The yellow packet on these pages<br />
contains ten sunflower seeds as<br />
a gift from St Chad’s church.<br />
These seeds are of the highest<br />
quality and with a little care<br />
should produce plants up to<br />
three metres tall with giant<br />
yellow heads.<br />
We are giving 54,000 seeds<br />
to homes, businesses and<br />
schools in Woodseats,<br />
Beauchief and Chancet Wood<br />
and holding a competition to<br />
reward the best results.<br />
Why? You might ask.<br />
Well, partly because, as a church, we<br />
like to give, but also we wanted to<br />
encourage an activity which would be fun<br />
and easy and provide a common interest<br />

for the community. Sunflowers are<br />
simple to grow, the results can be<br />
spectacular and you don’t need<br />
a big garden (or a garden at<br />
all).<br />
In addition to the pleasure we<br />
hope you will get from seeing<br />
these seeds grow and the<br />
spectacle of seeing the<br />
area ablaze with yellow,<br />
we are also holding a<br />
competition with<br />
trophies, medals and<br />
£100s of excellent prizes.<br />
