess I am too. The talented bunch is bringing a fresh approach to the
city making it easy to collaborate and build a new Palm Springs. There’s
a certain new eclectic crowd I have dubbed “the pops” – (The People
of Palm Springs, and yes, I came up with that) We all have fun working
together and bringing new ideas for building a brighter tomorrow.
It is a very exciting time to be one of “the pops” and it is very exciting
to introduce Eric Turcio into the fold. He and his partner, Matthew
Thompson, met in Boston, and both lead successful careers. Together
they moved to California in 2014. Living in Laguna Beach, they became
Orange County socialites who participated in various fundraising events.
I introduced the charitable couple to the board at Equality California (EQ/
CA) and Matthew has since joined our committee here in Palm Springs.
This is an example of their passion to help people.
I reached out to Eric, as I was interested in hearing more about his newfound
gift - as a Medium/Spiritual Healer. Since moving to the Desert,
Eric has relocated his spiritual healing practice - Angel Messages By Eric,
which opened its doors mid-last year in Palm Springs.
The practice sees Eric travelling all over the US as an inspirational and
spiritual speaker from his own personal experiences. He delivers messages
from loved ones in spirit and reconnects them with their love ones
in “this” life.
I can somewhat vouch for Eric’s abilities. There’s something there. Not
sure what it is. Like I said earlier, I am definitely a skeptic. But my reading
with Eric was off the charts. I had asked him to contact my father who
passed on a little over three years ago. To be honest, I’m not sure who in
the spirit world Eric was talking to, but my mother’s name came up quite
clearly (note: my mother is still alive). During our reading, Eric said to me
“Who’s Mary?” From then on Eric had my attention.
So why and how did Eric, with a successful in career in news become a
Medium/Spiritual Healer and end up living in Palm Springs?
LIVE Magazine is just dying to know!
So readers, let’s discover all about Eric’s ‘Destiny in the Desert!’
Sean Borg: What compelled you to switch from your successful TV
news career on the East Coast and Northwestern to open your own Mediumship
and Spiritual Healing practice?
Eric Turcio: “Well, Sean, that’s a great question that I don’t think I
could answer in just this one issue of this magazine, ha-ha! This ability
of mine to see, hear, sense, feel, touch, and communicate with those in
spirit has always been a part of my life since I was 5 years old. I had an
incredible awakening while I was working at a TV station in Montana. I
was out reporting on a late breaking story and boom -- my eyes immediately
became fixed on the sky. My Guides spoke to me in that moment
saying I was meant to be a ‘communicator.’ But my gifts were meant to
help people in a different way. I had to go to Southwest Montana to have
this spiritual awakening. I couldn’t ignore it. And I finally listened to this
very powerful inner voice. I felt all my current fears about my job and life
completely disappear. I no longer had this knot in the pit of my stomach.
I felt on that warm Montana August day, I did not have to be anything
less than who I truly was. I left television news (a very difficult decision to
make) and trusted my inner voice that my life would be guided. Now, I’m
here in Palm Springs full-time and I truly love it. I feel so at peace here.
And my gifts have flourished since our move to the Desert on May 5,
2016.
SB: You and your partner, Matthew Thompson, have been together just
about four years and now just landed here in Palm Springs, CA. How did
that come about?
ET: It’s simple: love. After we met, Matthew and I knew we needed a
change in our environment to build a happier and healthier life together.
Who wouldn’t want to be in Laguna Beach? It was there Matthew started
his own pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance consulting firm,

“Thompson Global Consulting.” It was the perfect time to regroup and redirect
where we wanted our careers to go, and combine the gifts that we
share. We visited Palm Springs in November and were instantly drawn to
this little glamorous city tucked away between the mountains. Matthew’s
client is in Thousand Oaks where he stays until mid-week and then rejoins
me at our lovely Palm Springs home, near the Movie Colony. Matthew
also stays busy with his community work. His previous charity work
at Fenway Health in Boston, MA raised over a million dollars. Matthew’s
strong activism for LGBT Healthcare is one of his passions and he looks
forward to serving his new community in the Coachella Valley. Meanwhile,
I am practicing my Mediumship full-time here in Palm Springs.
SB: When did you begin doing this work professionally?
ET: My journey began back in 2010 when I first moved to Laguna Beach,
CA. I lived so close to the ocean and sensed such a spiritual connection
to the water. And Laguna Beach is a very spiritual place; open to this
type of healing practice. I started my first few years using Angel Cards
and randomly flipping cards for friends at my home. It was more of my
way of figuring out how to use my abilities and whether it was through my
spiritual cards or simply open-channeling spirit messages. My very good
friend, Sharon, allowed me to read for her using my cards many times. In
fact, to this day, events I mentioned that would take place in her life are
continuing to unfold. After building a secret clientele following, I professionally
came out one year ago with my business, “Angel Messages By
Eric.” I was a closeted medium for many years, giving messages to those
I trusted who would be supportive of this spiritual work. Validation in this
line of work is so significant. And in the beginning, I knew I had to be
careful about who I opened up to about my Mediumship gifts. After years
of practice and soul-searching, I opened up my healing to the public. I
now read for people all around the world, which is rather amazing to me.
