THE RETURN OF THE VETERANS
AFTER THEIR NHL CAMPS, DESROCHER AND HELVIG WELCOMED BACK TO THE FRONTS ROSTER
The Kingston Frontenacs have come to accept
the reality that good teams transfer
into good drafts which mean bearer cupboards
on the roster early in the season. Early in the
2014-15 season the wait for Sam Bennett’s
return had the club playing the waiting game.
Last season, the question of Lawson Crouse’s
return from Florida was quickly answered
when he was returned from the Panthers at
the end of their camp. So far this season the
Frontenacs have enjoyed the return of veterans
Stephen Desrocher (Toronto Maple Leafs)
and Jeremy Helvig (Carolina Hurricanes) while
they await the fate of Warren Foegele (Carolina
Hurricanes) and Lawson Crouse (Arizona Coyotes)
as the NHL season begins this weekend.
Spencer Watson continues to recover from
wrist surgery and isn’t expected to return to
the roster until mid-year.
ROADY ROUND UP: Since the home opener on
Friday, September 23, the Frontenacs have
played four straight road games before returning
home tonight. The Frontenacs were .500
on the road, starting with a 7-2 loss in Hamilton,
a 5-0 win in Niagara, a 6-1 loss in Erie,
and a 2-1 win in Ottawa last night.
The Fronteancs now have four straight
home games, beginning with tonight’s matchup
against Sagniaw, before heading back on
the road to Windsor, Saginaw, and Flint beginning
on October 20.
PINK IN THE RINK: Next Friday’s game vs. Sault
Ste. Marie will see the return of the popular
pink jerseys as the Kingston Frontenacs honour
breast cancers surivors and their families
with the annual Pink In The Rink. The game
will also feature the Surivor Walk during the
first intermission. Listen for SideShow’s cue on
the public address system and join us as we
honour the cancer fighters at the game next
Friday.
