Temple Beth Orr welcomes new cantor<br />
Carrie Brawer Barry will serve as Cantor<br />
at Temple Beth Orr as of <strong>July</strong> 1st. Barry<br />
served as cantor at Temple Beth Torah<br />
in Wellington for a decade. She was<br />
born and raised in Coral Springs and<br />
is a graduate of J.P. Taravella High<br />
School. Barry is a National Merit Scholar<br />
and attended Vassar College where she<br />
received her bachelor of arts in religion,<br />
with both general and departmental<br />
honors. After graduation, Barry entered the Reform<br />
Movement’s seminary, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute<br />
of Religion-Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, in New<br />
York City. Cantor Barry will be joined at Temple Beth Orr by her<br />
husband Ian and their two sons, Blake and Eli.<br />
Old School Square Art Show<br />

The 3rd annual Cornell Art Museum Extraordinary 6x6 Art<br />
Show & Sale will begin on<br />
<strong>July</strong> 1st with the First Friday<br />
Art Walk. Artwork must be<br />
ready to hang on the wall<br />
(no table-top works can<br />
be accepted). All mediums<br />
are welcome -- paintings,<br />
drawings, photography, glass,<br />
wood, ceramic, metal, textile,<br />
collage, mixed media, etc. Participating artists and the public<br />
are invited to the opening of the 6x6 show. Works will remain<br />
on display through the month of <strong>July</strong>. The finale of the show wil<br />
culminate with the Extraordinary 6x6 Art Sale on Thursday, <strong>July</strong><br />
28th, 6-8pm. All proceeds benefit the Cornell Art Museum.<br />
Hurricane Season Through November 30th<br />
It is that time of year to begin preparations for hurricane<br />
season. Prepare your home by trimming trees and ensuring<br />
hurricane shutters are ready for installation. Be sure to have<br />
the supplies you need. This is also a good time to sign-up for<br />
emergency telephone alerts from the City of Parkland. Do so<br />
by visiting cityofparkland.org/codered.<br />
Cafe to benefit animals in need<br />
Animal Lovers Society Inc., is celebrating the grand opening<br />
of the new Animal Lovers Shoppe & Cafe in the Peppertree<br />
Plaza on Sample Road and 441 in Margate. The goal of the<br />
not-for-profit organization is to raise funds to help animals that<br />
are abused, neglected, needing new homes, or protection.<br />
The store features new, gently used, antique and unique<br />
repurposed furniture, clothes, accessories, decorative items,<br />
and jewelry. The Outdoor Patio Café will serve home baked<br />
goods, small plate specials, and an assortment of coffees<br />
and teas. Donations are needed to resell in the store.<br />
Volunteers are also welcome. The Shop is open from 10am<br />
- 5pm, Tues. thru Sat., and 11am - 5 pm on Sundays. It is<br />