SB: How do you connect to the Spirit World?
ET: That’s a great question. I am always subconsciously connected to
messages via Spirit. I usually begin with a meditation prayer that connects
me to my faith, my beliefs, and who I am as a spiritual healer. I ask
my Guides to open my Crown Chakra to the Spirit World, but keep my
physical body in this life so I can participate as a ‘normal’ human being.
SB: How do you see Spirit?
ET: The best way I can explain it is I see hundreds of thousands of white
lights. Picture one hundred candle’s flames glowing brightly all grouped
together. That’s how the spirit comes to me. When a person’s loved one
chooses to reveal their identity, it’s then that white flame of light turns into
the soul my client once knew in life.
SB: What do they say?
ET: Well, they tell or show me items that I wouldn’t know -- based on the
relationship this soul had with my client in life. Spirit will show me colors
of roses, jewelry, scarves tied around their necks, and other symbols that
will help to validate the connection to the person I am reading.
I remember, playing “school” in my bedroom as a child and talking to my
pupils (who were actually spirits playing back with me) and actually feeling
they were a part of my five-year-old life. I recall my mom, walking into
my room and listening to some of the conversations I would have with
spirits who visited me -- especially my family’s deceased loved ones. It
freaked my mom out and she tried to not acknowledge for a while. You
see, this ability was always around me. It was not until my adult years I
was able to recognize what I was seeing and hearing.
SB: What is the difference between a psychic and a medium?
ET: In my opinion, a medium is a person who can see, hear, sense,
smell, all signs from spiritual energy in the light. A medium acts like a
mediator to a degree. I work with the “here and now.” We communicate
the messages from spirit to the physical world. If a predictive message
comes through via spirit (your loved one) regarding a particular event
coming up or a relationship -- I will communicate that message how it’s
meant to be, based on what spirit is showing me. A psychic, to me, is an
individual who has the ability to forecast life events. They can see into
the future through their own gifts. I am not a psychic, so I cannot speak to
what they go through or their abilities. However, if they choose to,.spirit
will often times tell me something that is going to happen in the future
I rely on spirit to give me information through their message, and I will
communicate it to my client.
SB: What can one expect during a normal reading with you?
ET: I always advise people before purchasing a reading with me, to review
my testimonials. It’s the best way for people understand what I do in
a session and how I channel messages. Some have never had a reading
where a loved one’s spirit is being channeled and it could be frightening
to them. I only deliver messages that are conveyed at the time of the
reading. I never go beyond what my guides show me in a reading. The
best readings are those in which a client has no expectations of hearing
from a deceased loved one. Expectations put up blocks that make it
difficult for me to channel a person’s spirit guides or loved ones to come
through. It takes a lot of spiritual strength for our loved ones to come
through and deliver their messages. Always have an open mind and open
heart when requesting a reading.
SB: Are there any instructions you give new clients before a reading?
ET: I just ask them to pray prior to the reading (if they do pray) or ask
their loved ones to enter their session with love and light. It’s great for
people to hold an object that belongs to the deceased relative they want
to hear from during the reading. Energy never disappears so jewelry is a
wonderful object to have present during a session.
photos: David Wallace Crotty

SB: What are some of your hobbies when you’re not travelling around
touring around the country?
ET: Well, I love my home. It’s my sanctuary. I love to cook my Grandmother
Turcio’s old Sicilian recipes. I find when I am cooking; I am closer
to her spirit. Now that I am all settled here in Palm Springs, I’ve started
back into my fitness regimen -- running, Pilates and yoga everyday -- I
do want to play tennis - that’s a goal of mine for sure.
29
SB: Was there some point when someone told you about your Mediumship
abilities?
ET: Many mediums and spiritual practitioners told me since a young
boy that having the ability to see and sense our loved ones in spirit was
a blessing and never to allow anyone to convince me otherwise. I have
many spiritual mentors with whom I still check-in with regarding my own
abilities and growth. I believe you never stop learning. And education, no
matter the topic, is very significant to personal growth.
SB: What are your personal spiritual views regarding your abilities?
