LUNCH TO THANK THE GUARDIANS 2016

True to tradition, when the church
closes to visitors at the end of
September, a lunch is held at the
vicarage to thank all the Guardians for
their many hours of loyal service.
There is a long list of Guardians, who
open the doors of the church from
Monday to Saturday and on Sunday
afternoon, from April to September.
They provide a warm welcome to
literally thousands of visitors every
year.
The smiles and brief words of welcome
are well rewarded with small donations
in many currencies. This year our team
of welcomers surpassed themselves in what they quietly raised in funds for the
church. It was clear that opening a month early was a very good move. In
addition to a mass of bags of Euros waiting to be taken to Deutsche Bundesbank
to be exchanged, we have many Swedish and Norwegian, American and British
coins and a lot of other smaller bags of coins from around the world, carefully
sorted this year by Claire and
Rosemary. This year we have
kept a running total of the
Danish Kroner collected and
banked, and the foreign
currency notes. The total this
year was an astounding Dkk
265,843.50!
We have a great deal to thank
Rosemary Bohr for in this
regard, so a large orchid was
simply a token of our gratitude
to her, for organising,
monitoring, chasing up and
trouble-shooting the Guardians
schedule, but also for sharing
the banking task with a busy churchwarden. Warmest thanks, Rosemary!
