And most important of all: All that has changed are the names!
The products behind the names and their chemical characteristics
remain exactly the same – with identical high quality, identical
technical specifications, and identical reliable performance.
The brands harmonized here are exclusively the newly integrated
products.
A further deciding factor: The integration of the former product
names into the BASF portfolio will be smooth. BASF provides you
with comprehensive information, plus a transition period of at
least 2 years.

with high user acceptance.
The designation system for BASF colors is also based on the
BASF color circle. The system and all its elements are explained

The designation system.
With its nomenclature, BASF structures the products of its harmonized
color portfolio into six elements. This forms the basis of
Brand Harmonization Colors.
The six elements are: 1 product brand 2 color 3 area of use
4 position in the color circle 5 serial number, and 6 application
indicator. With the aid of this system, each of our products is
precisely and clearly designated – and can easily be recognized
by you.

Position in the color circle
The BASF color circle is divided into
ten sectors, numbered from 0 to 9. For
precise determination of color, each of
these sectors is divided once again into
a fine series of sub-sectors, from 0 to 9.
The first digit denotes the position
of the color within the ten basic
sectors.
The second digit denotes the fine
positioning of the color within the
sub-sectors.

We want the changeover to our nomenclature to be smooth, clear,
and simple. That is why we support you here from start to finish,
in partnership, and proactively – with your needs constantly in mind.
The kit
The two posters* enclosed with this kit provide (a) a clear explanation
of the system behind the nomenclature, with examples,
and (b) a full list of the newly integrated products. This makes it
simpler than ever to find the new product designations you
require.
Transition phase of at least 2 years
The BASF nomenclature will be valid for the newly integrated
products as of January 16, 2012. From this technical change date
on, you have at least 2 years to change over to the new designations.
During the transition phase, both the new and the former
names will remain valid.