ET:: I do not have any specific definition of spirituality or how anyone
else should practice his or her own faith. I believe God and my angels
blessed me with this healing before I was born, and have always intended
me to use it to assist others. I tell my clients exactly what I see, hear,
and sense in the next dimension, call it heaven or what you may. I truly
believe however, that we all believe in something, especially when we
feel alone, sad, or unhappy with our life situations. I obviously believe in
the healing I deliver to my clients. I see changes right in front of me when
their loved ones come through. Spirit validates who they were in this
life, and their relationship to my client. People will know who is the “real
deal,” when it comes to mediums, because of the information that comes
through. This is information I couldn’t have researched or learned anywhere
else. Some “claim” to be mediums or psychics but aren’t. I trust
and believe that all truth is revealed one way or another. You cannot hide
who and what you are - eventually everything will surface in your life.
SB: What was your most significant experience that lead to you acknowledge
your Mediumship gifts?
ET: There were many experiences. Possibly one of the most profound
experiences of my life was when I was living in Bozeman, Montana. After
spending many years working in broadcasting on the East Coast where
my career began, I was a local TV newscaster in Bozeman. I loved
providing information to millions of viewers. I enjoyed communicating
messages and stories that truly changed people’s lives each day. It was
an honor to nightly serve my audience in Montana. I felt, however, that I
was being called to do something “higher”. I kept my reporting going and
tried to ignore various spiritual messages that would come through in the
middle of my workday.
I found that being away from my family, isolated in a new town, with a
new role, in a new COLD region of the country, that I wasn’t fulfilling my
true calling. My time in Montana forced me to go deep within and acknowledge
all of what made my being.
After several months, I became quite ill and had surgery. It was during
my recovery, staying in a lovely cabin high up in the Bridger Mountains
that I began to see spirit in full form. I was sitting by a lovely pond one
September morning and this presence came over me as if it was holding
me in place. I could not move a limb and warm goosebumps kept rushing
through my body. I kept hearing my name being called. Upon looking
up at the big Montana sky, a strong, but gentle voice began speaking
to me. I heard that my life was going to change significantly. I was told I
would help thousands of people get through personal suffering in years
to come. This voice said I would be leaving Montana to go where I could
acknowledge my inner-gifts completely. I was told I was meant to experience
my current suffering so I could understand suffering and pain of
otherswho would come to me seeking help for inner struggles. I couldn’t
understand who this voice was, but it was so comforting and warm feeling.
Later that night, an angel appeared in front of me in all white. The
angel said I should accept the many blessing of this new life path and
must always act through love and kindness, and share the light of their
spirit world. It’s an experience confirmed , to this day, by the presence of
those warm goosebumps all over my body.
SB: When did you first recognize that you had this gift?
ET: I’ve seen spirits since I was very young. I would often tell my mom
about relatives who have passed away before I was born - because they
were in my room or near her in the house. Most of the time what I saw did
not bother me, I was just confused about why no one else in my house
could see them too. After my father died in 2005, that was when my channel
opened and messages from the other side began flowing through my
sub consciousness. I was so devastated by the loss of my dad, I wanted
to do anything I could to see his face again or hear his voice.
It was not until my college years when I began investigating more about
what I was seeing. Mainly, during that time, I would see large white orbs
floating around my bedroom. After awhile, it did scare me to the point
where I was too afraid to sleep in my bedroom. I would hear my name
being called out in the middle of the night. Spirits would tap on my arms
or legs to wake me up so they could tell me their story. These were just
random spirits I never met before. Soon enough, my bedroom was filled
with rosary beads everywhere. I had pictures, statues of the Blessed
Mother Mary, and other religious figures all around my bedroom - trying
to keep these spirits from bothering. Eventually I began asking them to
tell me what they want and who they are. Meanwhile, I was still in college
and trying to get my rest in for exams the night before. I became extremely
distracted from everyday life and too involved in the spirit world. I
knew at that point I needed to seek guidance myself to understand what
was happening. I went to see a famous medium on the East Coast who
came highly recommended by my relatives. I was so anxious to meet her:
Marti, The Medium. In my session with Marti, she told me I possessed

a very special gift. She said I was an empathic medium, much like her.
It was through years of working with her I began to understand my skills
and how to humbly use my gifts to assist others in need of answers --
like I was. An empathic medium, can take on the emotions and physical
well being of another person via spirit connection. Like other empathic
mediums, I’ve come to realize that when I don’t use, or overuse my gifts,
it can affect my physical being. - like what I experienced in college and in
Montana. Sometimes after a few readings, I am so physically drained I
have to nap just to replenish my energy.
SB: In regards to spiritual abilities, is it always a guide or angel passing
information, or do you have abilities of your own which are independent
of your guides and skills?
ET: In my opinion, every medium, psychic, or spiritual healer is different..
