XMAS MARKETS OUTSIDE TATE
MODERN FOR FESTIVE SEASON
Xmas Markets Ltd. will be returning
to the superb location outside Tate
Modern for the third year in a row and
will transform the area between Tate
Modern and the Thames into a beautiful
Chrismassy setting. The response for the
last three years has been very positive
and this event is now a fixed ‘to do’
during the run-up to Christmas in
Central London.
The Christmas Market is easily
reached via public transport – the
closest stations are Blackfriars,
Southwark or St. Paul’s via the
Millennium Bridge. There is also the
Bankside Pier with regular passenger
boat services up and down the river.
Long-term traders will be returning to
Tate Modern as well as new traders
specialising in a whole host of
Christmas gifts.
Visitors will experience a taste of
what a traditional, beautifully lit
Christmas Market has to offer.
Authentically decorated wooden chalets
will sell a wide range of unique gifts and
unusual Christmas presents as well as
delicious food. Wooden and soft toys,
hand-made jewellery, beautiful lights
and many more Christmas products are
offered in a magical winter atmosphere.
Sip a warming ‘Glühwein’ (German
Mulled Wine), have a tasty beer, enjoy a
famous Bratwurst or indulge yourself
with other culinary specialities and
delicious treats. As well as shopping,
the children’s fairground ride within the
Christmas Market and traditional
Christmas music will enthral visitors,
filling them with the Christmas spirit.

Modern is organised by Xmas Markets
Ltd., a family business and an
established UK company since 2002,
with a German background, who create
events and markets with a traditional
Christmas atmosphere.

IN RAGTIME
Earl Carpenter, who starred in the
West End and on Broadway as The
Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera,
and West End star Anita Louise Combe
are heading the cast of a major new
actor-musician production of Ragtime.
Ragtime led the 1998 Tony Awards with
12 nominations, winning 4. This new
production follows critically acclaimed
Titanic as the second in-house production
at Charing Cross Theatre, directed by
Artistic Director Thom Southerland and
produced by Danielle Tarento, Steven M
Levy, Sean Sweeney and Vaughan
Williams.
It is the turn of the 20th Century in
New York. An era is exploding. A century
is spinning. And the people are moving
in rhythm and rhyme to the music of
Ragtime. Based on the novel by
E.L Doctorow, Ragtime weaves together
the story of three groups in America,
represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr, a
Harlem musician; Mother and her white,
middle class family in New Rochelle;
and Tateh, a Jewish immigrant who has
come to America with his daughter
seeking a new life. Their fictional lives
become dramatically intertwined with
one another as well as with historical
figures including Harry Houdini,
Booker T. Washington, JP Morgan
and Henry Ford.
