Maritime Arresting Technologies increase physical
security and resilience at Port Tampa
Tampa, Florida: On August 1st,
2016 Maritime Arresting Technologies
and SRT Supply completed its
delivery of port security enhancement
technology to Port Tampa
Bay. Maritime Arresting Technologies
is a U.S. based veteran-owned
company that develops physical
security enhancement devices for
use by ports, law enforcement agencies,
government and military. Port
Tampa Bay has implemented several
new products from Maritime Arresting
Technologies, including the
innovative new reel mounted boom
system, a mobile physical security
device only available from this company.
“The innovative reel mounted
booms can close off the mouth of
a dock in 6 minutes providing protection
from BIED threats. When
not in use they are easily stored on
land.”, said Matthew Searle, Chief
Technology Officer at Maritime Arresting
Technologies. “When combined
with our containment booms
they provide a multi-layer defence
against environmental and security
threats.”, he concluded
Maritime Arresting Technologies
is based in St. Petersburg, Florida
and it’s technology developments
are headed up by Mr. Searle. He has
spent his career taking ideas from
initial design brief through research
and proof of concept and named in
over 20 patents in applications for
boat stopping systems and body armour,
among others. Most recently
Maritime Arresting Technologies
has developed the MK4 Launcher, a
portable boat stopping device.
“We have developed and refined a
Non-Lethal Boat Stopping Systems
into an easy to use, low cost, highly
effective means of stopping boats
without damage to boats or occupants
which is now in production.”,
said Shawn Splide, Director of Maritime
Arresting Technologies.

Mr. Searle reflecting on the completion
of the delivery at Port Tampa
Bay, “we believe that having such
an important port like Tampa begin
using our technology will allow us
to work with other players of this
calibre in the future.”
Only a few months previous to the
delivery, Maritime Arresting Technologies,
SRT Supply and the Sheriff
’s Department completed a highprofile,
live-action demonstration of
these new technologies at the Port
Security Operations Conference in
Tampa for hundreds of spectators.
The demonstration captured the attention
of local media as it unfolded
depicting an imitation boat-chase
on the water in front of the Tampa
