CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
We needed to re-discover the
basics of our faith and restore the
wells our fathers dug for us
David Oginde (PhD.), Rev
Presiding Bishop
Unblocking the Ancient Wells
As we began the last leg of the CITAM ten year
strategic plan (2007-2016), we knew that God had
one last assignment for us: To Unblock the Ancient
Wells. A well in the desert country of Palestine was
a sign of wealth and independence. After Abraham
died, the Philistines, driven by envy, blocked the
wells which had been dug during Abraham’s time.
But Isaac had to unblock his father’s wells, not so
much because he needed water, but because he
needed to restore his father’s heritage. Likewise, in
CITAM we realized that with the passage of time,
there were wells that had been blocked that needed
to be unblocked. We needed to re-discover the
basics of our faith and restore the wells our fathers
dug for us. Thus throughout our ministry, we set
about on the same. We praise God for the many
wells unblocked and dug in 2015.
The Well of Prayer
We began the year with seven days of prayer and
fasting that culminated in the Solemn Assembly. It
was heartening to experience God’s great favor in
response to prayer: diseases were healed; hearts
were mended; courage was restored and hope
renewed. No one but God can do this!
The Well of Discipleship
Our well of discipleship was unblocked as we
witnessed tremendous spiritual growth of our
members through The Safari. We completed the
first stage: Enter and part one of the second stage:
Encounter. Testimonies were shared of how people
experienced God in a new way. The wealth of our
spiritual growth was unblocked. No one but God can
do this!
Unexpected Wells
It came as a surprise to us when the Commissioner
for Domestic Taxes, Ms Alice Owuor, together with
her team visited CITAM in October to recognize
our Church for tax compliance. CITAM was one
of the few medium tax payers selected for these
unique visits by the Kenya Revenue Authority
(KRA), and one of only five personally visited by
the Commissioner. Among the five; CITAM was
the only religious organization nominated. It may
seem a simple gesture, but this was truly a great
honour, not only to CITAM, but also to the many
other Christian and religious organizations that are
equally faithful in giving ‘Caesar what belongs to
Caesar’. No one but God can do this!
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
The Well of Stewardship
God has called us to be good stewards of the
resources he has entrusted us. After reviewing the
Moving the Ark initiative, we felt the need to expand
its perimeters; hence the launch of the Together We
Can Do More (TWM) initiative. TWM is a stewardship
campaign aimed at mobilizing resources to help us
extend our impact by building more sanctuaries;
planting more churches; and supporting the destitute
and the orphaned. Within the months of August –
December 2015, we had set out to raise KES 50
million. But the Lord surprised us and we surpassed
this target by almost 60% to raise KES 85 million in
commitments. Indeed, Together We CAN DO MORE!
And no one but God can do this!
The Well of New Frontiers
Our vision to see Kenya and the rest of the world
impacted by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit was
duly rewarded in 2015.
CITAM Romania
CITAM Assembly was officially launched in Romania
under the leadership of Pastor Walter Openda, after
being granted registration and relevant permits by the
government. The response has been simply amazing.
CITAM USA
CITAM USA transformed from a fellowship to a fullyfledged
CITAM Assembly with Sunday services
running every week!
CITAM Alliance
One of our core values is partnerships. In August,
Talanta Ministries based in Machakos and headed
by Pastors Joseph and Meggy Nzavi became
the first CITAM Alliance Church under the CITAM
Alliance initiative.
CITAM Athi River
We officially launched CITAM Athi River as the 13th
CITAM assembly with Rev. Juliet Mahugu serving
not only as the assembly senior pastor but also
as our first female Senior Pastor. The assembly
is growing fast with close to 1,000 people in
attendance each Sunday.
No one but God can do this!
CITAM Kapsabet
The Kapsabet mission church officially became a
fully fledge CITAM Assembly under the oversight of
CITAM Eldoret. The assembly is growing and we
are in the process of looking for a larger space to
accommodate the growing numbers.
East Timor
In spite of the great challenges believers face in
East Timor, CITAM has continued to spread the
Gospel in this Eastern frontier under the leadership
of Pastor Joseph Ndungu. We thank God for the
grace and strengthen He has granted.
The Well of Academic Excellence
We are committed to training our children in
excellence. We praise God for the upward
growth we continue to experience in our
academies. CITAM Schools – Kisumu and
Woodley registered notable performance with
over 77% of the KCPE candidates scoring
350 marks and above. CITAM Kiserian
Children Centre was likewise not
left behind with a number of its
candidates scoring up to 390
points. No one but God can
do this!
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Casting Our Eyes Ahead
As we enter into a new year of ministry, it is yet
another season for planning. Our current strategic
plan has come to an end; coincidentally when God
has given us the theme “Behold an Open Door” (Rev.
3:8). We believe God has even greater things for this
ministry ahead.
Our next ten year strategic plan (2016-2025) is
themed: Building Capacity for Growth, Impact and
Sustainability. We are trusting God to move CITAM
from the current good to great performance. Thus
our revised vision is to become: A Community of
Believers Impacting the World with the Gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ through the transforming Power
of the Holy Spirit. We have also synergized our core
values to make them more memorable and inspiring:
Excellence in Ministry; Functional Christian Families;
Integrity in operations; and Strategic Partnerships.
The Strategic Plan is focused on ten key pillars
developed with two tenets in mind: impact and
sustainability. An implementation matrix has been
outlined to ensure our ministries remain buoyant and
relevant in changing times. The challenge ahead
demands a focused and systematic approach in
pursuit of CITAM’s strategic goals. Thus the leadership
renews its commitment to prayer as we endeavour to
listen to what the Lord may be saying to us.
Finally
We are ever so grateful to all who work behind the
scene to ensure CITAM is where God wants it to be.
Special thanks to all the Trustees, Elders, Deacons,
Staff, and Ministry Workers for serving the Lord with
singleness of heart; to my wife Nancy for her tireless
support and prayers in this demanding ministry; and
to our members who have remained faithful even in
turbulent times. God has an open door for each one
of you. Even if it seems closed for now, remember
that God never reneges on His Word. Remain faithful
to Him; for He will remain faithful to you!
CHURCH SECRETARY’S REPORT
9
CITAM has an opportunity to pass
on relevant Christian messages to
the Nation through HOPE Media
with the view to strengthen the
Christian witness in the Nation
Nelson Kuria
Church Secretary
Introduction
This report is a review of the year 2015 and the
amazing grace that we as a Church enjoyed as
we unblocked our ancient walls. The report also
highlights certain governance and policy issues.
Deacon Board Meetings
The Deacon Board held seven meetings as scheduled
with an average attendance of 99%. New Deacons
were taken through an orientation program which
was successful. We also initiated The Conclave
which is a fellowship that brings together the Deacon
Board; The Elders Council and the Senior Pastors.
The Conclave was instrumental in the review of the
just concluded Strategic Plan and the development
of the next 10 year Strategic Plan (2016-2025).
The Deacon Board has been seeking to increase
efficiency in terms of reporting through various sub
committees and especially in the area of submitting
briefs/updates. These reports were presented to the
Deacon Board for consideration.
Major Projects Undertaken by The Deacon Board:
The CITAM Strategic Plan
As mentioned earlier, our ten year Strategic Plan has
come to an end. We therefore set up teams to review
and develop the next 10 year Strategic Plan (2016-
2025) under the leadership of Bishop David Oginde
and Deputy Bishop Ken Kimiywe. This new plan
represents new energy, focus and vision injected
in the ministry. The new plan proposes to position
CITAM as the Church for now and in the future and
has taken into cognisance the rapidly changing
landscape and technologies including revamping
ideas that may have stagnated due to the nature of
emerging issues.
CITAM Ngong Construction
We experienced challenges with the construction of
CITAM Ngong that saw us halt this project. However,
through prayer and review, we were able to pick up
this project and I can now confidently report that we
are right on course. We believe we shall enter the
new Sanctuary within the timelines given.
New Church Plants
We officially launched CITAM USA in April 2015
with Pastor Jean Bosco formerly of CITAM
Ngong, serving as the Senior Pastor.
He is being assisted by a consultant
Pastor Rev. Tom Bartlet. We
scouted the land in Namibia and
we can report that the harvest
CITAM Annual Report and Financial Statements | 2015

10
is ripe. We sent over Pastor Paul Njoroge, formerly of
CITAM Thika Road, to its capital, Windhoek. We also
went into Nandi County and opened CITAM Kapsabet;
a church plant of CITAM Eldoret. Our Pastor Aggrey
Omukunga is the team leader there.
