Local health protection teams Updated Jan 2016<br />

Local Health Protection Teams lead Public Health <strong>England</strong>’s response to <strong>in</strong>cidents and outbreaks <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>fectious<br />

diseases and threats to health from non-<strong>in</strong>fectious hazards.<br />

Activities <strong>in</strong>clude: local disease surveillance; ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g alert systems; <strong>in</strong>vestigat<strong>in</strong>g and manag<strong>in</strong>g health<br />

protection <strong>in</strong>cidents and outbreaks and deliver<strong>in</strong>g and monitor<strong>in</strong>g national action plans for <strong>in</strong>fectious diseases at<br />

local level.<br />
