<strong>Learning</strong> for life courses give you<br />

the basic knowledge <strong>and</strong> skills in<br />

English <strong>and</strong> maths that you will need for<br />

any job or activity you choose to do. On<br />

all our courses you will have the opportunity<br />

to gain a qualification.<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> for Life<br />

English <strong>and</strong> Maths<br />

We have courses for all levels from beginners (Pre-Entry) to more advanced<br />

(Level 2 <strong>and</strong> GCSE). Our courses will help you to:<br />

• improve your speaking <strong>and</strong> listening skills<br />

• become more confident with your reading, writing <strong>and</strong> maths<br />

• develop those skills you need to get a job or help your children<br />

We offer morning, afternoon <strong>and</strong> evening classes in a community setting near<br />

you. All our classes are taught by experienced <strong>and</strong> qualified teachers.<br />

Most courses run twice-a-week for 16 weeks <strong>and</strong> combine Cambridge<br />

Progression Units <strong>and</strong> Functional <strong>Skills</strong> to help you develop your skills. We also<br />

run once-a-week courses including a flexible roll-on programme <strong>and</strong> GCSE<br />

English <strong>and</strong> maths evening classes.<br />

We also have a short course designed for learners with dyslexia which explores<br />

using different learning styles <strong>and</strong> resources to develop confidence with their<br />

English <strong>and</strong> maths skills.<br />

ESOL (English for Speakers<br />

of Other Languages)<br />

English classes for people whose first language<br />

is not English.<br />

Our ESOL courses will help you to:<br />

• improve your speaking <strong>and</strong> listening<br />

• develop your reading <strong>and</strong> writing in English<br />

• prepare for work in the future<br />

• learn about life in the UK<br />

We have ESOL courses for all levels from<br />

are fun, lively <strong>and</strong> multicultural. All our<br />

classes are taught by highly experienced<br />

How to Enrol<br />

Before you join our English, Maths or<br />

ESOL courses, you will need to come<br />

<strong>and</strong> talk to one of our tutors.<br />

The tutor will talk to you <strong>and</strong> ask you<br />

to do some English <strong>and</strong> / or maths or<br />

reading <strong>and</strong> writing activities to find<br />

out your level <strong>and</strong> give advice about<br />

the best class for you.<br />

Initial Assessments take place every<br />

Thursday at <strong>Leicester</strong> <strong>Adult</strong> Education<br />

details.<br />

ESOL Interviews:<br />

• On the day of the assessment please<br />

bring your passport <strong>and</strong> ID Card.<br />

• ESOL classes are not automatically<br />

free, but many learners are eligible for<br />

free courses or reduced fees. Please<br />

bring any proof of benefits <strong>and</strong>/ or<br />

method of payment with you on the day<br />

of your assessment. In some cases we<br />

can arrange for you to pay the fees in<br />

instalments.<br />

• At the assessment you will be told<br />

which level you need to study <strong>and</strong><br />

agree a timetable.<br />