Infrastructure Expansion
Due to the rapid growth of our numbers, we
had to do some readjustments in Buruburu and
Woodley where we have temporarily relocated
our congregants from the permanent structures to
modern tents. This is as we seek to accommodate
the exponential growth by restructuring our
permanent structures. Pray with us that the Lord
may superintend this process so that they are
complete within schedule.
Challenges Experienced
As most of you would know one of our national
newspaper run a series of stories that negatively
publicized the church regarding a certain parcel of
land in Karen. Supposedly this affected our sale
of Kajiado land but thank God, a successful open
day was held in the New Year (2016) and there is
optimism that the matter will be behind us. We realize
that CITAM ministry is rapidly growing which means
that there is need to gradually grow our institutional
and organizational structures in tandem.
CITAM Restructuring
In order to provide a more efficient and effective
service to the people of God, CITAM took a deeper
look into its staffing level through Job description and
Work Load Analysis for all employees during the year
under review which resulted in the release of a number
of staff, redeployment of others and outsourcing of
some jobs. This restructuring exercise ended and
all employees affected were offered counselling and
trainings to assist them adjust to their new jobs/
businesses outside CITAM while the remaining
employees are underwent a change management
process. The exercise was difficult but by the grace
of God all went on successfully. CITAM will not only
become efficient but will experience a reduction in
staff cost. I wish to thank most sincerely all CITAM
employees and volunteers for their commitment to
this ministry and urge you all to keep them in prayer.
Looking Ahead
Since we are growing rapidly, there is a definite
need to consider decentralization of certain aspects
of our ministry to fulfil our Vision and Mission. We
must ensure that both the administrative and spiritual
structure work together cohesively yet distinctively; to
enhance transparency and accountability. There is a
necessity to continuously and deliberately disciple our
members through the ‘Safari’ in the wake of Religious
Radicalization, corruption and tribalism besides other
vices facing us as a nation. CITAM has an opportunity
to pass on relevant Christian messages to the Nation
through HOPE Media with the view to strengthen the
Christian witness in the Nation.
Prayer Items
• Wisdom in dealing with the challenges that
are there
• Wisdom in coming up with new structures
i.e. administrative
• Pray that the leadership is visionary and not
just short term perspective. Being visionary
will enable the leadership plan well for
CITAM’s future
• Regulation of the Church and Christian media
in Kenya
CITAM ATHI RIVER REPORT
13
If God be for us, who can be
against us?”
Romans 8:31
Rev. Juliet Mahugu
Senior Pastor
Preamble
2015 has been an exciting year for CITAM Athi
River-a year in which we consolidated the gains we
made in 2014 and broadened our programs and
activities to cater for the needs of our members.
We ministered to an average of 800 people every
Sunday, 450 adults, 300 children and 60 teenagers.
When schools were closed, the number of teenagers
increased to around 120. We received an average of
35 visitors per month, some of whom choose to stay
on. In May the church was officially launched in a
colourful occasion graced by our presiding Bishop,
the deputy Bishop, a vast array of CITAM leaders,
family and friends.
2015 was also a year of growth in our infrastructure:
the Sunday school block and the Ablution block
were completed and commissioned; work on the
Administration block also started. We are eager to
shift our offices from Sidai Village to the new block in
February 2016.
We celebrate our dedicated volunteers who average
around 180. We are thankful to God for the following
achievements:
Children’s Ministry
The average attendance has grown to 300 per Sunday.
We hosted 590 children for DVBS, some came from
two Children’s homes in our neighbourhood and one
group came all the way from Machakos town. 97
children participated in the African Children Prayer
Day where they prayed for families, the Church and
the nations of Africa; 15 of them committed their
lives to Christ. Children ages 10 and above
successfully completed The Enter stage
of The Safari discipleship program.
12 children attended the HOPES
program which we organized in
collaboration with CITAM Karen.
CITAM ATHI RIVER REPORT
Teens Ministry
The “Chosen” church ministers to an average of
60 teenagers every Sunday; this numbers rises to
120 during holidays. They have a suitable carefully
structured discipleship program that is relevant to
their needs. 47 teenagers attended a transformative
camp in December where two of them got saved.
We plan to have a full-fledged Teens/Youth church
in 2016.
Christian Education Department
Our Safari groups increased from 18 to 33 after
the Enter stage of The Safari. The groups meet
consistently for Bible Study and fellowship. Some
have taken the initiative to arrange various outreaches
including visits to the sick, to children’s homes and
community clean ups.
Our first Membership intake was in September. This
was preceded by the baptism of 42 people who were
part of the 84 that were received into membership in
a ceremony graced by one of our CITAM trustees,
Reverend Judy Mbugua.
Prayer Ministry
The prayer team has grown to 15 consistent members
who meet every Saturday and Sunday morning to
pray. They have been actively engaged in the Prayer
meetings and have actively participated in the CITAM
Joint Intercessors meetings. This team mobilized the
Church to do two major activities: the Safari groups
did prayer walks in their neighbourhoods while the
church did prayer drives in Syokimau, Kitengela,
Machakos town and their environs.
Men’s and Women’s Meetings
CITAM Athi River was privileged to host the annual
He’s event in November which brought together
around 1,000 men and some of their sons from the
various CITAM Assemblies for fellowship, mentorship
and “swallowship”. The ladies of the Church have
met every month for ministry and have supported the
Church in various ways especially in beautifying the
Church and supporting the pastors.
Missions and Outreach
The team mobilized the church to do two major door
to door outreaches that culminated in a crusade at
Makadara grounds. 700 people committed their lives
to Christ. During the missions month, propelled by
our theme, “What Would Jesus Do?” we did free
legal camp and two unique outreaches: one to 120
bodaboda riders during which they were trained on
safety and the other one to 80 domestic workers,
complete with hot lunch prepared and served to
them by our ladies. 11 gave their lives to Christ.
CITAM Schools Athi River
The Chinese say that a journey of a thousand miles
begins with one step. Our school opened its gates
in May; so far we have nine lovely children and two
dedicated teachers. We are committed to building a
premier institution by faith.
“If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Romans 8:31 Now to every open door in 2016.
May the name of the Lord be praised!
CITAM BURUBURU REPORT
15
We thank God for the spirit of
servant leadership exemplified by
the Pastoral team and the Advisory
Committee; and not forgetting to
mention the great sense of unity and
support from the church members
Rev. Ken Kimiywe
Deputy Bishop
We are truly grateful to God for the ministry in
CITAM Buruburu this past year. We experienced
both spiritual and numerical growth in all sectors of
the church as we pursued distinction in Christian
life and ministry.
Leadership Transition
At the close of 2014, the Deputy Bishop Rev. Ken
Kimiywe was appointed as the Senior Pastor, while
Rev. Jacob Kimathi was appointed as the Associate
Senior Pastor. We thank God the transition was
smooth and the church took a very short time
to adjust to the changes. At the end of the first
quarter, a number of the pioneer elders finished
their term and a new team was put in place. During
the course of the year our pastoral staff grew when
we received Pst. Evans Agoya (Care & Fellowship);
Pst. Terry Fundi (Children Ministry); Intern Pastor
Evelyn Wairimu; Camp Intern Beryl Wagaa and
Student Pastor Elvans Bwire.
From the Multipurpose Hall to the
Mega Dome
The end of 2014 also witnessed the move from
the space-limiting multipurpose hall to a 2500
seater mega dome. This has brought in many new
congregants. The first service is completely full while
the second service is filling. The youth now have a
better and bigger facility in the multipurpose hall.
The Safari
Both the Safari Enter and the Safari Encounter stages
remains the major highlight of the year so far. The
excitement in the congregation was discernible and
people took charge of their personal discipleship.
About 2,000 people joined the Safari Groups (SGs)
with the formation of 113 new SGs. 7,000 Safari
manuals were sold. Both the youth, and the staff in
the entire campus were involved in this revolutionary
program. During the topic on “Understanding
Salvation” 52 people gave their lives to Jesus and
after teaching the topic on “Understanding the
Church Ordinances” the next Sunday 166 people
were baptized. The Safari Junior involved about
1000 children. As a result of the Safari both the
weekly prayer services and the monthly prayer with
a difference services are teaming with people who
are eager to pray. What is most encouraging is to
find that the majority of these praying people
are young people. Make up Safari cohorts
have also been conducted for those
who missed the congregational
Safari series. During the transition
period between Enter and
Encounter stages, all the SGs
CITAM BURUBURU REPORT
embarked on a study guide, “Keeping in Step with
Christ” to further deepen their roots in discipleship. At
the end of this period, we conducted a membership
drive where 222 new members were received.
