Learning for life courses give you the basic knowledge and skills in English and maths that you will need for any job or activity you choose to do. On all our courses you will have the opportunity to gain a qualification. Learning for Life English and Maths We have courses for all levels from beginners (Pre-Entry) to more advanced (Level 2 and GCSE). Our courses will help you to: • improve your speaking and listening skills • become more confident with your reading, writing and maths • develop those skills you need to get a job or help your children We offer morning, afternoon and evening classes in a community setting near you. All our classes are taught by experienced and qualified teachers. Most courses run twice-a-week for 16 weeks and combine Cambridge Progression Units and Functional Skills to help you develop your skills. We also run once-a-week courses including a flexible roll-on programme and GCSE English and maths evening classes. We also have a short course designed for learners with dyslexia which explores using different learning styles and resources to develop confidence with their English and maths skills. ENGLISH AND MATHS COURSES ARE FREE ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) English classes for people whose first language is not English. Our ESOL courses will help you to: • improve your speaking and listening • develop your reading and writing in English • prepare for work in the future • learn about life in the UK We have ESOL courses for all levels from beginners to advanced. We offer morning, afternoon and evening classes in a community setting near you. Our classes are fun, lively and multicultural. All our classes are taught by highly experienced and well qualified teachers. How to Enrol Before you join our English, Maths or ESOL courses, you will need to come and talk to one of our tutors. The tutor will talk to you and ask you to do some English and / or maths or reading and writing activities to find out your level and give advice about the best class for you. Initial Assessments take place every Thursday at Leicester Adult Education College please call 0116 454 1900 for details. ESOL Interviews: • On the day of the assessment please bring your passport and ID Card. • ESOL classes are not automatically free, but many learners are eligible for free courses or reduced fees. Please bring any proof of benefits and/ or method of payment with you on the day of your assessment. In some cases we can arrange for you to pay the fees in instalments. • At the assessment you will be told which level you need to study and agree a timetable. Our programme of nonaccredited courses means that Learning for Leisure you can appreciate the experience of trying something new without worrying about exams, and our low fees mean that more people than ever can take advantage of the opportunity to break out of the old routine and taste a new experience.
