Letter<br />
I’m firmly of the mindset which sees autumn as a<br />
fresh start. All those associations with new school<br />
shoes and shiny new pencil cases stir my blood<br />
every year. This one more than ever as I’m moving<br />
house - first into a temporary rental, as my new home is<br />
currently a bomb site with no kitchen or bathroom.<br />
So what perfect timing to be putting together a <strong>Kitchen</strong><br />
and <strong>Bathroom</strong> <strong>supplement</strong> for the magazine (page 95)<br />
giving me licence to spend several weeks immersing myself<br />
in the latest trends in these two key areas of the home.<br />
Also inspiring my new decorative scheme are this month’s<br />
houses. Stately Georgian pile Goodnestone Park (page 34)<br />
has been updated with a perfect balance of period style<br />
and contemporary chic by design duo Marcus Crane and<br />
Francesca Rowan-Plowden. Really something to aspire to.<br />
I’ve also found lots of brilliant ideas to borrow<br />
and great sources of lovely things to buy from our<br />
other house this month (page 74). This is a very<br />
different prospect – a classic beach house – but in a<br />
lovely link up it was also designed by Francesca.<br />
I hope you find as much inspiration reading this month’s<br />
<strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>Homes</strong> as we have putting it together.<br />