The Family (FaCE)
CITAM Buru Buru is truly a family Church. Every
aspect of the family is visible. A couples’ retreat took
place at Sarova Samburu. 41 couples went through
Marital Counselling Class (MCC) culminating into a
grand joint solemnization service on 22nd August.
The Premarital Counseling Class (PMCC) conducted
two sessions and prepared more than 30 couples
for marriage. In June we conducted a successful
family conference with the theme: “Unblocking the
Ancient Wells of Family Life.” Over 40 couples have
joined Married Couples Care Groups (MCCG) this
year alone.
Youth Ministry
Our vibrant Youth ministry includes the teenagers
(Beings in Christ), the Bricks (age 21 to 25 yrs.)
and the Visionaries (age 26 to 35yrs). The first half
highlights include; a Gala Night in February whose
theme emphasized sexual purity. The participants
took chastity vows. In April, during the Youth Initiative
month, the youth were involved in its planning,
moderating and even preaching in all the Sunday
services. Other activities in April included the Teens
Week and Laydback Lounge, a musical concert
where 12 youth received Christ. The Ex-candidates
program (Mentor Me) is ongoing covering several
topics such as Career, Self-image, Salvation, Setting
an example, and Change for the better. The climax
was Ex-cans Camp in June at Crayfish, Naivasha.
Both the teens and the young adults held successful
December camps at the coast.
a successful African Children Prayer Day on the 7th
of November 2015 with 650 children, 70 workers
and 34 churches represented. We had 100 children
who gave their lives to Christ. We thank God for the
harvest. The HOPES camp took place from 16th to
21st Dec. at Clarence Matheny Ministries in Rongai.
We had 61 children and a team of 11 workers. On
Christmas day the children ministry hosted the whole
church to a tantalizing Christmas Cantata.
Care and Fellowship
The men started the year with an excursion on Mt.
Longonot; about 200 men joined other CITAM men
on the climb. When they came back, the men raised
funds and constructed a first time-visitors’ pavilion.
The WM have continued to bring the church women
together for fellowship and encouragement. They
have extended this to the younger women (aged 18-
25yrs.) through the mother-daughter luncheon where
Rev.Judy Mbugua was the guest speaker. This
gathering brought together about 500 participants.
Children during a DVBS session in the Mega Dome
Children’s Ministry
We had a successful DVBS in August. Our theme
was unblocking the ancient wells. Children from
Eastlands came in their numbers. We had a team
of 321 volunteer workers and an average 2500
children in attendance daily. 253 children gave their
lives to Christ during the one week program. We had
Both the men and women ministries have organized
trips to Yatta Agri-business demonstration farm. The
church has faced much bereavement during the
year. The Pastor-in-charge and the visitation team in
collaboration with the SGs have provided tremendous
support and comfort to the hurting families.
Missions and Outreach
Through the program, “Love Eastlands” we have
continued to reach out to the community around
the church by hosting early morning breakfasts
in strategic places in the estates. The zonal Safari
groups raise money for this. This is a tremendous
tool to reach the lost for Christ with the gospel. We
also conducted a Career Day with an attendance of
800 students from 6 high schools. Through “Back
to the roots” initiative we carried out an evangelistic
mission to Kisii County; we also partnered with African
Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) for a great outreach in
Eldoret. In September, a team of about 25 missioners
visited the mission station Maikona in Marsabit.
Challenges
The campus perimeter wall project that had stalled
for many years is now being rebuilt. This had posed a
great security challenge with the broken down walls.
In response to the terrorist threats to churches: a
security barrier has been raised, security guards
have been increased and armed police personnel
engaged in partnership with the Buruburu Police
Station. We hope to reinforce this further by the
installation of a walk-through detector and CCTV
cameras. The other major challenge has been the
playing field that has been in ruins for a long time,
thus depriving the pupils in the Junior School and the
students in the Senior School recreation facilities. This
has resulted in church weddings been conducted
elsewhere, denying the church a lucrative revenue
stream. Recently, our standby power generator set
knocked its engine due to frequent and long period
power interruptions; the damage necessitated
acquisition of a new generator. The children ministry
is in dire need for a new ablution block to cater for
their growing numbers.
Way Forward
As we crossover to 2016, CITAM Buruburu will be
celebrating its 10th anniversary and we looking forward
to hosting the CITAM leadership and family at large to
a grand ceremony on Sunday 27th November. We are
also looking forward to the commencement of building
the 6000 seater Ultra-modern sanctuary in line with MTA
campaign. Due to the expansive growth of residential
settlements in Eastlands, the church is looking forward
to collaborating with the CITAM Missions & Outreach
Department to harness this catchment by planting a
church in the Embakasi/Utawala areas.
CITAM Buruburu foresees a brighter journey to the
end of the year and envisions having a full experience
of being destined for distinction. We thank God for
the spirit of servant leadership exemplified by the
Pastoral team and the Advisory Committee; and not
forgetting to mention the great sense of unity and
support from the church members.
Rev. John Wesley Nguu
Senior Pastor
2015 Theme
Our theme for year 2015 was Unblocking the
Ancient Wells: Becoming like Christ, Proclaiming
Him (Gen 2:18; Col 1:28). In the first half of the year
we majored on Unblocking the Ancient Wells by
becoming more like Christ and in the second half by
Proclaiming Him respectively. As we embraced the
theme we experienced growth at personal, family,
career, assembly and community engagements
levels. We give God all the glory!
Staffing
Pastor Aggrey Omukunga, after successfully
serving as one of the CITAM Eldoret founding
Pastors, was transferred to facilitate the launch
of CITAM Kapsabet as a fully-fledged assembly in
November 2015.
We received two Intern pastors: Serah Kamau and
Sally Too in April 2015. Sister Beatrice Kemei was
appointed as the Customer Relations Officer cum
Secretary in June 2015 and Sister Linder Aluoch was
posted to the Assembly in September as the CAMP
season 5 Intern.
First Anniversary Celebrations &
Membership Intake
It was pomp and colour on 27th September 2015
as we celebrated our 1st Anniversary of God’s
faithfulness as an Assembly and favour after our
official launch on September 28, 2014 that was
presided over by Bishop David Oginde. We also had
the privilege of admitting 300 new members into the
CITAM fold.
Pastor Josephine Nguuh went on a well-deserved
one year Sabbatical leave from November 2015
to October 2016 after a 12 year service as a
CITAM pastor.
Pastor Joel Too was appointed and posted as a full
pastor to CITAM Eldoret from September. Pastor Too
had served on voluntary basis since the inception
of the assembly in 2013 then later served as an
intern pastor in 2014/15 after which he continued to
serve as a voluntary pastor until his appointment as a
CITAM employee on full time basis.
Financial Giving & Infrastructure
Development
The congregation was commended by the Deacon
Board for having doubled the financial giving from
the previous year. And in a bid to be prudent in the
use of our CITAM resources, the Deacon Board
graciously approved the construction of a prefab
office block within our premises where the staff
has now settled down.
Youth Ministry
The High-schoolers (Teens) had weekly meetings
during the second service and the Crossroaders
(Campus) met for fellowship on a monthly basis
every third Sunday of the month. A joint full day hike
for both Teens and Crossroaders to the scenic Kerio
escarpment attracted 30 young people who had
a very memorable day. We hosted the joint CITAM
Western Zone Teens camp from in December 2015
with an attendance of 120 teens. We managed to
send 20 youth to the Teens Connect during the
annual CITAM Convention.
Worship and Prayer
Children’s Ministry
The DVBS 2016 attracted 1840 children and 129
workers. In November the assembly hosted the
Africa Children prayer day in Eldoret with 200 children
in attendance. The HOPES Camp attracted 23
Standard eight graduates who were greatly impacted
and empowered for high school.
The music ministry organized three worship
experiences in the course of the year one of
which was dubbed Shabach that we co-hosted at
International Vision Centre, Eldoret. Timothy Kaberia,
Florence Mureithi and Evelyn Wanjiru were some of
the music artists that ministered in these worship
experiences. We held weekly Wednesday evening
prayer meetings, alternate bimonthly 1st Watch and
Overnight prayer services in which we experienced
great encounters with God.
Fellowship and Care
The Safari groups continued to grow in numbers. We
had 35 groups at the end of the year. In these groups
most of the social, economic and visitation needs of
the members were met.
We faced several bereavements including one of
the key leaders Bro Gordon Achar who passed on
in April and other members who lost close members
of their families. The whole assembly was united in
standing with the bereaved and this brought growth
during the year as the community was attracted by
the spirit of care and concern displayed during those
times of grief.
