Motorsport Festival at Kyalami gathers pace
The Motorsport Festival at Kyalami,
scheduled from the 21st until the 23rd
of October promises to be a spectacular
event. This first race meeting to be hosted
at the extensively revised and revamped
Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and International
Convention Centre, is expected to draw over
300 entries, making this event the biggest
motorsport event at Kyalami – ever!
This Motorsport South Africa (MSA)
sanctioned event, incorporating the Extreme
Festival, will include the Sasol Global Touring
Cars (GTC) Championship, V8 Supercars and
V8 Masters, Thunderbikes, G & H Transport
Extreme Supercars, Engen Volkswagen Cup
and Investchem Formula 1600 race series.
Spectators can expect a thrilling line-up of local
racing talent as the various categories do battle
for the chequered flag. Improved spectator
areas will ensure that visitors enjoy fantastic
opportunities to see the racers in action.
Entry for adults is priced at R 150 per day
or R 250 for both days. Children under 12
years of age will enjoy free access. Hospitality
packages and early-bird discounts are also

DOYLE DOES AMERICA
Another top talent from SA shines over in The States
Dominic Doyle, aged 15, from Port Elizabeth,
was invited to participate in the final leg of
the MotoAmerica Championships at the
Thunderbolt Circuit in New Jersey from 09 –
11 September 2016, in KTM 390 race. His
invitation was part of a magazine project that
Roadracing World; published by Roadracing
World Publishing, Inc. is doing with KTM,
called Roadracing World Wild Cards.
Dominic was fortunate to do a track walk
with Dave McFadden and Matthew Scholtz,
receiving some premium advice from the other
South African riders.
Dominic made an excursion off the track during
his first race, although he re-joined, but he
had to retire as he had no front brakes left.
It was great to see how his times improved
consistently though, as he went from a 1:40:46
on his first practice to a 1:36:997 in the first
race, one of the fastest riders.
Dom used the warm-up before the second race
to practice a new line and strategy, which would
leave him less vulnerable, where he had gone
off the track in the previous race.
In his second race, Dom made his usual
lightening start, immediately jumping from p7 up
to p6, but later dropped to the back of the lead
train in p8, where he managed to keep on the
tail end of the leaders to the end of the race. He
finished in p8 out of 27 riders.
John Ulrich from Road Racing World gave Dom
and Mom Anita the royal treatment, including a
tour of his M4 Suzuki Racing team, and asked
for Dom’s contact details in RSA to do a followup
article. Dom did quite a few interviews during
the weekend, and stirred up a lot of interest. He
even had his own camera-man trailing him.
