His article, Copyright, Originality, and the End of the
Scenes a Faire and Merger Doctrines for Visual Works, will
be published in the Fall 2006 edition of the Baylor Law
Review and he recently released three newly revised and
updated chapters for The Deskbook of Art Law (Oxford
Univ. Press), the 2006 supplements for Jurisdiction, Venue,
and Limitations (Thomson West 2005) and Civil Rules
Practice (Thomson West 2005), and the last four chapters
of the newly revised and updated Deskbook of Art Law
(Oxford University Press, Oceana Division). Professor
Murray was recently added as a new co-author for the
next edition of Art Law in a Nutshell (West Group) and
added as a co-author for an updated edition of The Law
(in Plain English®) for Health Care Professionals
(Sourcebooks/Sphinx).
NOWAK
Co-author of reference book on Constitutional Law
Professor John E. Nowak, David C. Baum Professor
Emeritus, coauthored, with Jenner Professor Emeritus
Ronald Rotunda, the second edition of their reference book
for students: Principles of Constitutional Law. Professors
Nowak and Rotunda also published the 2006 Supplements
to their multivolume reference work, Treatise on
Constitutional Law: Substance and Procedure. They currently
are revising the first two volumes of their Treatise
and writing supplements for the remaining volumes of the
Treatise, all of which will be published by West in 2007.
PFANDER -
Published on Federal Jurisdiction
Professor James Pfander, the Prentice Marshall Professor,
published a book earlier this year, Principles of Federal
Jurisdiction. His latest article on the Supreme Court's role
in relation to inferior tribunals will appear in the
December issue of the Northwestern Law Review.
Professor Pfander will attend an October conference in
honor of Paul Mishkin at the University of California's
Boalt Hall School of Law. He continues his work as a consultant
to the Federal-State Jurisdiction Committee of the
Judicial Conference of the United States.

Quoted in Chicago Sun Times on city jurisdiction
Professor Laurie Reynolds was quoted in the Chicago
FACULTY NEWS
Sun-Times on the issue of city jurisdiction as the Chicago
City Council passed a resolution requiring 'Big Box' retailers
to pay their employers at least $10 per hour and $3 per
hour in benefits by 2010. "I think the Illinois Constitution
and the case law interpreting the constitution supports the
legitimacy of this ordinance as well within the city's power
to regulate its local affairs," said Reynolds.

“The Sarbanes-Oxley Debacle”
Professor Larry Ribstein, the Mildred Van Voorhis Jones
Chair, was quoted in the May 18 edition of the Wall Street
Journal Online Law Blog on the Securities and Exchange
Commission's announcement that small companies will
have to comply with section 404, the so-called internal
controls provisions, of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
Professor Ribstein's recently published book, "The
Sarbanes-Oxley Debacle" was quoted extensively in the
Congressional Quarterly in August in the article, "Losing a
Taste for SOX?"
Professor Ribstein and his popular blog site, "Ideoblog",
have been quoted frequently in national media, including
USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York
Times. The Wall Street Journal story (June 5) entitled "The
Enron Task Force: Winning at All Costs?" focuses on
Professor Ribstein's commentary on the prosecution team
and its pursuit of a Lay conviction. He was quoted in both
the May 22 and May 30 editions of USA Today on the
Justice Department's prosecution of securities class-action
law firm Milberg Weiss. He was also highlighted in the
May 30 Wall Street Journal Law Blog article, "Are
Corporations going the way of the Edsel?" Professor
Ribstein provides information on the growth of LLCs and
the shrinking number of traditional corporation filings. He
also appeared in the July 7 edition of the ABA Journal on
Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission
debate on whether the Sarbanes-Oxley Act should apply to
all public companies.
Professor Ribstein participated in a week-long debate
with Jonathan Wilson on PointofLaw.com, a web magazine
sponsored by the Manhattan Institute and AEI Liability
Project, on the merits of legal ethics rules requiring a
license to practice law. The debate was featured in the Wall
Street Journal Online Law Blog.