The Women’s Ministry held monthly
meetings, appreciated the pastors
and sent a delegation of 60
delegates to the one-day CITAM
WM Conference in November. Men’s Ministry
met on a bimonthly basis and started a project to
construct a baptismal pool for the assembly. The
Young Professionals Fellowship met on a monthly
basis, organized a dinner and we witnessed six of
them getting married through beautiful weddings.
The Married Couples Care Groups (MCCG’s) were
launched and by the end of the year ten have been
active. During every 5th Sunday, the Couples and
Mature Singles had their fellowships which were well
attended.
during their National Missions Convention held at
Kapsabet Girls. They hosted 50 students and their
teachers as hey reached out to the neighbourhood.
In July the Assembly was actively involved in the Great
Eldoret Outreach, stratified evangelism collaboration
between the Eldoret Gospel Ministers Fellowship
and the African Evangelistic Enterprise. We hosted
all the 35 international missioners in the congregants’
homes, mobilized 50 members for the outreach
and made financial contribution. The entire mission
brought 2000 new believers to the faith in the city.
Christian Education and
Discipleship
CITAM Eldoret was privileged to run the Safari Enter
stage as had been envisaged through 10 Cohorts
of which 243 graduated thanks to the manageable
numbers and availability of space. We run two other
seasons of the Safari Enter stage with 30 and 15
attendants respectively. The Safari Encounter stage
1 was run during the Sunday services. An evaluation
after the two Safari stages has shown significant
growth in terms of involvement in the Safari groups,
participation in ministries, care for one another and
increase in financial giving.
Evangelism and Missions
The Mission and Outreach team engaged in reaching
out to the schools, colleges and universities through
Sunday Services, Midweek Fellowships, Rallies and
Weekend challenges. In April 2015, the team worked
with the KSCF (Kenya Students Christian Fellowship)
Governance and Social Action
Through the guidance of the Governance and Social
Action team we sought to be the light and salt in the
community through: an organized trade fair, a special
prayer Sunday for the County leadership, a special
Mashujaa day award to retired General Lazarus
Sumbeiyo for exemplary Christian leadership in the
market place and the construction of chain-link fence
and an ablution facility for the Kipkaren Administration
Police camp near the assembly.
Challenges & Way Forward
To facilitate growth and transformation of the
assembly in 2016, there is need to complete the
ablution block, provide facilities and resources for
youth ministry, and also for consideration to put at
least a hall to carry out the assembly’s services as
we await the construction of a permanent sanctuary
in the future.
on behalf of the Deputy Bishop, launched the
transition of CITAM Kapsabet from a mission centre
into a fully-fledged assembly. On this occasion the
founding elders of the congregation handed over
the congregation and all the property to CITAM
through a signed document and hence stood
dissolved as the leadership team. The leadership
of the church was formally handed over to the
Senior Pastor. A leadership team was put in place
and commissioned to run the various ministries
in the ministry. During the same function, Pastor
Alfred Arita and his wife who had served faithfully in
the mission centre for two years up to December
2014 were warmly bid farewell.
Current Church Location and
Facilities
The Assembly premises are located about 500
CITAM KAPSABET REPORT
Children’s Ministry
The children ministry has been operation since
inception of the congregation but did not have
a curriculum. Thankfully by December a new
curriculum was introduced and the children workers
were trained on how to implement it.
Worship and Prayer
The assembly has a vibrant music ministry with
trained leaders and instrumentalists that lead the
congregation in rich worship every Sunday.
Challenges & Way Forward
We have a serious challenge of space for numerical
church growth, children classes, parking and
offices. Many of the believers were untrained and
felt inadequate to do the work of the ministry hence
leaving very few to be involved.
By the end of the year, the congregation was
sensitized on the need of the assembly to go on
intentional discipleship and had already set dates for
the launch of the Safari in the first half of year 2016.
There is need for stratified evangelism to the target
groups of the governance, professionals and
business community.
We are trusting God for at least a 2 acre plot to pitch a
500-seater tent and provide enough parking space.
Rev. Dr. John Karita Mbagara
Senior Pastor
Introduction
To God be the glory great things he has done! In
the year 2015 the church was guided by the theme
‘Reclaiming Our Wells’ which was derived from
Genesis 26:18. God was gracious and allowed us
to experience his favor in many ways and for that we
give thanks.
Discipleship & Worship
We received very good ministry of the word
throughout the year. The teaching of Safari
discipleship program, both Enter and Encounter
stages, for the whole congregation was highly
commended. The series on the Holy Spirit was
refreshing and a number of people spoke in tongues
for the first time. The CDs sales indicated how
well the message was received. The introduction
of Special Sunday Services for Praise, Worship
and Prayer was applauded. We have observed
growth in the numbers making it necessary for us
to extend our parking area in the adjacent piece
of land. The emphasis of prayer as a crucial part
for ministry has been widely accepted resulting
in notable increase of numbers in our midweek
prayer service and other prayer sessions during
the year. We praise God for the many people he
convicted and they gave their lives to Him while
others received healing and testified on the same.
Children’s Ministry
Many children were greatly impacted by the teaching of
encounter session of the Safari discipleship program.
We received testimonies from children who received
Jesus as Lord and savior. Prior to starting the program,
a number of our members donated TV screen to
facilitate the teaching of the children. Another highlight
is our DVBS program that saw over 3300 children in
attendance. This was the highest number recorded
across CITAM. The children came from all walks of
life in our catchment area. The lively worship, the recital
of scripture and the testimonies we received about
children influencing their parents to come to church
made the effort worthwhile. Throughout the year over 60
young people were prepared for transition from Primary
to High school life through the HOPES program that
culminated in a camp which attracted children from other
churches. The ministry continued in the good tradition
of practically teaching children to be mindful of the less
fortunate as they visited and made personal donations
in various children’s home. We continued the Pastoral
Pupil Instruction (PPI) through which we ministered
to children weekly in our neighboring schools.
For our children the year ended on a high
note and their morale boosted when
they recorded a Christmas musical
that was broadcasted in the
national television KBC.
ministry to young married mothers, talks for young
single mums etc. In the year the ministry reached out
with practical helps for missionaries in Archers Post
and East Timor. The ministry is also in the process
of reorganizing the groups for effectiveness and
efficiency. The Single mums and widows reached
out to the windows in Langata Prison.
Men’s Fellowship
Children in action at DVBS
Youth Ministry
We started the year with an innovative three month
program dubbed 3D (determined, dedicated and
disciplined) that emphasizes teachings on spiritual
formation, leadership and social lifeskills for our
ex-candidates. There was a marked growth in
the number of study groups formed among the
Youth as they went through the Safari discipleship
program. This had a further effect of building sense
of community and responsibility for one another.
Our youth have grown in their passion for prayer.
They organized three (3) overnight prayer meetings
in the year which have had an attendance of over
500 youth. Another highlight is our annual Youth
leadership forum which drew over 200 young people
who confessed having been greatly challenged
in the area of leadership. Our youth continued the
good tradition of missions to high schools from which
many students are reported to have been saved.
They also went for a mission to Archers Post in an
effort for exposure in missions among unreached
people groups. 15 young people gave their lives
to Christ during their camp in December. Our
Young Professional fellowship now meets monthly
instead of weekly and has been active in mission
to Kuwinda, an informal settlement area and Karen
C secondary school.
The men’s fellowship started with great numbers
climbing Mount Longonot for prayer. The men had
mentoring session with the young men. They also
organized a special meeting with young men from
single mums which was very well received as it
touched on a real ministry need.
Other Ministries
Every known case that required visitation and or
counseling was attended to promptly. The Golden
Edge Fellowship was re-launched as a Ministry
and it grew in numbers. Missions to Universities,
neighborhood, prison, and children’s homes were
undertaken by various groups. New believers were
followed up and given the basics of the faith. There
were many behind-the-scene works by service
ministries like flower ministry, social committee,
ushers, welcomers, Holy Communion workers,
Sunday school workers, security and various
service providers. Without them many a crisis
would have resulted.
We were grateful for the addition of Pastor Pauline
Nyawira to our pastoral team in October. Thanks are
owed to the workers, staff, pastors and leadership
who worked hard to achieve the above results.
Women’s Ministry
The ministry experienced smooth leadership
transition. Perhaps owing to the creative and
exciting programs that the ministry came up with the
attendance in WM grew significantly. The ministry
had sessions of teaching unmarried girls life skills,
preparing brides to be for married life, special
We did not forget to worship and celebrate God’s goodness
Throughout last year the gospel continued to sound
forth and shape the people of Kajiado. Despite the
poor road infrastructure, sparse populations, long
walking distances for members to the church and
cultural and traditional barriers.
