It is a great time to be in Glassboro!
Whether you’re a native, first time visitor, student, educator,
new business opening here, or one of the hundreds of new
residents to our borough, you’ve experienced first-hand the
many ways in which Glassboro is ascendant and thriving. From
our world-class University—Forbes and Money magazines cite
Rowan among “top” and “best” colleges for 2016—to our
rapidly expanding business community to our diverse
neighborhoods with their first-rate restaurants, shops and
amenities to come, the Borough of Glassboro has it all. And as
Mayor, I am proud to invite you to experience everything that
makes Glassboro the cultural and economic capital of South
Jersey.
Our new infrastructure technology program represents an
investment in the look, feel and experience of the Borough of Glassboro. We are improving
our technologies, communications, web connectivity and other critical infrastructure to
make Glassboro easier to navigate and highlight the true innovation of our borough. Our
completely new website and resident and business portals are key examples.
Glassboro is also experiencing both an economic development and
population boom. In 2015/16, we added more new residents and
students than at any time period in Glassboro’s history. As we’re
adding new residents, we are also adding hundreds of new jobs.
Companies are voting with their feet. In 2015/16 alone, 83
companies either started, moved here or made expansions within
the borough’s limits.
This has led to a development boom that is transforming the Glassboro downtown and
beyond. There are currently more than $350-million in commercial investments on Rowan
Boulevard, which includes the construction of the Enterprise Center (academic building and
parking garage), 220 Rowan Boulevard (residential, retail and health care complex), a
second parking garage and two more residential/academic and retail buildings, serves as a
model of collaborative redevelopment and smart growth with much more to come.
By every measure, we are an area on the rise. As we see more world-class developments
and continued growth, I am proud to share it with you all.

trash, brush and other debris that could damage
or clog the Leaf Vacuuming machines.

November 5, 9am-12pm in East New Street Park
Bring your unlimited (until truck is full) bags and/or
boxes of paper to be shredded in a highly secure,
Mobile shredding unit where your confidential
material will be destroyed before your eyes.
SNOW REMOVAL
To assist the Highway Department with snow removal
from all municipal dedicated streets, roadways, and culde-sacs,
all parked cars and obstructions shall be
removed from the street for up to 12 hours during and
after a storm.
• When shoveling out of a driveway, snow should be
placed to the right side (if looking at the street from
house) of your driveway.
• If using a snow blower, do not blow snow back out
into the street as hazardous conditions can arise.
• Primary streets plowed first, followed by the
secondary streets and cul-de-sacs last due to time
involved and use of other equipment.
• Plows get as close to the curb as possible.
• Please clear the area around your mailbox as the
Mail carriers will not deliver the mail if they can not
reach your mailbox. Residents and Businesses with
corner properties are required to clear the ADA
accessibility ramps.
• Glassboro is not responsible for damage to
obstructions in the street.
• Property owners abutting public highways, roads,
and/or streets of Glassboro are required to remove
any snow and ice up from the sidewalks in front of
their property.
Less than 4” of snow: 48 hours of any snowfall
4-10” of snow: within 72 hours
10” + of snow: within 120 hours
If your property is a bus stop or a direct means to
and from bus stops or schools, please clear the
sidewalks as soon as possible. The cleared pathway
should be no less than 36 inches in width.

GLASSBORO EDUCATION
A NEW, $145 MILLION RESIDENCE HALL ON ROWAN
UNIVERSITY’S CAMPUS IN GLASSBORO IS NOW
HOME TO 1,415 UNDERCLASSMEN.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the University community gathered as the ribbon
was cut on Holly Pointe Commons, the $145 million complex on the
eastern tip of campus adjacent to Rowan Boulevard.
Rowan President Ali Houshmand, Vice President for Student Life/Dean of
Students Richard Jones, and representatives from development partners
University Student Living and Provident Resources Group joined together
for the grand opening celebration on the patio overlooking the building’s
spacious green area.
Most students living at the complex, including 649 freshmen and 755 sophomores and transfer students, moved in
on August 27 and 28. Their new home is 303,000 square feet and includes Glassworks Eatery, a 550-seat dining
hall that is open to the campus community, and BB’s C-Store, a grab-and-go café.

SCHOOLS OPEN ON TIME AMIDST
BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS
All Glassboro Public Schools opened on schedule
this September following large-scale school summer
improvement projects. Roofing took place at GHS,
GIS and Thomas E. Bowe School. Students returned
to find new, energy efficient lighting in GHS and
GIS. At Thomas E. Bowe School and GHS,
refurbished bathrooms and new HVAC units have
enhanced the schools’ environment.
The district boosted security by installing additional
cameras. This fall, the school district expects work to
begin on secure entry vestibules at all schools during
off hours or days when school is not in session.
These are but a few of the improvements in
Glassboro Schools. GHS received the most attention
this summer, due to building needs. As projects move
forward into the summer, vast enhancements will
continue in all schools.
DOROTHY L. BULLOCK SCHOOL
BECOMES A PDS
Dorothy L. Bullock students will gain additional
classroom support and their teachers will enjoy
greater access to professional development this year.
These benefits come as a result of the school’s
transition to becoming a Rowan University
Professional Development School this fall.
Dorothy L. Bullock School is the second Rowan
University Professional Development School in the
Glassboro School District. Glassboro and Rowan
forged their first Professional Development School
last school year when Thomas E. Bowe School
became a Professional Development School. The
venture is also expected to provide the school district
with greater access to educational research that can
be implemented in Schools.
GHS ADDS BIOMEDICAL TRACK
TO STEM ACADEMY
Glassboro School District will proudly unveil a
Biomedical Track to its STEM Academy in fall 2017.
This program will offer opportunities for high school
students who want to explore a career in healthcare
and will include both high school and Rowan
University courses. The school district will take
student applications for this new program beginning
in the fall of 2016. Applications for out-of-district
(School Choice) students will be due by December 1,
2016. For more information on program specifics and
application deadlines for Glassboro students, contact

offers a Fine and Performing Arts Academy in
addition to its STEM Academy. For information

GHS STUDENTS ATTEND SUMMER
STEAM ACADEMY
A group of GHS students attended the second
summer of the Rowan University STEAM program.
Rowan University’s program provides opportunities
for students to earn university credits, experience life
on a college campus and explore careers in science,
technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. The
school district thanks Rowan University for offering
advanced opportunities to New Jersey high school
student. The district also thanks the following
organizations for sponsoring Glassboro students
attending this program: AT&T, Glassboro Municipal
Alliance, New Jersey Department of Labor and
Workforce Development, Nexus Properties and the
Glassboro Board of Education.

1,000 rebates in 2015. Pick up your free card at the Boro Hall
Municipal Building or at your local Investors Bank.
Whenever Glassboro homeowners make purchases from participating businesses using their
Shop Glassboro Card, they will receive credits toward their residential property tax bill.
Renters, out-of-towners and Rowan University employees can also use the card, and will be