I am a self taught healer, which means I’ve never studied formally
how to do a reading or see spirit. Nor have I had to learn formally how
to communicate with our loved ones in the light. It is just a part of me. I
trusted my faith in the Blessed Mother (from whom I channel my messages
and always believed in as a young boy) would guide me to where
I needed to be with my spirituality. I pray a lot and use aspects of my
faith which help me stay connected to spirit. There’s no immediate formal
prayer or ritual I do to begin to see what I see -- I just simply see what
I do. It’s very hard to explain it. Primarily, messages enter my subconscious
mind. Through my own meditations,,I allow myself to be completely
aware of the my sub conscious. Everything I do to channel spirit and
use my gifts is unique from anyone else I’ve met who does this work. I
choose not to read “How To” books on spirituality because I believe, if it’s
meant to be, it will happen. At times, angels will come through, and sometimes
it’s a client’s loved one holding hands of another spirit they would
recognize. I just share what I see and feel during a reading. The reading
is truly controlled by spirit and the validation of the person receiving
the messages from me. I am not in charge. I’m just truly the messenger.
When spirits want me to meditate and connect to them, I’ll see a signal;
a layer of white mist above my head during the day. Then I’ll go into a
quiet room in my house and ask this light-filled presence to show itself to
me. When I do receive the information, then I’ll share it with whomever it
concerns.
SB: Do you feel that everybody has a certain degree of the ability then?
ET: Everyone has the gift of being aware of the universal messages
from spirit. We all have this ability, but it’s through self-awareness and
selflessness we can connect to these messages. We all have dreams
or predictive visions of something happening. Most often, people do not
pay attention; and if they do, they’re unsure what to do with the message.
Many people just dismiss the feelings or messages as, “I’m just going
crazy.” It’s through self-reflection and self-awareness that we can accept
this beautiful gift within us.
SB: What label or description do you give yourself when a stranger asks
what you do for work?
ET: That’s always challenging for me to say publicly for some reason. It
really depends on the environment - and the person asking. I usually say
I work in /communications/. If I’m at a gala, or social party, I never discuss
my Mediumship. I tell people I work in communications or I will tell them
“life coaching” or “spiritual healing.” Most of the time, when they hear the
answer “spiritual healing.”, I get this strange perplexed head nod back.
Usually, there’s no follow-up after they nod their head. There are some
who get very Barbara Walters with me during a dinner party if they want
to know more. The questions become endless. At this point, I usually
just slip them a business card with all my information on it. I find it’s the
most proper way not to answer in public at a party, but at the same time
“We visited Palm Springs in November and were
instantly drawn to this little glamorous city tucked
away between the mountains.”
“After years of practice and soul-searching, I opened up my healing to the public.
I now read for people all around the world!”
answer their question as to what I do for work. It says right on my business
card, MEDIUM. I think at that point most people get the hint: I do not
like discussing my work socially, I will in a private conversation or through
booking a private reading.
SB: What is your intention or motivation for doing this work?
ET:I simply do what I do to help others change their lives for the better.
I want to see people happy when they are sad. I want to help people
recognize the good that does exist in this life, show them their loved ones
who crossed over are always around. I want people to know much they
are loved unconditionally through the light of spirit and educate them on
ways to get through their inner suffering. I’m an emotional person and
when my father died at age 46, all I could think of was the loss. Through
my work, I’ve learned and know life does exist on the other side and we
do reunite with our loved ones again in the light.
SB: How long do your readings last and why did you choose this length
of time?
ET: I offer a variety of readings. One reading I offer is an Angel/Spirit
Reading. This is where I use my Archangel Michael cards to help me to
see where a person is in life at the time of their session. During this reading,
I also channel spirit and allow all light-filled spirit who identifies with
the client to come through. It’s spirit who tells me which number of cards
to pull. Most time, spirit is so strong I do not need my Angel cards.
The other reading I offer is called a Life Coaching This is where I channel
spirit to guide a client through an immediate situation happening in their
life. Sometimes, it’s coaching them through relationship struggles or emotional
struggles happening in their life. In this session, I channel the spirit
of a client’s loved ones. I deliver the messages they want their loved
ones in the physical world to know about the situation. I leave the length
of time of a reading up to my clients. I offer half hour and hour sessions.
It just depends on the need of reading and what a client is hoping to
receive from me. I usually like to read for someone only once a year. If a
client returns with new developments in their life and they want additional
spiritual advice, I call it a “Life Coaching” session.
SB: You do events, seminars, workshops, and lectures? Tell us about
them. What are they like? How often, and how do people benefit from
them?
ET: Yes, I travel all over the country giving group readings. Group events
are a great way for people to come together for the same purpose; receiving
messages from their loved ones. I pick up on a lot of energy when
I’m in a room full of people. It’s always a very supportive environment and
a great way for those grieving to find peace, and to know they are not
alone. I discuss ways to connect to your loved ones, meditation methods,
and answer questions the audience may have about my process and how
I channel spirit. I “open channel” spirit(s) in the room. Which means I
ask all spirit connected to those in the audience to reveal their presence.
