For the 104 th time Jenny
Nystrøm’s “Tomten” the Swedish
Father Christmas (left) will chime
in the annual Bazaar, held by the
Swedish church.
Many in their congregation feel
that Christmas starts with the now
famous bazaar which begins on
Friday afternoon at 15.00 and runs
until 17.00 on Sunday evening.
Just as St Alban’s does in the summer, there are concerts in the church. Tomten
and his Elves will visit the church at 15.00 on Saturday and at 12.00 on Sunday.
At 14.00 on Sunday afternoon there will be a Gospel concert by the Victoria
Choir.
Children are encouraged to make their own christmas decorations and to ‘klip og
klistre’ (cut and paste) in the church while the adults drink gløgg and coffee and
eat the traditional brunekager.
Gustaf Church, part of the Church of Sweden Abroad, is the church of the
Swedish congregation in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built from 1907 to 1911
to the design of Theodor Wåhlin and is named after King Gustaf V of Sweden. It
has recently undergone extensive renovation.
