Sorrento, the Bay of Naples and the Amalfi Coast – collective names 

for the Southern coastal regions in Italy which conjure images of 

Vesuvius towering over Naples, of Pompeii showered in ash and

Suggested Itinerary 

Day 1 

On arrival at Naples airport, meet your 

coach then why not add on a visit to Naples 

enroute from the airport. You can visit the 

Naples Underground Cisterns, and then meet 

your guide and undertake a guided tour of 

Naples. Continue transfer to your hotel in 

Sorrento and evening meal. 

Day 3 

Today the focus returns to plate tectonics 

with a visit to Campei Flegrei National 

Park (Phlegraean Fields). This 15km wide 

caldera, is an active volcanic system 

offering the opportunity to view numerous 

volcanic features, including the Solfatara 

fumarolic field, Monte Nuovo caldera and 

the evident bradyseism. Then continue onto 

Herculaneum to see the affects of the 79AD 

eruption of Mt Vesuvius. Evening meal in 

hotel. 

Day 2 

Today’s visit will focus on the destructive 

power of Mount Vesuvius, as you visit Mount 

Vesuvius. Classed as potentially one of the 

most dangerous active volcanos, students 

will learn about its formation and eruption 

history. Your trip will be compounded by a 

visit to Pompeii to uncover the effects of the 

eruption in 79AD. Evening meal in hotel. 

Day 4 

You may have some free time before your 

return the UK, subject to flight times. 

If you are wishing to add on and extra 5th 

day, groups often spend this day taking the 

Amalfi drive coastal tour or visiting the island 

of Capri.

Day 1 

After arriving in Iceland, you will be transferred 

to the amazing Blue Lagoon with free 

time to relax in the mineral rich waters of 

this man-made geothermal phenomenon. 

Afterwards you will head onto your accommodation. 

Day 2 

Today your students will have the chance 

to explore the North American and Eurasion 

tectonic plate boundary in Pingvellar, the 

triple-drop Gulfoss waterfalls, geothermal 

power and the original Geysirs on a guided 

‘Golden Circle’ day tour. 

Day 3 

Day 4 

The guided ‘South Shore’ adventure today 

will allow students to explore natural hazards 

with the recently erupted Eyjafjallajokull 

Volcano, two magnificent waterfalls (Skogar 

and Seljalandsfoss), visit the Solheimajokull 

Glacier and see the fascinating Dyrholaey 

rock formations. 

Day 5 

Today you will have free time to explore the 

city of Reykjavik.

With opportunities for the study of glacial and fluvial processes, Karst 

landscapes and orography along with human aspects including industry 

and tourism - Switzerland is an open air classroom ready to explore. 

Glacial studies can take place at the UNESCO Langgletscher glacier or 

Europe’s longest glacier, The Aletsch Glacier. You can even do a glacial

Day 1 

After arriving in Switzerland by air, (subject to flight times) transfer to the amazing Lavey-Les- 

Bains spa with free time to relax in the mineral rich waters of this naturally heated geothermal 

spa with outdoor pools surrounded by the mountains. You may also have time to visit the 

amazing Bex Salt Mines which is located nearby to the spa. An audio-visual installation will take 

you through centuries of history of the salt mine. Afterwards you will head onto your accommodation 

to check in and enjoy your evening meal. 

Day 2 

Today your students will have the chance to explore glacial landforms at the Langgletscher Glacier. 

With coach and guide, head over to the Langgletscher Glacier to explore the UNESCO World 

Heritage site forefield of this huge glacier, which lies within the largest valley on the northern 

side of the Swiss Rhône valley, Lötschental. There is also an opportunity to add-on a ‘walk on 

ice’ glacier walking experience with experienced guide(s) and equipment. 

As an alternative today, you can choose instead to visit the amazing Aletsch Glacier, Europe’s 

longest glacier and unquestionably one of the most spectacular in the world. Carrying 27 

billions tons of ice, the ease of accessibility make this one of the most popular large glaciers to 

visit. Visit requires additional cable car transport. 

Return to your accommodation for evening meal. 

Day 3 

Today you will travel to the nearby village of Gruyere, to take a tour of the famous La Maison du 

Gruyère, cheese making factory, named after its location. Students will learn how the cheese is 

made with an interactive exhibition, including tasting of course! Following this, you can visit the 

nearby Maison Cailler - Chocolate Factory. 

Return to your accommodation for evening meal. Why not add in a visit to the local bowling alley 

in Chateau-d’Oex? 

Day 4 

After breakfast, today you visit the fantastic Glacier 3000. After a double cable car ride atop the 

glacier, your guide will accompany students on a tour of area, showcasing fantastic tourism and 

glacial landforms examples. Those brave enough can walk across the newly constructed Peak 

Walk suspension bridge, giving views of Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. 

Atop Glacier 3000, you can also add-on the Snow Bus snow cat ride, the Alpine Coaster, and 

enjoy free sledging. 

Following your visit to Glacier 3000, take a trip to the Grand Eau river basin with your guide for 

real life studies of river processes with a river ramble with your guide to explore river processes 

and landforms, exploring the snow and ice melt from the Gletsch and Rhone glaciers. 

Return to your accommodation and evening meal. You can also choose to add on another visit 

including a trip to the cheese making demonstration in Chateau-d’Oex or the unique Espace 

Ballon, the hot air balloon museum in Chateau-d’Oex. 

Day 5

river processes and landforms, tourism, rural environments and 

sustainability. Start with a visit to Cheddar Gorge to discover the 

landforms and processes of this beautiful Karst landscape. Follow

Day 1 

Today you will visit Somerset and Cheddar 

Gorge. Students will have the opportunity 

to learn more about the features of a Karst 

landscapes, with a guided visit to the two 

magnificent show caves on offer. 

Day 2 

Today will be all about coastal landforms, 

with a guided walk along a stretch of the 

Jurassic coastline at Nare’s head to observe 

key geographical features such as caves, 

stacks and arches. 

Transfer to your accommodation in Cornwall. 

Transfer to accommodation in Dorset. 

Day 3 

Visit the Eden Project for a tour and education talk to learn about world biomes. You can also 

add in a workshop on topics such as climate change or sustainability for your students. 

Visit the Lost Garden of Heligan before your return journey back to school.

ensure that all the required visits and excursions are 

booked and that the final itinerary is constructed to 

meet your group’s requirements.

complete with all required information including any
