Unlocking Jesus
Spirit had let her know this and she was acting in obedience to
His voice.)
As she touched His clothes, her blood flow dried up and she
felt in her body that she was well. So great was this release and
unlocking of power that Jesus turned around and said, “Who
touched My clothes?” When she told Him the truth, He said,
“Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be
healed of your affliction” Mark 5:25-34.
Jesus equated her purposed and persistent heart with faith.
Truly it was! She had unlocked the power of God.
A Broken Heart
A woman brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil to the
Pharisee’s house where Jesus was dining (Luke 7:36- 50). She
stood behind Him weeping, washing His feet with her tears, and
wiping them with her hair. She then kissed His feet and anointed
them with the fragrant oil.
Inwardly the Pharisee criticized Jesus for not being able to
recognize that she was a sinner. But he could not hide his
thoughts from Jesus! Jesus saw her broken and repentant heart,
and rebuked the Pharisee saying,
“I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My
feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped
them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but
this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I
came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this
woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil”
(vs. 44-45).
Then He said to the woman,
“Your faith has saved you. Go in peace”
(v. 48).
He attributed her broken and contrite heart to faith! Her
brokenness of heart was a more beautiful fragrance than the
fragrant oil! Her heart, full of genuine repentance and pure