When I begin to get signs, symbols, number, names, a description of a
how and where a person passed, I begin to find in the audience which
person this soul belongs to.
to be at your own home, with a cup of tea or coffee in hand while having
a reading. There’s no awkward nervousness when you’re in the comfort
of your own home. I always suggest people take notes of what I am saying
or record the session. It’s always nice to have a way to go back and
re-visit what we have discussed in a session. Spirit will bring up many
names, initials of names, symbols or past life events up during a session.
Often clients cannot immediately attach to a message that comes
through will re-listen to the reading and a connection is made to what it
is spirit wanted me to channel for them.
SB: What’s next for you with “Angel Messages By Eric”?
ET: I have my Fall Season, “Angel Messages By Eric” group reading tour
starting on September 18th in Cape Girardeau, MO. Then I continue my
tour on the East Coast, I fly to Cape Cod and over to Connecticut in late
October. My hope is to host several group readings in Palm Springs, and
around Southern California. I’m very much looking forward to spreading
my “angel wings” here in the Desert.
SB: Who is Eric Turcio today?
ET: I am someone living and honoring all of who I am. I am helping
my fellow man. I would humbly say I help lift away personal suffering,
leading people to a light-filled path in this life. My purpose everyday is
to change one person’s life...That’s it. I want to only show them that this
life can be good. We choose to suffer in this world. But it doesn’t have
to be that way. I want to share my knowledge and spiritual healing skills
with those who truly want to accept healing. I believe in making a ‘better
you’ each day you wake up. No matter how deep the struggle, I want to
change lives for the better. I will stand beside anyone who wants help to
heal themselves and help others in return. I am not claiming to be a miraculous
healer. But I do see where our loved ones go after this life...And
it’s all love, and free of suffering!
SB: People who will want a reading with you, how do they get in touch
with Eric Turcio?
ET:They can log onto my website, www.angelmessagesbyeric.com .
My bio and all my testimonials are on my homepage for people to get a
better sense about my work. I am available for private group sessions
as well as individual sessions. Anyone can call my Angel Line at 760-459-
7756 to book a session.
SB: I SHOULD NOTE: As our interview drew to a close, Eric left me with
a comforting thought (sort of), telling me that my father is looking down
on me from the heavens above while hanging out with Judy Garland
(of all people… Judy!) Though I’m agape, I wouldn’t put anything past
my dad. I chuckle hesitantly in disbelief as I say my goodbyes, because
ironically I had been watching documentaries on the life of Garland over
the past week on YouTube. So, make of that what you will, LIVE readers!
(Laughs).
Angel Messages by Eric is open for business now in Palm Springs, CA.
SB: Do you do phone readings, in person readings, or both?
ET: I absolutely offer in-person, phone, Skype, and most recently, Face-
Time sessions. Most people want to see me during the session. If someone
lives far away from Palm Springs they will either choose a phone
reading or a Skype reading. It just depends on a client’s technical and or
travel limitations. Most clients prefer phone sessions because it’s cozy
DESERT DENTAL ALTERNATIVES
Bruno Lemay, DMD
Creating Beautiful Smiles
CHANGING THE FACE OF DENTISTRY IN THE DESERT
With the extensive training he has received over the last 25 years, Dr. Bruno Lemay’s
unique experience has set him apart from any other dental practitioner in the desert.
Dr. Lemay is able to perform every specialized dental treatment right in his office,
making Desert Dental Alternatives one of the only “one stop” general dentistry
offices in the area.
CONVENIENT, AFFORDABLE CARE UNDER ONE ROOF
At Desert Dental Alternatives, there is no need to go from one office to another to
have implants, crowns , surgery or root canals. Dr. Lemay performs all procedures
himself, from the surgical stage of implantology to the restorative stage, saving patients
valuable time and money. Having all dental work performed by one dentist in
the same office provides the patient with added peace of mind and confidence that
their care is being expertly handled from start to finish and much less hassle to have
to drive from one office to the other.
One of the reasons Desert Dental Alternatives is so unique is that there are very few
dentists in California performing implant dentistry with the high success rates Dr.
Lemay is known for. In most practices, the patient is referred to see a specialist who
places the implants and then returns to the referring office for the restorative dentist
to place the prosthetic part.
