Above - I'm sure you will not have seen these before - hogback grave covers,<br />
all early 10th century and from North Yorkshire. Bears at each end seem<br />
to be a common theme - they definitely have a Viking 'look' about them.<br />
Hogback grave covers - Anglo-Scandinavian grave marker<br />
sculptures from Scotland and England (10-12th century),<br />
with concentrations in Cumbria and Yorkshire. Generally<br />
taking the form of recumbent figures, they're frequently<br />
