HEALTHCARE HEROES | WHAT MAKES A HERO?
At our Kirkcaldy branch, RGN Sandra Watson
was nominated and selected as the winner of the
Healthcare award. Sandra trained to be a nurse
following the birth of her daughter. She cemented
her reputation for excellence from the beginning
as she was awarded the coveted Fife Healthcare
Trust Rosebowl as well as receiving a merit for
best healthcare student.
Kirkcaldy Business Centre Manager Patricia
Easton presented Sandra with her award in
branch. On receiving her reward Sandra said:
“Totally stunned! Also very happy to be
recognised for making a difference to the clients
I care for”. Sandra was so excited to be
nominated, let alone win; she invited her family
along to watch her be presented with her award.
When asked what advice she would give to those
looking to join the care sector she said “Always
remember care is person centred, not task
orientated. Skills must include passion,
understanding and empathy”.
“Sandra is a credit to her profession and we are
extremely lucky to have her as part of Newcross”.
BCM Patricia Easton said, “Both Sandra and
Zibby were just two of many who were
nominated for being heroes in their profession,
for going beyond the call of duty in providing
dedicated person centred care and really making
a difference in the lives of others”.
