The keys to a win for the Kingston
Frontenacs tonight against the Flint
Firebirds will come down to how effective
they are on three key points in their gameplan.
1. SMALL ADJUSTMENTS TO A SUCCESSFUL GAME
PLAN The hardest thing about playing a team
in back to back games is that they now know
what to expect. Kingston beat Flint 5-3 less
than a week ago. Flint has had that time to go
over film and adjust their game plan to try and
2. WE NEED TO SEE 3 FULL PERIODS Kingston has
had issues with taking some time off in most
games. It seems there is a stretch in every
game where the Fronts opponent is able to
control the game. In the Windsor game, granted
Windsor is a very good team, it took Kingston
nearly two periods to get going at which point
they were already down 2-0. The Saginaw game
saw Kingston start very strong but fade as the
game went on and it cost them a 2 goal lead
and the game. Even in the Flint game they saw
themselves up 2-0 before allowing Flint to tie
it 2-2. This is one of the learning curves for a
BILLY KIMMERLY
flip the result this time around. Kingston would
like to do the same things as the previous
game to get the same result, but that isn’t likely
to happen. In order to get the back to back
wins they are looking for against Flint, Paul will
need to make small adjustments to the game
plan and the players will have to successfully
execute.
young team. It’s hard for any team to play three
consistent periods, but the youth of this team
means they have little experience dealing with it,
at least at this level. The faster they learn to play
a solid, full length game, the more wins they will
be awarded with.
3. CONTINUE TO GROW THE CHEMISTRY Now that
we have played double digit games and the
roster is mostly set, we are finally starting to see
some chemistry being built between players.
Players are trusting each other more and
more. Although it’s great to watch this coming
together, there is still work to be done. In fact
this will go on for a good chunk of the season.
All the players can do is continue to work on it.
For now it’s just like a new relationship. Players
will grow together and become stronger and
stronger. Tonight is another piece to the puzzle.
