The William J. Harris Award was established <strong>to</strong> recognize excellence<br />
in <strong>the</strong> field of equal opportunity (EO).<br />
This year’s recipient of <strong>the</strong> William J. Harris Award, Missouri’s Equal<br />
Opportunity Unit, exemplifies ingenuity and is receiving this recognition<br />
because of its innovative initiatives, described below.<br />
Highlighted programs are:<br />
• The creation of equal opportunity grants for local areas <strong>to</strong><br />
improve equal opportunity training, moni<strong>to</strong>ring and compliance<br />
quality.<br />
• The Missouri Interagency Transition Team (MITT), an<br />
interagency team established <strong>to</strong> increase collaboration at<br />
<strong>the</strong> state, regional and local levels with <strong>the</strong> shared vision of<br />