We thank the Lord for His continued strength, grace,
mercy and love upon us as we ministered to Him and
His people under the Church theme: “Drinking from
the source,” (Genesis 26:18).
Missions and Outreach
In March we held three days crusade, Jesus films as
well as one on one outreaches in partnership with
two other churches in two different locations: Birika
and Sholinke. 68 people came to the Lord. We also
organized a medical camp that attracted 504 people
from the community who came for treatment in two
days. We also reached out to 3 schools around
namely: Isinya Moi Girls, Olorien Boys School and
Dawamu Boys School where we did discipleship.
Children’s & Youth Ministry
The children and youth discipleship continued well
throughout the year. During the DVBS on the first
day we registered the highest attendance of 1,200
children ever. The numbers increased up to 1,300
with 65 workers and volunteers who came to help.
Our highlight was on children who missed a snack
in fasting after a lesson on the same and gave after
the teaching on giving. We also had a children’s
prayer day with about 400 children in attendance.
The children ministry culminated with a baptism of 34
children who successfully completed the enter stage
of the Safari discipleship manual.
The youth were actively involved in worship
every third Sunday of the month. They also
organized 3 Keshas and also had an
year. They also organized a career day with 350
students in attendance and about 100 gave their
Worship and Prayer
We thank God for our inspiring worship team that
led us to God’s presence throughout the year. The
songs followed the lessons on the Safari or the topic
of preaching that made the pulpit ministry easier
and harmonized and enhanced the understanding
and response by the members. Many got healed
and delivered during the worship and we give God
all the glory.
CED Ministry
We are grateful for the Safari junior and Safari
This was complemented by the Men and Women of
the church who also visited their own members as
the needs arose. We have heard testimonies of many
that were encouraged and inspired by those visits.
Focusing Ahead
God has already begun to open many doors for
our members even as we embark on the Theme
“Behold an Open Door,” (Rev. 3:8). We anticipate
a year of remarkable blessings and fruitfulness as
we serve our Lord.
Special Thanks
I would like to thank the Pastors the advisory
committee and all the staff and church volunteers for
the contribution each of them made to the success of
the ministry. I am deeply indebted to my wife Eunice
for her unshakable commitment to ministry. To God
be the Glory. Amen!
CITAM KISUMU REPORT
27
I am positive that through the help
of the Holy Spirit and continuing
efforts of stakeholders Kisumu and
the rest of the Western region will
be impacted with the Gospel of
our Lord Jesus Christ through the
transforming power of the Holy Spirit
Rev. Anataka Mugenyi
Senior Pastor
2015 Theme
2015 started with great anticipation and desire for
spiritual, numerical and commitment growth to the
work of ministry. In January we launched our theme
‘’ENGAGE, SOAR AND BLOSSOM’’ drawn from
Isaiah 40: 29-31.The chosen theme had been a great
motivation and propelled the believers to engage in
the things of God, to soar to greater altitude in their
walk with the Lord and to blossom.
Children’s Ministry
Our 2015 vision in Sunday school was: committed
children doing great things and excelling for the Lord
Jesus Christ. We began the year 2015 with 427
children and 45 teachers and we thank God. Children
were ministered to through the programs that CITAM
has put in place. Apart from teaching lessons in
class on Sunday, all the children participated in an
impacting Easter Cantata that we held in April. The
DVBS recorded 1300 children where over 300 ages
10+ gave their lives to Christ Jesus. Africa Children’s
day brought 1465 children out of which 600 got
saved. The Hopes camp that was done in Mudasa
brought together 87 Children. The junior Enter stage
was very successful and 73 children were discipled,
baptized and taken into junior membership.
Youth Ministry
The youth ministry worked well under the following
active constituents: High Schoolers, Ex-cans,
Crossroads, Pacesetters (YP’s)
These groups run the first service and the Teens’
service. They have been ardently involved in the real
life of the church at large.
Their input towards the fulfillment of the church
mission can be accounted for. By the grace of God
their ministry outreach arm has been very actively
involved in high school ministry in collaboration with
the KSCF Kisumu. Moreover, through good will, they
have established CU service ministry at least monthly
to schools such as: Kisumu Girls, Chavakali Boys,
Nyakach Girls and Maseno School. In addition,
with an aim to explore teens’ challenges in the 21st
Century (Generation Y), they hosted a High schools
CU officials and patrons breakfast.
Kisumu Rugby Ministry
2015 was indeed a year of unblocking the
ancient wells. In collaboration with the
CITAM Mission’s department, the
youth ministry began a Rugby club
which was launched in June 26th
by the CEO of Kenya Rugby
Union CITAM Mission’s office.
CITAM KISUMU REPORT
This is a game that most believers would want to
disassociate with terming it secular. Since we had
the talent in church we realized we could nurture and
execute it by reaching out to the unchurched fans
and players of the Rugby game. In conjunction with
the CITAM Urban Missions, we were affiliated in the
15’s Rugby national league since last year October.
This year God opened doors of victory for our team
and we have now played and qualified for the quarter
finals (which begin in March 2016) in Western region
at position 3 with 16 points.
The only challenge we have is the field that needs to
be worked on. In the meantime we are using Kisumu
Polytechnic field.
Hospitality Ministry
The hospitality ministry endeavors to receive, embrace
and refresh the believers and visitors each Sunday.
One outstanding activity is the prayer and fasting that
the team organized and conducted twice this first
half. This was to commit our activities to the Lord.
Moreover, we have been conducting visits among the
members of the ministry to know where they live and
also to embrace, comfort and support the bereaved
among the members. For the first time the ministry
presented a token of appreciation to 45 congregants
who had been with us consistently since their first
time in January 2015 to 12th April 2015. In July 12th,
the ministry conducted a training workshop, whose
objective was to strategize on ensuring our church
visitors belong and join membership.
Safari
The launch of CITAM Safari presented an opportunity
to form six new Safari groups; four in Church, one
in Kibos, and one in Rabuor. These are specifically
formed for church members who cannot make it
to the weekday bible study fellowships. A total of
over 150 people were baptized after the SAFARI
Enter stage. Of the 66 people, 43 were received
into membership.
Women’s Ministry
2015 started on a very high note in line with the year’s
theme “Connecting, soaring and flourishing”. We saw
a great improvement on attendance and participation
of ladies in various activities. Every month had unique
topics. On of a kind was in May where moms, dads
and young adults come together to share in challenges
of raising godly families in this 21st Century.
Women fellowships one with another, had
opportunity to participate in mission work among
other important ministry throughout the year 2015.
We give glory to God.
Men’s Ministry
The men at Kisumu started the year with great dreams
of positively impacting lives through monthly meetings
and special fellowships. The Movie by Myles Munroe
on Men and vision set the stage for men’s need to
lead the family and church with a vision. This first
meeting of the year was well attended with over 70
men praying, watching and reasoning together.
The men have formed accountability teams like
nyumba kumi initiative that facilitates accountability
amongst the members. The men also have Tea
Party fellowships where they visit homes where men
and spouses are not born again with the intention
of socializing and possibly evangelizing. Men carry
tea during such meetings. We strongly believe if men
will take their rightful place in the family, church, and
society we will be able to achieve a lot.
Missions and Outreach
The major activities of the Missions team were
as follows:
I. A-team of four Leaders from Missions visited
Turkana for 4 days Missions exposure trip.
II. By the grace of God we did a powerful revival
meeting in the church and a powerful crusade
in Manyatta that saw more than 100 souls
coming to the Lord.
III. We have ministered in different secondary
schools and universities around the city.
IV. County Government Prayer Breakfast - We
had a Leaders breakfast in April 24th for Top
leadership of Kisumu County with objective of
bringing them together to unblock the Ancient
Wells of development and sensitize them on
their God given responsibility in building a
better Kisumu. Over 150 leaders attended
the function led by Our Bishop Rev. Dr. David
Oginde and The Governor of Kisumu County,
H.E Jack Ranguma.
V. In May-August the Ministry organized for a 5
days revival meeting that was climaxed with a
healing service on Sunday. We have begun
an intentional outreach dubbed “operation
Rudisha sheep Nyumbani” targeting our
members who left the church for some
reasons known to them.
FaCE Ministry
The FaCE ministry has also had a busy calendar
Couples dinner that brought over 40 couples
together at Jumuia, Couples dinner that brought
100 couples .The guest Speaker was Rev Odhoch
from Deliverance church at Jumuia Guest House,
Mother’s day was very successful with the men
buying flowers for the ladies, We have dedicated
around 100 Children thus far this year. Number of
marriages and solemnizations have taken place in
the Assembly, To God be the glory.
