About

This isn’t a hobby; it’s in my blood. I’ve been infatuated with 

photography, and computers for as long as I can remember. 

From the first time I held my dad's Minolta in the late eighties, I 

was hooked. In high school, I was the yearbook photographer. 

In my junior year of high school I worked as a photographers 

assistant at Olan Mills where I worked for a few months before 

accepting a position at Expressly Portraits where I photographed 

with a Mamyia RB67, processed negatives and developed 

enlargements, I was promoted several times, eventually 

becoming Studio Manager. Additionally, I started assisting as a 

second shooter after training with Jerry Clay, an award winning 

wedding photographer in Northeast Ohio in the late 1990’s and 

had the privilege of photographing commercials events for the 

Cleveland State Convocation Center. My photography has been 

published, most notably for an image of the “Artist”. 

Fast forward well over a decade. I have always been the 

photographer in the family. I always had a camera in hand, 

always. Photography has always been the constant in my life. 

Here I am today, still passionate about people and my craft. It’s 

been a gift to capture a newborn’s portraits and take his senior 

portraits years later. 

When I am not behind the camera you will find me out and 

about in CLE with my husband and two children.

Preparing for Your Session 

Clothing 

Have your clothing chosen way in advance and make sure that your outfit choices are comfortable and 

attractive. What do your dream family photos look like? If they are soft and elegant? Chose neutral colors 

with soft, flowing fabrics…. think creams, very soft pastels, oatmeals, light browns, tans, grays, and slate 

blues. Want to showcase the fun and spunky side of your family? Choose coordinating colors (but not 

matchy, matchy) with bold accent colors, such as hues of gray with yellow or bright red accents. Adding fun 

accessories like scarves, headbands, hats, etc. can add a modern twist and sassy flair to your images. 

Well Rested & Fed 

Be certain not to schedule your photo session around your child’s nap or bedtime. The best time for 

lighting is the two hours before sunset and after sunrise. If this is a bad time for your children, talk with your 

photographer. Good photographers will be able to shoot at any time of day by utilizing areas of open 

shade that will give your skin a beautiful hue and put a sparkle in your eyes. Don’t show up to a photo 

shoot on an empty stomach. I meet many families who come to a photo session with dinner scheduled at 

the end. If this is your plan, be sure to give everyone a healthy snack before the photo shoot. 

Plan Ahead & Save Your Sanity 

Moms are often rushing around before a photo shoot, making sure that their family is dressed and ready. I 

always encourage mothers to have their hair and makeup professionally done. This will prepare mom for 

her pictures and when mom is feeling pretty and confident, this will reflect on the rest of the family as well. 

Leave plenty of time for showers, baths, dressing, and grooming. When a family shows up to a family photo 

session rushed and disorganized, it sets the tone for a rushed and disorganized session. Give yourself extra 

time so that you are ready before it’s time to head out that door. 

For The Gents 

Gentlemen, please cheerfully participate. I know that many dads dread the family photo session, but 

fathers, please understand how important capturing your family is. These images will be left as a legacy, 

when your children are grown, with families of their own some day. Family photos are treasured forever and 

they are so important. Please, please, gentleman… cheerfully participate in your family photo session. 

Once you see your happy wife/significant other and amazing photographs, you will be so glad that you gave 

this time to your family. 

Cheese is For Crackers 

Please, parents… leave the “cheese” at home. Cheese is for crackers. So many times I have found parents 

who stand behind the photographer and scream, “Say cheese to the lady kids!” Yelling and demanding 

young children to look at the camera to smile will only stress your children out (not to mention the 

photographer) and will result in strained, unnatural and often unflattering photographs. Step back, and 

allow the photographer to naturally interact and talk with your children. This will result in natural, gorgeous 

smiles. Help the photographer capture the true essence of your child’s personality by talking with and 

coaxing out those smiles naturally and easily. 

Have Fun With Your Family 

Don’t be afraid to pick up your children and toss them in the air. Give your wife a sweet kiss on the check. 

Tell your husband how much you love him and appreciate him for being there for your family. Have fun. 

Laugh. Giggle. Joke. Embrace. Kiss. Snuggle. Play. Doing these things will allow the photographer to 

capture the emotion and true beauty of your family. Leave the stiff “cheese” faces for Aunt Marge at the 

next family reunion. Show your photographer who you really are, so that she has the opportunity to capture 

your love through her lens. The best photographs are often the ones where everyone is engaged or 

interacting with each other. Understand that not every picture needs to have everyone looking at the 

camera and smiling at the same time. If you are engaged as a family and loving on each other, your eyes 

will be on your family members and your smile with be natural. These are the photographs that you will 

cherish most because they depict your family connection and your love.

How Bare Do You Dare? If you’re game, take a risk and show that belly 

off. 

Session Preparation 

Get your photos done somewhere around your 7 ½ – 8 month 

mark. You want a nice big belly, but don’t wait until you feel huge 

and uncomfortable. Plus you might want to show off some of your 

best photos at your baby shower!

