Pr<strong>of</strong>essor M<strong>at</strong>thew W. Finkin, the Albert J. Harno and<br />

Edward J. Cleary Chair, published the fourteenth edition<br />

<strong>of</strong> his casebook with Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Robert A. Gorman, Labor<br />

<strong>Law</strong>, and the 2006 Cumul<strong>at</strong>ive Supplement to his tre<strong>at</strong>ise,<br />

Privacy in Employment <strong>Law</strong> (2d ed. 2003). He also published<br />

<strong>University</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essors (AAUP) to which he is a consultant.<br />

He addressed the Twenty-Third Carl A. Warns Labor and<br />

Employment <strong>Law</strong> Institute <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Louisville<br />

on June 8, 2006, and was a speaker <strong>at</strong> the Labor <strong>Law</strong> Trust<br />

Group Conference in Sar<strong>at</strong>oga Springs, New York, on June<br />

27, 2006. His service as a member <strong>of</strong> the AAUP's Special<br />

Committee on Hurricane K<strong>at</strong>rina and New Orleans<br />

Universities brought him to an inspection visit to New<br />

Orleans, August 16--18; and his editorship <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Compar<strong>at</strong>ive Labor <strong>Law</strong> & Policy Journal brought him to<br />

the World Congress <strong>of</strong> the Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Society for Labor<br />

and Social Security <strong>Law</strong> in Paris, France, September 5--8,<br />

in conjunction with which he presided over a joint meeting<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Journal's Editorial Advisory Board and the Advisory<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong>'s Program in Compar<strong>at</strong>ive<br />

Labor and Employment <strong>Law</strong> & Policy.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Finkin, the Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Illinois</strong> Program in<br />

Labor <strong>Law</strong>, was quoted in the July 14 edition <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Chicago Tribune on union concessions in a recent agreement<br />

between Chrysler and the United Auto Workers. The<br />

concessions by the United Auto Workers union showed<br />

"they're flexible in facing economic reality," said Finkin.<br />

"They understand this is wh<strong>at</strong> they have to do to keep<br />

jobs."<br />

GINSBURG -<br />

Served as a guest lecturer <strong>at</strong> Kyushu <strong>University</strong> in<br />

Fukuoka, Japan for a gradu<strong>at</strong>e seminar<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Tom Ginsburg also organized the conference<br />

and presented the papers, "R<strong>at</strong>ional Design <strong>of</strong> Legal<br />

Institutions" and "<strong>Law</strong>yers and the Legal Complex in<br />

Northeast Asia" to the <strong>Law</strong> and Society Associ<strong>at</strong>ion, July 7-<br />

8; presented "The Lifespan <strong>of</strong> Constitutions" <strong>at</strong> Chuo<br />

<strong>University</strong> in Tokyo, Japan on July 18, "Intern<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

Substitutes for Domestic Institutions" <strong>at</strong> Kobe <strong>University</strong>,<br />

Japan on July 20, and presented "Constitutional Review in<br />

Asia" to the Constitutional Court <strong>of</strong> Korea, July 31.<br />

GUNSALUS -<br />

Lectured on ethics across the n<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor C.K. Gunsalus particip<strong>at</strong>ed as the capstonespeaker<br />

on research ethics for the School <strong>of</strong> Integr<strong>at</strong>ive<br />

Biology <strong>at</strong> UC-Davis in a year-long research ethics series,<br />

presented <strong>at</strong> the Indiana <strong>University</strong> Poynter Center's annual<br />

workshop on Teaching Research Ethics, and lectured <strong>at</strong><br />

the Second Annual Congress <strong>of</strong> Qualit<strong>at</strong>ive Inquiry on<br />

Institutional Review Boards. She also spoke <strong>at</strong> the FOCUS<br />

conference for Institutional Review Boards and Research<br />

Ethics Boards and gave the keynote speech <strong>at</strong> a research<br />

ethics conference for the Long Island Jewish He<strong>at</strong>h Care<br />

system, "Collabor<strong>at</strong>ions through Communic<strong>at</strong>ion: Breaking<br />
