Birdland, in its third incarnation, continues<br />

to book the top acts in jazz—such as the<br />

Chucho Valdes-Joe Lovano Quintet, which<br />

appeared at the club in November—on a<br />

nightly basis. The original Birdland opened<br />

its doors nearly 70 years ago a block west<br />

from the jazz nexus on 52nd Street.<br />

Blue Note now has clubs in Milan, Hawaii,<br />

Napa, Beijing and Tokyo. All the jazz titans<br />

Chris Botti and Victor Wooten play the<br />

Club Bonafide is doing its part to keep the<br />

music alive in such a historic place. Richard<br />
