AARHUS - 50 TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
On Sunday 27 November we will celebrate a half-century of
Anglican services in Aarhus.
A special Service of Thanksgiving will be held at 18.00 in Møllevang’s
Church on Sunday 27 November. The Saint Alban’s Church Choir will
travel over to sing at the service, and all who would like to attend the event
are welcome to make the journey too.
In November 1966 the first-ever English language Anglican service
in Aarhus was held in Vor Frue Kirke when Marion Gyde Poulsen arranged
for the Revd Harold L. Hertzler, Chaplain of Saint Alban’s in Copenhagen,
to travel to Jutland. Two years later, on 27 November 1968, another
Anglican service was held in Møllevang’s Church in Aarhus, this time
conducted by the Revd Hugh Picton of Saint Alban’s. Since then, the
English language services have continued at Møllevang’s Church and in
2015 the services were moved to the last Sunday of every month. Ever since
the congregation has seen significant growth.
Train fares for 20 people will be paid by St Alban’s to enable them to
travel to Aarhus (Departing Copenhagen at 13.00. Leaving Aarhus at 21.00).
Please contact Churchwardens@st-albans.dk or phone Chris Parker if you
would like to join the celebration with our fellow Anglican friends from
Aarhus.