Most patients do not enjoy visiting the dentist, or do not have the time for long,
drawn out appointments. That’s why it’s important to pick a dentist with a gentle
touch and exceptional skill, who can give you the best results in the fewest number
of visits. Dr. Lemay respects your time and focuses on getting you out of the chair
with the best quality treatment so you can get back to the activities you enjoy. And,
at Desert Dental Alternatives, you can feel confident that you are getting the best
possible care at a price that fits your budget.
so many insurance providers is because we have developed a
very efficient top-quality team over the last 15 years. We pride
ourselves on working smarter, not harder to get your dental work
done efficiently.”
“Being able to work with PPO insurance is important for our clients so they can use
the benefits they pay for,” says Dr. Lemay. “The reason why we are able to work with
LEADING-EDGE ALTERNATIVES FOR THE HIGHEST CALIBER CARE
Because of Dr. Lemay’s involvement in all stage of implantology,
root canal therapy and dental surgery, it was essential for his
practice to offer the most advanced technology in terms of diagnostic
scanners. Desert Dental Alternatives is the only general
dentistry office in the desert with a 3-D Cat-Scan machine. Dr.
Lemay’s patients benefit from this technology without having to
go to another facility or hospital, or pay excessive fees for this
type of X-ray. The 3-D image allows Dr. Lemay to provide the best
service to his patients quickly and efficiently, at a fraction of the
price they would have to pay for a Cat-Scan elsewhere.
“Since I have been working with the CT scanner, I wonder how
I was able to work without it, and how any other dentists can
perform the best treatment possible without this amazing tool,”
he says.
The name of Dr. Lemay’s practice, Desert Dental Alternatives really
says it all. Dr. Lemay and his staff pride themselves on never
pushing patients towards a unique treatment because it’s all they
offer. Instead, patients are educated on all the various treatment
options regardless of the cost, so they can make an informed
decision. For example, standard implants are often a good solution,
but there are also cases where patients could benefit from
mini-implants. Since Dr. Lemay is the only dentist in the desert
successfully performing both techniques for over two decades,
there is no other place to learn about both options during the
same visit.
NEW MUSIC IN THE FILM
BURBANK, CA - Award-winning music superstar Lady Gaga has been
set to star opposite four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“American
Sniper,” “American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook”) in a
remake of the iconic musical drama “A Star is Born.” The announcement
was made by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development
and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will also
be helmed by Cooper, who will be making his directorial debut.
Lady Gaga’s role in “A Star is Born” will mark her first lead in a
feature film. In addition, she will compose new songs for the film,
which she will also perform.
“A Star is Born” is being produced by Billy Gerber and Jon Peters; together
with Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips, under their Joint Effort
Productions banner. Basil Iwanyk is serving as executive producer.
In making the announcement, Silverman stated, “For those of us
lucky enough to watch him work as an actor and producer, it has
been clear that Bradley would make this transition to director. We
are honored that he is doing it, here, at his home—Warner Bros.—and
with Lady Gaga as a collaborator and co-star. The world is in for a
treat as these great artists craft an all new vision of ‘A Star is Born.’”
she has also won six Grammy Awards and earned another nine
Grammy nominations. Her multi-platinum hits range from “Bad
Romance,” “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” to the chart-topping
anthem “Born This Way.” In 2014, she proved her crossover appeal
with “Cheek to Cheek,” partnering with the legendary Tony Bennett
on a duet album of standards, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard
chart. On the acting front, Lady Gaga starred in the 2015-16 season
of FX’s hit series “American Horror Story,” earning widespread
acclaim and winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a
Limited Series or Made for Television Movie. She had earlier been
seen in the Robert Rodriguez films “Machete Kills” and “Sin City: A
Dame to Die For.”
todd
schroeder
Todd Schroeder is arguably one of the hardest-working and most noteworthy
music directors performing in the world of show business today.
For over two decades, Schroeder, who was named BroadwayWorld’s
“Musical Director of the Year” in 2013, has acted as music director for
literally hundreds upon hundreds of Hollywood stars and legends of the
theatre world. The list has included notable musicians and cherished
stage performers, as well as more uniquely, television and film actors
who aren’t normally known for their singing abilities, but have leveraged
Todd’s talents to enhance that of their own. Schroeder’s ability to work
within the tight constructs of the latter category has made him one of
the most remarkable and coveted music directors in the world, gaining
the trust and respect of entertainment icons, with an unparalleled career
that spans over 20 years.
Just a sampling of the countless stars Todd has worked with has included
iconic stars of stage and screen that have inspired millions across
generational divides, including Dame Angela Lansbury, Sir Tom Jones,
Liza Minnelli, Grace Potter, Beth Behrs (2 Broke Girls), Emmy Rossum
(Shameless), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Jesse Tyler Ferguson
(Modern Family), Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon), Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting
(The Big Bang Theory), Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde:
The Musical), Beau Bridges, Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Joey McIntyre
(The McCarthys) and many, many more.
