Ronald Rotunda, the second edition <strong>of</strong> their reference book<br />

for students: Principles <strong>of</strong> Constitutional <strong>Law</strong>. Pr<strong>of</strong>essors<br />

Nowak and Rotunda also published the 2006 Supplements<br />

to their multivolume reference work, Tre<strong>at</strong>ise on<br />

Constitutional <strong>Law</strong>: Substance and Procedure. They currently<br />

are revising the first two volumes <strong>of</strong> their Tre<strong>at</strong>ise<br />

and writing supplements for the remaining volumes <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Tre<strong>at</strong>ise, all <strong>of</strong> which will be published by West in 2007.<br />

PFANDER -<br />

Published on Federal Jurisdiction<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor James Pfander, the Prentice Marshall Pr<strong>of</strong>essor,<br />

published a book earlier this year, Principles <strong>of</strong> Federal<br />

Jurisdiction. His l<strong>at</strong>est article on the Supreme Court's role<br />

in rel<strong>at</strong>ion to inferior tribunals will appear in the<br />

December issue <strong>of</strong> the Northwestern <strong>Law</strong> Review.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Pfander will <strong>at</strong>tend an October conference in<br />

honor <strong>of</strong> Paul Mishkin <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> California's<br />

Boalt Hall School <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong>. He continues his work as a consultant<br />

to the Federal-St<strong>at</strong>e Jurisdiction Committee <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Judicial Conference <strong>of</strong> the United St<strong>at</strong>es.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Laurie Reynolds was quoted in the Chicago<br />

Sun-Times on the issue <strong>of</strong> city jurisdiction as the Chicago<br />

City Council passed a resolution requiring 'Big Box' retailers<br />

to pay their employers <strong>at</strong> least $10 per hour and $3 per<br />

hour in benefits by 2010. "I think the <strong>Illinois</strong> Constitution<br />

and the case law interpreting the constitution supports the<br />

legitimacy <strong>of</strong> this ordinance as well within the city's power<br />

to regul<strong>at</strong>e its local affairs," said Reynolds.<br />

RIBSTEIN -<br />

“The Sarbanes-Oxley Debacle”<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Larry Ribstein, the Mildred Van Voorhis Jones<br />

Chair, was quoted in the May 18 edition <strong>of</strong> the Wall Street<br />

Journal Online <strong>Law</strong> Blog on the Securities and Exchange<br />

Commission's announcement th<strong>at</strong> small companies will<br />

have to comply with section 404, the so-called internal<br />

controls provisions, <strong>of</strong> the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Ribstein's recently published book, "The<br />

Sarbanes-Oxley Debacle" was quoted extensively in the<br />

Congressional Quarterly in August in the article, "Losing a<br />

Taste for SOX?"<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Ribstein and his popular blog site, "Ideoblog",<br />

have been quoted frequently in n<strong>at</strong>ional media, including<br />

USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York<br />

Times. The Wall Street Journal story (June 5) entitled "The<br />

Enron Task Force: Winning <strong>at</strong> All Costs?" focuses on<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Ribstein's commentary on the prosecution team<br />

and its pursuit <strong>of</strong> a Lay conviction. He was quoted in both<br />

the May 22 and May 30 editions <strong>of</strong> USA Today on the<br />

Justice Department's prosecution <strong>of</strong> securities class-action<br />

law firm Milberg Weiss. He was also highlighted in the<br />

May 30 Wall Street Journal <strong>Law</strong> Blog article, "Are<br />

Corpor<strong>at</strong>ions going the way <strong>of</strong> the Edsel?" Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

Ribstein provides inform<strong>at</strong>ion on the growth <strong>of</strong> LLCs and<br />

the shrinking number <strong>of</strong> traditional corpor<strong>at</strong>ion filings. He<br />

also appeared in the July 7 edition <strong>of</strong> the ABA Journal on<br />

Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission<br />

deb<strong>at</strong>e on whether the Sarbanes-Oxley Act should apply to<br />

all public companies.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Ribstein particip<strong>at</strong>ed in a week-long deb<strong>at</strong>e<br />

with Jon<strong>at</strong>han Wilson on Point<strong>of</strong><strong>Law</strong>.com, a web magazine<br />

sponsored by the Manh<strong>at</strong>tan Institute and AEI Liability<br />

Project, on the merits <strong>of</strong> legal ethics rules requiring a<br />

license to practice law. The deb<strong>at</strong>e was fe<strong>at</strong>ured in the Wall<br />

Street Journal Online <strong>Law</strong> Blog.<br />
