Outside doors to the lane have fallen off years ago<br />
Dozens of massive planks nailed across the entrance<br />
The timbers hold<strong>in</strong>g the roof were rotten and sagg<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
The whole th<strong>in</strong>g could collapse at any moment<br />
A little cracked w<strong>in</strong>dow stood <strong>in</strong> one of the walls<br />
Barely transparent, just enough light passes to see<br />
Filthy rolls of cracked l<strong>in</strong>oleum stand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> front of it<br />
There’s enough dust to clog someone’s throat and nose<br />
Thick cobwebs are put to scare trespassers<br />
They fear the labyr<strong>in</strong>th<br />
My heart is a garage<br />
people visit dur<strong>in</strong>g open houses<br />
They come and go, but never stay<br />
They fear the mess <strong>in</strong>side<br />
The work needed to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> it<br />
The work needed to fix it<br />
An ugly exterior and even worse <strong>in</strong>terior<br />