Over the years, the musical luminary has even acted as musical and
vocal director for various live performance shows for internationally renowned
theme parks such as Walt Disney, Universal Studios Hollywood
and Japan, and Knott’s Berry Farm, among others. Schroeder shares,
“One of my favorite moments working in a theme park was when I was
brought in to musical direct the Broadway hit show Wicked at Universal
Studios Japan. It was the first time a Broadway show was going to be
presented in a theme park and I got to work with the show’s creator Stephen
Schwartz and help figure out how to present this amazing show in
a new format. I was so honored to be apart of this ground-breaking experience.”
Schroeder has now once again been asked to be part of the
casting team representing Universal Studios Japan on a global 10-city
audition tour reaching from Sydney, Australia to London, England, to
Hollywood, searching for new talent for the theme parks’ myriad production
shows. Todd has served as music director for many of the shows
at Universal Studios Japan and has been part of their worldwide casting
team for over 13 years seeing more than 20,000 singers, dancers and
actors.
Schroeder has also performed his role as music director for a number of
multi-performer philanthropic benefit events, including the Todd Schroeder
Young Artist Grant Benefit Concert, which he founded over two
decades ago; State Farm’s Remarkable Talent Show; the Alzheimer’s
Association’s “A Night At Sardi’s” celebrity musical revue; Camp Bravo’s
“Back to Bravo” Benefit Concert; the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s
“Les Girls Benefit”; “The Thalians” all-star tribute benefit raising awareness
for mental health, honoring the music of Motown legend Smokey
Robinson, and the one-night-only “Benefit for the Philippines,” which
supported the American Red Cross’ efforts to assist the people of the
Philippines to recover and rebuild from the 2013 typhoon.
Throughout his fabled career beginning in his small hometown of Sonora,
California, nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, all the way to Los
Angeles, where he lives today, Todd has had the honor of being invited
to perform with distinguished acts including the Boston Pops Orchestra,
Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and has
performed at illustrious venues like Carnegie Hall and The White House.
In addition to being a world-famous music director to the stars, Todd
is also a performer and composer himself, having written five original
albums and a number of original musicals, as well as having producing
various albums for other artists. In addition to composing his own music,
Schroeder has also composed original music for a variety of popular
television shows, including “Guiding Light,” and shows and TV movies
on Lifetime, Showtime and Cinemax.
Todd also recently musical directed and performed in Sam Harris’ acclaimed
show, HAM: A Musical Memoir, which played a three-week run
at New York’s Ars Nova Theater in January. The show was directed by
Tony winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots), and produced by Broadway producer
Suzi Dietz. Todd has served as Music Director for Sam Harris for
more than 20 years. Todd also co-created and performed in the Jason
Alexander show Other People’s Stories, which premiered in Los Angeles
in spring 2015. Todd has collaborated and musical directed with
Jason for more than ten years.
By working across such a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines, Schroeder
has further been able to cultivate his genius ability to understand the
anatomy of music, allowing him to meticulously identify the intricacies of
all different types of songs in order to help tailor each arrangement to its
vocal presenter.
This winter, Todd will joined the superstar retro-pop group Postmodern
Jukebox as a music director and pianist. Created by Scott Bradlee,
Postmodern Jukebox has been referred to as a YouTube sensation for
capturing millions of views online, including for its cover of Lorde’s “Royals”
with more than 12 million views. In keeping with the group’s rotating
arrangement, Todd can be seen appearing on select shows while on the
group’s upcoming world tour. Todd also appears in the new Postmodern
Jukebox video for the song, “My Heart Will Go On,” released in early
August, which has garnered more than one million views and praise from
Titanic actor Kate Winslet, artist Celine Dion and actor Ashton Kutcher.

“SAM I HAM”
Thursday
October 20, 2016
8pm
Following triumphant New York and LA runs of his one man show, Ham,
Sam Harris returns to Martinis for an evening of music with a voice that
Rolling Stone Magazine listed as “One of the top 100 of all time.”
Accompanied by longtime musical director, Todd Schroeder, Harris will
perform songs new and old along with the comic observations that have
become as much a part of his appearances as his celebrated voice.
Sam Harris’ diversified career has run the gamut from singer and
songwriter to actor on Broadway, film and television to writer, director,
producer and author. After pulling a weekly audience of more
than 25 million viewers and going on to win Star Search in its premiere
season, Sam and his powerhouse pop, gospel and theater
influenced vocals have never looked back.
He is a multi-platinum recording artist with 9 studio CDs to his credit
including Sam Harris and Sam-I-Am (both top 40 hits),Standard
Time and Different Stages (produced and conducted by the legendary
Peter Matz, and which have been listed on numerous “Top 100
Records of All Time” lists.)