Visitation and Care counseling
Every Thursday the visitation team visit homes,
hospitals and business places to encourage
members. The Counselling has held two
workshops that were very successful.
They have also had an outreach
to Awasi girls and other schools
around the city.
CITAM KISUMU REPORT
Pulpit Ministry & Media Ministry
Through the pulpit ministry, the church has touched
many lives with the Word of God and prayer. A
strong altar call and ministration have been tools
in our hands to serve our congregant while the
media has invested in messages that are sent to
our Media house with the intention of reaching
to a greater audience. The team upgraded the
announcements to audio visual to save time and
reduce cost of printing. This great work are done by
the media Team under the HOD media Mr. Lennie
Munambo and Kevin Victor Sound Technician in
consultation with the Pastors and approved by the
Senior Pastor.
Challenges
The following areas need improvement;
• Giving: There is a great challenge in giving to
work of ministry, thus the church is made to
cut down on the operating expenditure.
• Sanctuary completion (infrastructure) - The
sanctuary renovation is yet to be done fully
as the assembly awaits the procurement
process. (Work in progress) Internet low
signal and makes it hard for us to use ERP
and connect with HQ.
• Budget disbursement has not allowed us to
accomplish much
• Numerical growth is wanting.
• The institution of marriage and family continue
to be under threat with dysfunctional families
such as homosexuality on the increase. Face
ministry to be reinforced and be given green
light to address issues affecting the Institution
of marriage.
Way Forward
‘’He who began a good work in us is well able to
bring it to completion.” Phil 1:6
I am positive that through the help of the Holy Spirit
and continuing efforts of stakeholders Kisumu and
the rest of the Western region will be impacted with
the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through the
transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
As Kisumu Assembly we fully embrace the new
Theme for the year 2016 ’Behold An Open Door’.
We look forward to greater doors of Ministry as the
Lord leads.
As the senior pastor, I wish to thank my dear wife,
Lucy Mugenyi for her continued support, prayers and
dedication to the ministry. Secondly I thank God for a
strong and dedicated Pastoral Team with whom we
worked harmoniously throughout the year, My sincere
appreciation to the Advisory Team, ministry leaders,
support staff, ministry workers and all partners for their
continuing support. Again my sincere appreciation to
our lovely and vibrant congregation of CITAM Kisumu.
To the Almighty God be the glory.
CITAM NAKURU REPORT
31
It was a year of being equipped by
the Word in order to be empowered
by the Spirit
Rev. Anthony Makena
Senior Pastor
Preamble
We began the year 2015 with a very clear conviction
from the Lord, that there was a need to deepen
our faith, solidify our confidence and embolden our
understanding of His ways. The platform for this
to happen was by giving attention to the Word, so
that the Holy Spirit could work with that Word. We
therefore embarked in digging the ancient wells of
the Word. We witnessed amazing growth in spiritual
deepening; a move of God by His Spirit and a great
appreciation of His ways which often times are
significantly different from ours. To Him therefore
be the glory, for indeed it was His doing which was
marvelous in our sight.
As we began the year, we prayerfully believed God to
help us establish the following:
• An early Sunday morning Intercessory prayer
hour.
• A mid – week prayer service.
• A first watch every end of the quarter.
• Establish the FaCE ministry.
• Establish a counseling ministry.
• Re – launch the men ministry.
• Revamp the Youth ministry.
• Increase the enrolment in the academy.
• A worship experience once at the end of
every quarter.
By His grace the Lord made possible and for which
we are truly grateful, and do express our appreciation
to everyone who either prayed or was a participant to
make it happen.
Children’s & Youth Ministry
The children ministry continued to reach out to 5
public primary schools through the P.P.I program
and did well during the DVBS. We participated in the
children’s prayer day and various training sessions
were conducted to equip the teachers and the
children church workers. The Junior Safari was a
great success and significant growth was registered
in the ministry.
The HOPES program which graduates from children
ministry to the Youth ministry had 16 students who
were received by the by the youth pastor and the
HOD of the ministry.
For the Youth, we had a one week convention
dubbed “CITAM Nakuru Youth Power Convention
held between the 13th to the 19th April. It culminated
with the re-launch of the youth ministry and the first
youth emphasis service on the Sunday 19th April
2015, 8.00am to 10.00am This service
has continued to be a great inspiration
to the youth and young at heart, and
especially the Youth Konnect which
takes place between 10.30 am to
12.30 pm. This is a discipleship
program that is aimed at
equipping the youth with the
32
word and empowering them for ministry. We are
glad to have had the high school ex-candidates
program that helped us shape leadership character
in the youths.
The youth also managed to send a team for the joint
Western Region week of Convention in Eldoret at
Kipchoge Keino High School. A combined total of
130 from the three assemblies i.e. Nakuru, Kisumu
and Eldoret were in attendance and the outcomes
were and are still amazing us.
CED
The Safari remained our flagship, being the vehicle
for spiritual growth and discipleship. The leaders
comprising of the advisory, HOD’s and GT leaders were
trained before the roll out of the journey and the impact
is still being felt in the church. The Enter stage was an
eye opener to the basics which are frequently assumed
and Encounter was the beginning of the deepening of
our faith and relationship with the Lord and with each
other. We look forward to the other stages.
Missions & Outreach
The missions and outreach team were able to hold
successful high school ministry training. There
were 30 workers and were fully equipped and
empowered. This team was able to minister to
various schools around Nakuru and many lives of
teens were transformed.
The team was also able to hold an intentional
Prison ministry training. The people were equipped
and empowered to reach out to the prisoners in
confidence and power through sharing of the Gospel
of our Lord Jesus and showing them brotherly love.
There outreaches had remarkable results as the
Lord used the team to bring healing and restoration
to the prisoners. One of the wonderful works the
Lord did through them was to help re-unite one of
the prisoners from Nakuru prisons to his Community
during the month of December. He was taken
upcountry by a team of 14 missioners and was not
only reunited back to his family and community, but
was also established with an income generating
activity to help him start up financially. This was a
blessing for the Lord restored their relationship and
he was fully accepted.
Counseling Ministry
The counseling ministry was launched in the month
of May where 80 workers were taken through a
thorough training on counseling skills. This team
has continued to grow and be active in the church
ministry. We were able to establish a schedule during
the week enabling counselors to be available during
each day of the week. Out of the initial training, 7 of
our members are going through a two year diploma
in Counseling Psychology.
CITAM Nakuru Academy
The school has continued to grow steadily. We
managed to get to 57 students by the close of the
year. We also managed to get an extra teacher
engaged on a fulltime basis, a volunteer and a
trainee on teaching practice. We avail every term two
Sundays for the school to present either a song or a
poem from the pulpit and this has attracted a lot of
attention from the congregants. We hope to surpass
the 90 student mark in 2016.
Women’s Ministry
The women ministry enjoyed a very exciting season of
great pulpit ministry, trainings and joint activities. One of
the highlights was the joint CITAM women ministry in
Valley road in the month of Nov where they did a poem
whose reception was a thunderous applause. We had
change of guard in the leadership and the structuring of
the ministry. To the Lord be the glory.
The Feather in the Cap
Close to the end of the year, we joyfully received
our Deputy Senior Pastor, Rev. Geoffrey Ongondo
and his wife Pst. Jane W. Otieno together with their
children, as the children pastor. Earlier on in the
month of April, we had received Pst. Grace Waceke
as the youth pastor and Bro. Jotham Kamau as the
Intern Admin assistant. All of these lovely people
have spiced the ministry and made it a joy to serve
with. We treasure their invaluable support.
Looking Ahead
• Increase the enrolment into the academy.
• Continue growing the church on the path of
Spiritual Maturity.
• Increase the participation in the Safari groups
by 50%.
• Start a miracle service at least once a month
on a Friday morning for starters from the
month of April 2016.
We believe it will happen, because the Lord has
placed before us an Open Door, Rev 3: 8
CITAM NGONG REPORT
33
Our desire in 2016 is to increase
and intensify our outreach efforts
with the aim of winning our
catchment area for Jesus
Rev. Jesse Mwai
Senior Pastor
Preamble
Our 2015 theme at CITAM Ngong was “Unblocking
the Ancient wells”. It was an exciting year as we
pursued this theme together as a congregation. We
experienced tremendous growth in all aspects and
we are grateful to God for his blessings on us.
Our numerical growth in 2015 was unprecedented in
all the years the church has been in existence. We
had two membership intakes and for the first time,
we had more than one hundred people coming into
membership. As a result of the numerical growth,
parking has become quite a challenge for us and the
church facilities are greatly stretched. We cannot wait
for the sanctuary to be completed.