Newborn Session 

About 

Newborn sessions MUST be scheduled within the first 14 days of life. However, the BEST 

time is between 3-7 days after their arrival. 

We’ll be moving them around and scrunching them into those sweet sleepy newborn 

images, so we want to make sure they’re sleepy enough to allow us to handle them. 


We recommend that you schedule your newborn session PRIOR to your baby’s birth to 

ensure a spot on our calendar. Contact us during your second trimester and we’ll pencil you 

in. Then, shoot us an email soon after you deliver so we can arrange a time for the session. 

(And we always feel super special when dad’s put us on the official “baby is here!” call list! 

Just sayin’…)

FAQ 

How long does this process take? 

From start to finish, the process for custom portraits can take anywhere from two weeks to a couple months. 

• Session scheduled 

• Pay retainer (due within 48 hours of session being scheduled, regardless of presence of gift certificate). 

• Consultation/ (via e-mail or phone) to coordinate location and details (71- days prior to session. Clients are encouraged to share any 

ideas at this time. 

• 30 minutes up to 2 hours, the session 

• Sneak Peek posted to Social Media outlets within two business days from session, you are encourages to share and tag however, we 

kindly ask that there are no cropping, editing to the shared images. 

• Typically within 10-12 business days (M-F) of your session you will receive login information via e-mail for your private online gallery 

which is available for 14 days once uploaded to place an order (with the exception of weddings). A rush fee can be added for $100, 

giving you access to your gallery in 3 business days or sooner. If the gallery needs to be reopened, an additional fee of $45 will be 

required. 

• Post to blog on website within 7 days from close of gallery. 

• Depending on how soon you place your order of prints, canvases and boutique items, your shipment will be delivered to your home 

usually within 4 weeks of your session. (This excludes weddings)

Inclement Weather 

Inclement Weather Cancellation Policy: If there is a 35% or greater chance of precipitation in the forecast on the date of your outdoor 

session we reserve the right to reschedule session for a later date within one month of the original date. 

After the session… Your options! 

• In person premiere ordering sessions, where I will can meet you at a coffee shop or another mutual agreed upon location and then I 

will guide you through the ordering process. You will also receive a link to your online gallery so you can view your images and family 

and friends can purchase images from your session after the ordering session. OR 

• Your images placed in an online gallery for you, your family, and friends to view in the comfort of your home! The online gallery will 

display the images from the session and you will have access to easy ordering of prints, canvases, albums, and boutique items! All 

major credit cards are accepted. Any products ordered will be shipped directly to you. 

What if your session needs to be re-scheduled? 

Things happen, that’s life! If you need to reschedule your session that is completely fine, we will find a date that works both of us. The 

retainer fee will be moved to secure your new date/time. If the session is cancelled the retainer fee is non refundable. Photography by 

Studio Eleven reserves the right to reschedule an outdoor session due to inclement weather. 

Where do you Print your prints/canvases/albums, etc.? 

All printing through Photography by Studio Eleven is done through a professional print lab to insure that our clients receive only the 

highest quality products. 

Professional Hair and Makeup 

I work with a couple amazing professional hair and makeup artists, managing cosmetologists. Professional hair and makeup starts at 

$100.00 and can be added to any session. 

Do you give images on CD/USB? 

No, digital images may be purchased through our online gallery and ordering system. Eventually, that technology will become obsolete. 

We strongly recommend having multiple back up copies of images to cloud-based servers, and above all; print your images. 

What happens if a re-shoot is requested? 

Rarely, a session just doesn’t go as we had planned. Everyone has a bad day. We have a very strict re-shoot policy. Since we shoot 

digital and you could view your shots as we go, you get a good idea if we are capturing what you need. I always ask my clients be 

upfront and honest with me and I feel as if I create a relaxed enough environment for you to speak up if you feel at any point, we are not 

getting the desired shots. Reshoot of any Photography by Studio Eleven will be available at no cost for technical issues only (including 

but not limited to equipment or lighting malfunctions and sudden inclement weather). Reshoots will NOT be offered for reasons such as 

clients clothing choice, dissatisfaction of makeup/hair, client facial expressions, uncooperative subjects (including babies, toddlers, 

children and pets) or things beyond the photographers control.* 

*In the event you would like to schedule another shoot due to one of the above, Photography by Studio Eleven will re-shoot your session 

at a 25% discount. Excluding Hair & Makeup costs). 

If the client wishes to re-shoot, the following apply: 

• The client must book the reshoot within 14 days of the original shoot date (provided the photographer is available) 

• The previous online gallery will be taken down + no images from the original session will be included or saved. 

• If prints were ordered and/or delivered to the client, a re-shoot is no longer available. The decision to re-shoot must be made AFTER 

review of the client gallery but BEFORE any images have been downloaded or prints have been ordered. 

Any and all session re-shoots are determined at the discretion of the photographer. 

There are no refunds and or exceptions to any of the above listed policies.