Sam has toured extensively in concert and has played to sold-out
audiences at major venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Los
Angeles’ Universal Amphitheatre, London’s West End and with The
Boston Pops. He also participated in Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors
tour. Sam has appeared at The White House, on numerous television
specials and live productions, and has been a guest artist on
virtually every talk show; his favorite in an historic time, when he
performed a stirring “You’ll Never Walk Alone” on The Oprah Winfrey
Show in the week following September 11th.
On Broadway, Sam received a Tony, Outer Critic’s Circle and
Drama Desk nominations for his work in Cy Coleman’s The Life as
well as a Drama League Award and Drama Desk nomination for his
role in Tommy Tune’s Grease. He has also appeared on Broadway
in Mel Brooks’ The Producers. Sam has starred in Jesus Christ
Superstar, Cabaret, Joseph, Hair, Pippin, The Jazz Singer, The
First Wives Club, and the smash hit, one man show Sam.
Behind the scenes, Sam co-wrote the TBS sit-com, Down To
Earth, which ran for 4 years. He also co-produced the television
special Love Letter To New York, supervised and directed
segments of Michael Jackson’s 30th Year Anniversary at Madison
Square Garden, and wrote Liza’s At The Palace for Liza
Minnelli, which won the 2009 Tony Award. He created and
directed the concert event, New York’s Finest – Broadway’s
Leading Men and performed the duets show, Schmoolli & Minnooli,
with his longtime friend, Liza Minnelli.
In an exciting new chapter of Sam’s career, his first book, Ham:
Slices of a Life (Simon & Schuster), a collection of stories and
essays, was released in January 2015 and has garnered great
critical and reader praise. The show of the same name was
produced in New York and LA in 2016.
Mark Anthony
MARC ANTHONY NAMED 2016 LATIN RECORDING ACADEMY®
PERSON OF THE YEAR
Five-time Latin GRAMMY® and two-time GRAMMY® winner Marc Anthony
will be honored as the 2016 Latin Recording Academy® Person of the Year
on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The
star-studded gala and tribute concert will feature renditions of the awardwinning
singer’s renowned music catalog by an impressive array of notable
artists and friends. A significant portion of the net proceeds from the gala
will benefit the charitable work of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®,
which provides assistance through scholarships, fellowships, grants, and
educational programs year-round to music students.
“Marc Anthony is synonymous with excellence and commitment to perfection,”
said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy.
“His impressive stage presence, astonishing vocal range and salsainspired
rhythmic sound stems from his Caribbean roots. The world knows
him as a music king; however, on Nov. 16 the award-winning singer will not
only be honored for his musical legacy but also applauded for his relentless
humanitarian efforts, which speak to his generous spirit, passion, and commitment
to making a positive impact on more than just the stage.”
“I was ecstatic when I received the news about this special recognition from
the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. It is an honor and I am
humbled to be selected as The Person of Year recipient for my contributions
as a music ambassador and my humanitarian efforts. I am looking forward
to an unforgettable evening at this year’s gala benefiting the Latin GRAMMY
Cultural Foundation and can’t wait to celebrate in the company of family,
friends and our music industry peers,” said Marc Anthony.
A multifaceted tycoon, Anthony is one of the most influential vocal performers
of our times and a passionate ambassador of Latin music and culture.
The chart-topping singer has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide
and received numerous gold and platinum certifications from the Recording
Industry Association of America. He has also been recognized by New York
magazine as one of the 10 most influential New Yorkers, inaugurated into
the Billboard Hall of Fame in 2012, and given a Lifetime Chair’s Achievement
Award by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in Washington D.C.in
2009.
Recently, Anthony co-created Maestro Cares, a non-profit that aims to help
orphanages in Latin America. In April 2015, Anthony announced the formation
of Magnus Media, whose operating units will include an artist management
company, music publishing, digital content creation, film and television,
music label, sports division, and an entertainment-centric marketing practice
focused on leveraging the power of top Latino content creators worldwide.
The prestigious event precedes the 17th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards®
held at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Tune in to Univision Network
for the live broadcast on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CST.)
For information on purchasing tickets or tables to this year’s Latin Recording
Academy Person of the Year gala, please contact The Latin Recording
Academy ticketing office at 310.314.8281 or [email protected].
As the 2016 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year, Anthony joins a
distinguished list of past recipients that includes Miguel Bosé, Roberto Carlos,
Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández, Juan Luis Guerra,
Carlos Santana, Joan Manuel Serrat, Shakira, and Caetano Veloso, among
others.
The Latin Recording Academy is an international, membership-based organization
professionals. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life
the Latin GRAMMY Awards to honor excellence in the recorded arts and
sciences, The Latin Recording Academy provides educational and outreach
programs for the Latin music community either directly or through its Latin