Our income also increased exponentially during the
year and we saw great liberality among our members.
We received into our pastoral team, Rev. Michael
Wambua who joined us as the Deputy senior pastor.
Our children’s pastor, Rev. Judy Anabwani went
through health challenges that saw her go to India
for surgery and we thank God that He has continued
healing her.
Our building project faced some challenges but we are
still hopeful that the sanctuary will be completed soon.
Our desire in 2016 is to increase and intensify
our outreach efforts with the aim of winning our
catchment area for Jesus.
Highlights in Summary
• In our records, approximately 336
people visited our church for
the first time in 2015.
of Congo and 10 people from different churches in
Lodwar who went back to implement.
Our children’s prayer day brought together 850
children. Four children’s centers and 16 churches
were represented. Two hundred and seventeen
huge percentage of them participated in the Lord’s
Table while 25 of them were baptized.
Youth Ministry
We held 36 services in eight High schools in Ngong
and 120 students received Christ. We were able
to establish stable Christian Union (CU) structures
in 3 schools namely; Dawamu School, Serare
School and Brookhurst International. We had a High
Schoolers Camp in December 2015 at Brookhurst
School whereby we discipled and mentored
students. Safari Enter and Encounter 1 among the
teens and Crossroads fellowship brought together
CITAM PARKLANDS REPORT
35
It was a wake up call to all believers,
both young and old to arise to their
God given destinies
Rev. Stanley Mung’athia
Senior Pastor
Preamble
At CITAM Parklands, the year 2015 was a year of
revival and restoration. We experienced great revival
among the children, youth and adults. There were
testimonies of healing and deliverance among the
congregation. We attribute this to God.
Our theme for 2015 was dubbed “Awake, Arise and
Walk in the Footsteps of Jesus” (Isa.52:1-15). It was
a wakeup call to all believers, both young and old to
arise to their God given destinies.
Transitions
The year witnessed some staff transitions with Pastor
Stephen Makau moving to CITAM Valley Road and
Pastor Nigel De Mello joining the pastoral team from
Marsabit, where he was serving as a missionary
pastor; now serving as the youth pastor at CITAM
Parklands. The transition was quite smooth. We
thank God.
Worship and Prayer
The worship and prayer ministry has continued
to grow, both spiritually and numerically. Sunday
worship services have continued to experience
dynamism in praise and worship. There were
focused trainings and rehearsals among the
singers to boost their music.
Prayer ministry has continued to develop with
consistent weekly and monthly prayer meetings (All
Night/Kesha).The numerical growth for the attendees
has continued to increase both on Tuesday prayer
meetings and in the All-Night/Kesha.
Children Ministry
At CITAM Parklands, children ministry 2015 was
a year full of God’s marvelous doings. Both the
children workers and the children grew in numbers
and in depth in their walk with the Lord. Currently
we have over 300 children attending church every
week. Total commitment by the children workers was
experienced consistently.
The safari junior was a major highlight especially to the
children and teachers who are in 10+years classes.
It was a journey that indeed brought impartation not
only to the children but even the workers.
We enjoyed Gods favor in children’s ministry
especially during DVBS where children and workers
came in large numbers. We had over 1000
children who attended the DVBS.We also
moved a milestone by hosting Africa
Children’s Prayer Day where Children
from the Parklands community
attended the prayers.
CITAM PARKLANDS REPORT
We are looking forward to 2016 with great anticipation
of the Lord’s move and open doors in all areas of our
lives as children ministry.
At Parklands Children ministry, its children transformed
to transform the society!
Youth Ministry
A single word to describe young people in Parklands
in the year 2015 is growth. It was both numerical
and spiritual growth. This was brought about by
the introduction of the Safari. There was dynamic
teaching of the Enter and Encounter One stages. The
spiritual growth was further enhanced by formation of
small groups among all the young people.
The teen’s church met every Sunday with
inspirational teachers, who addressed various
emerging contemporary issues affecting our young
people. High scholars and university students
were also not left behind in their spiritual growth.
There was a great blending of the age groups
that brought spiritual growth. Mentorship was also
inculcated by experienced youth adults’ workers.
Over 100 young people gathered for worship every
Sunday with over 250 attending Sunday services
during the school holidays. The year culminated
with a fruitful youth camp in Malindi with over 70
young people attending.
Men’s and Women’s Ministries
At Parklands, the core business for every person/
department is to reach out to the Asian community.
During the year, men organized a very successful
outreach to the Asian business men and women by
hosting them for a dinner. About 80 Asian business
men and women attended the dinner. Men also
continued to strengthen their relationships/bonds
by attending for their monthly fellowship. Women
ministry experienced an incredible growth from less
than 50 women attending their monthly fellowship to
over 80 women. Various themes were addressed
both by internal and external speakers. As a way to
reach out to the Asian women, the WM organized a
cookery class that attracted over 15 Asian women.
This year our ladies intend to start English classes for
the Asian ladies as a tool for evangelism.
Asian Ministry
CITAM Parklands’ dream is to reach out to the
Asian community with the gospel of the Lord Jesus
(Indians, Chinese, Koreans, and Pakistan)
Our outreach motto is dubbed “Friends of Asia”. Our
mission is To Disciple every Believer for Ministry with
emphasis on Asian Outreach. During the year, we
created a Missions and Outreach Team (MOT) whose
core mandate is to spearhead the outreach activities
in the Assembly. It comprises of representatives from
Children, Youth, Men, Women Ministries and some
members of the Advisory committee.
Some of the major highlights of the Asian outreach
include two Asian estate Sanghats (Fellowships)
which attracted over 200 Asians. These events
boosted the growth of the small groups among the
Asian community. In 2015, we baptized one Asian
lady and around 7 Asians got enrolled as new
registered church members. The number of the Asian
families attending our Sunday services on a weekly
basis has grown from 25 to 30 families. During the
Annual Asian Christmas dinner held in December
2015, we had 450 Asians in attendance with Bishop
Dr. David Oginde as the keynote speaker. In total, we
had over 700 Asians who got to hear the gospel of
the Lord Jesus. To God be the glory.
Fellowship and Care
Among the married people, the Family Care and
Enrichment Ministry (FaCE) held a couple’s dinner that
attracted over 100 people. Young couples fellowship
also took place where young couples married 5 years
and below shared various successes and challenges
in their married life. We conducted two pre-marital
classes in the year. For the single parents, not much
was done to enhance the fellowship among them
which would address the realities and challenges of
single parenting.
Visitation and counselling ministry among the needy
people was experienced both in hospitals, burials and
in other areas. Those that went through challenges
and suffering were ministered to by the pastoral
team, leaders and workers in the two departments.
Christian Education
Safari, the Pathway to our Spiritual Growth and
Transformation was the highlight of the year.
Spirituality among the children, youth and the
adults went a notch higher. Discipleship was the
talk of the day across all the age groups. Small
groups grew from 25 to 40 within one year. The
new believers were discipled. Transformation
among the congregants was evident through
people’s devotion to God and character. Safari is
the way to go in CITAM!
Looking Ahead 2016
Our theme for 2016 is dubbed “Behold An Open
Door (Rev.3:8). As we focus on this theme, we are
trusting God for a mighty breakthrough in Asian
Outreach. As CITAM Parklands, we believe the door
for Asian outreach is wide open! We also believe
the door to disciple the children, youth and adults in
Parklands community is wide open!
Continually, as an assembly we are deeply indebted
to God and to CITAM family fraternity for the
superb sanctuary erected in Parklands community
through your giving. The Sanctuary has become
like an evangelistic tool to the Asian Community in
Parklands. Glory to God!
I would like to thank the Pastoral team, Staff,
Leadership, Ministry workers and the CITAM
Parklands congregation for their commitment and
sacrifice in ministry throughout the year.
Finally, special thanks to my dear wife Florence and
our two children for their continued prayers,
sacrifice and dedicated support in ministry.
To God be the glory forever and
ever Amen.
CITAM ROMANIA REPORT
...we feel very confident that
God will see us through
Rev. Walter Openda
Missionary Pastor
ministry here, we have seen a transformation in the
lives of many.
We still have a few challenges to overcome
amongst them finding a suitable location for our
worship services and building a strong team
that will catch the vision and drive the ministry
to the next level. We still have so much ground
to cover yet we feel very confident that God will
see us through.
2015 was a special year for CITAM Romania.
