Oil on canvas, bought by Nasjonalgalleriet (The National Gallery) in 1977. Peer Lorentz DahI was born in Bergen, Norway 7 November 1915. He had his debut at the State Annual Autumn Exhibition in 1935. in the 1 960s and 1 970s, space construction became important in his paintings. The paintings are developed with a clear, marked geometric centre, and contours divide surfaces in a number of non-naturalistic planes. DahI focuses on representation of atmospheric spatial effects within the boundaries of variations in light colour scale and an evenly distributed light. The abstraction between the geometric construction of a room and the atmospheric reproduction is evident in his paintings. His works are characterised by a marked and personal style.
