Key Findings<br />
In 2016, over one-quarter (26%) of Fairfield County youth have had sexual intercourse. 26% of<br />
youth had participated in oral sex and 8% had participated in anal sex. 30% of youth participated<br />
in sexting. Of those who were sexually active, 48% had multiple sexual partners. One Fairfield<br />
County school did not ask sexual behavior questions.<br />

Youth Sexual Behavior<br />
• Over one-quarter (26%) of Fairfield County youth have had sexual intercourse, increasing to<br />
49% of those ages 17 and over. (The YRBS reports 43% for Ohio in 2013 and 41% for U.S. in 2015).<br />
• 26% of youth had participated in oral sex, increasing to 44% of those ages 17 and over.<br />
• 8% of youth had participated in anal sex, increasing to 11% of those ages 17 and over.<br />
• 30% of youth had participated in sexting, increasing to 41% of those ages 17 and over.<br />
• 31% of youth had viewed pornography, increasing to 43% of males and 44% of those ages 17<br />
and over.<br />
• Of those youth who were sexually active in their lifetime, 52% had one sexual partner and 48%<br />
had multiple partners.<br />
• 7% of all Fairfield County youth had 4 or more sexual partners (YRBS reports 12% for Ohio in 2013<br />
and 12% for the U.S. in 2015).<br />
• 24% of all Fairfield County sexually active youth had 4 or more partners (2013 YRBS reports 28%<br />
for Ohio).<br />
• Of those youth who were sexually active, 18% had done so by the age of 13. Another 35% had<br />
done so by 15 years of age. The average age of onset was 14.3 years old.<br />
• Of all youth, 5% were sexually active before the age of 13 (YRBS reports 4% for Ohio in 2013<br />
and 4% for the U.S. in 2015).<br />
• Fairfield County youth had experienced the following: wanted to get pregnant (3%), had sex<br />
in exchange for something of value such as food, drugs, shelter or money (2%), got someone<br />
pregnant (2%), tried to get pregnant (1%), been pregnant (1%), had been treated for an STD<br />
(1%), had a child (1%), and had an abortion (