The year began on a high note when we received
our registration certificate from the Romanian
authorities in January. Soon after, we embarked on
implementing our church planting strategy. At this
point we were a small group of 14, eight adults,
two teenagers, and four children. After a period
of prayer and trusting God, we acquired a rental
place as a venue to plant the church. By God’s
Grace on 11th October 2015 we launched our
Sunday Services at a colorful ceremony with about
140 people in attendance. It was a blessing to
have eleven Pastors from different churches and
denominations come to support and stand with
us. Following the successful launch, we now have
regular Sunday services where our attendance has
grown from the initial number of 14 to an average
attendance of sixty four people every week, fifty
adults and fourteen children. Since we began our
CITAM THIKA ROAD REPORT
39
Our desire was to Remember,
Reignite and Recommit ourselves
as believers to the foundational
things that make for a vital and
vibrant relationship with the one and
only true God through Jesus Christ
Rev. Ken Isige
Senior Pastor
Preamble
Our 2015 theme was ‘Back to the Basics’ derived
from Revelation 3:3a NLT: “Go back to what you
heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly.” Our desire
was to Remember, Reignite and Recommit ourselves
as believers to the foundational things that make for
a vital and vibrant relationship with the one and only
true God through Jesus Christ. We thank the Lord
for enabling us to realize this theme in various ways.
The Safari
We launched The Safari in March and by the
Grace of God we guided over five hundred (500)
members through the first stage ENTER via four
cohorts. In June, we launched the Safari at the
congregational level as well as The Safari Junior for
the Sunday School Children. In October again as a
congregation, we embarked on the second stage
of the Safari ENCOUNTER , and successfully
completed it in late November.
The topics in the ENTER Stage captured the heart
of our theme ‘Back to the Basics’ as we considered
the foundations of our faith such as Salvation,
Prayer, Hearing God’s Voice, Studying the Word and
understanding the ordinances of Water Baptism and
Holy Communion. The ENCOUNTER I Stage also
fitted well with our theme, and built upon the ENTER
Stage as we walked the journey of learning about
the person and nature of God, and pursuing a daily
encounter with Him. We also considered the topics
of Praise & Worship, Stewardship and Giving.
Stewardship & Giving
During the course of the year, we noted a record
number of congregants giving themselves, their
service, and substance to God as acts of praise
and worship to Him. We baptized over two hundred
and twenty (220) and received approximately two
hundred (200) into Church membership. During the
first quarter of the year we held a Ministry Fair during
which we registered over one thousand (1,000)
congregants into various service and fellowship
ministries. At the end of the year, our list of Active
Ministry Workers stood at seven hundred (700). We
continually give thanks and glorify the Lord for these
faithful soldiers who have given themselves for the
work of the ministry.
Members also gave sacrificially both financially
and in kind. The Assembly Men of Impact
(i.e. Men’s Fellowship) helped us
address the parking challenges
that we were experiencing by
reclaiming areas adjacent to
the Church Sanctuary that were prone to flooding.
They also cleared and re-excavated sections of the
drainages to ensure easy flow of storm water, then
laid culverts over the open trenches. This helped
create about two hundred (200) additional parking
bays - we can now accommodate up to five hundred
(500) vehicles within the facility at a time.
Fellowship & Mentorship
The Men, Women and Youth Fellowships experienced
good growth during the year; the respective first
fellowships of the year were well attended, leading to
a number of new attendees during the year. Both the
Men and Women fellowships held one separate and
one joint mentorship sessions with the youth.
Missions & Outreach
A team of over seventy (70) members are actively
involved in our Outreaches to Primary (PPI) and
Secondary Schools. Currently, we are reaching
out to over twenty five (25) Primary and Secondary
Schools regularly.
In April, a total of over sixty missioners including
medics from our Assembly participated in a mission
to Chuka in partnership with: Kirieni PCEA Church
as the main host church, the County Government
Medical Staff, and the ‘Beyond Zero” Campaign -
who assisted in the ‘one day’ Medical Camp. A total
of about 450 people gave their lives to the Lord.
In December, a team of 60 missioners from the
Crossroads Fellowship (i.e. the University & College
Students Fellowship) went for a Youth Camp/Mission
at the CITAM Archers Post Mission Station. Some
of the activities carried out with the local people
during this mission include: [i] Manyatta-to-Manyatta
Evangelism; [ii] Christmas Cantata [iii] Worship
Experience [iv] Showing the Passion of the Christ
(with translation into Swahili). About 300 people from
the local community were reached with 30 giving
their life to Christ. During the Mission, various in-reach
programs were conducted towards discipling and
building up the Crossroaders in the faith, obedience
and love for Jesus Christ. Great testimonies arose
from this mission, many of which were shared in the
Assembly and on Social Media.
Prayer & Bible Study
We began the year with a time of prayer and fasting
and joined the rest of the CITAM fraternity during
other such set times. During the first half of the year,
we held a three day prayer and fasting retreat. 38
intercessors were in attendance. In the month of April,
we also had three days of congregational prayer and
fasting that was concluded with altar ministry and a
Holy Spirit emphasis series - a number of people
were baptized by the Holy Spirit for the first time and
many experienced deliverance from oppression.
From the onset of the year, we set out to enhancing
the spiritual discipline of prayer, targeting 20% of
our adult congregants attending various prayer
fellowships which include [i] Sunday Morning
Power Encounter Prayers; [ii] Sunday & Tuesday
Intercessors Prayer Fellowships; [iii] Wednesday
Prayer Service [iv] Friday end month First Watch
Service; [v] Ministry Workers Prayer Gatherings; [vi]
GT / Safari Group Prayer Gatherings – which grew
from about fifty (50) to seventy (70) active groups.
[vii] CITAM Joint Prayer Fellowships – where a team
of approximately thirty (30) consistently engage in the
prayers. Our considered estimate of the number of
congregants who connect in prayer through these
various fellowships and gatherings is approximately
one thousand (1,000) people.
Children’s Ministry
The number of Children attending every Sunday
swelled to the point where they can no longer be
contained in the classrooms assigned to them;
we have a ‘good problem’ on our hands that we
are seeking to resolve! Over one thousand (1,000)
children regularly attending our Sunday School.
During the Daily Vacation Bible School held in mid-
August, we hosted about 1,700 children. During
the Children Prayer Day held in the first week of
November, we hosted about three hundred (300)
children from our Assembly, and an approximate one
hundred (100) from the neighborhood – a total of one
hundred (100) children gave their lives to Christ. We
also hosted and graduated seventy (70) children who
went through the Highlights of Passage Experiences
program (HOPES). Fourteen (14) of these children
are from the Ngomongo Informal Settlement that is
within our neighborhood – who we sponsored these
children through the program.
Challenges
We continue to experience challenges related to
our facilities in two (2) ways. Firstly, our numbers
far outstretch our capacity as evidenced by three
(3) overflow tents during the Sunday Second
Worship Service, and very large numbers in many
Sunday school classes but no additional rooms.
Secondly, our Church offices remain removed
from the Church Sanctuary, which has the effect of
disconnecting the congregation from their Pastors
during working week days.
Conclusion
By the grace of God we continued to experience
growth in various ways including receiving 15 – 20
visitors every Sunday. Of these visitors, over five
hundred (500) people joined the Assembly during
the course of the year.
We bless the Lord all that He has done and for
every volunteer minister in the various ministries
within the Assembly.
CITAM USA REPORT
Rev. Dr. Tom Bartlett
Church Planter
Rev. Jean Bosco
Missionary Pastor
It’s almost one year since CITAM USA started regular
Sunday services.
The move to start a CITAM Assembly in the USA
is God ordained and it is bearing fruit. Under the
leadership of Pastor Jean Bosco (KENYA) and
Tom Bartlett (USA) the church is experiencing both
numerical and financial growth as we trust God to
attract people from all race and tribe to worship
our God.
A number of ministries are running very well such as
children, youth, visitation, prayer, Safari groups and
music among others.
We are also carrying out our fundamental doctrinal
practices as CITAM Assembly; we share in the Holy
Communion, we do baby dedication and baptizing
those who are born again by immersion.
It is important to mention that CITAM USA is
strategically positioned to impact the rest of
the world.
Finally, I thank God for our visionary CITAM church
leadership that saw USA as an opportunity to spread
the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ in these
last days.
CITAM VALLEY ROAD REPORT
43
We explored areas in which we
believed the Lord was leading us
to unblock in the personal lives, as
well as a corporate body
Rev. Jotham Munene
Associate Senior Pastor
2015 Annual Theme
Our annual theme was “Unblocking the ancient
wells”, taken from Genesis 26:18:
“Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the
time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had
stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them
the same names his father had given them.”
Bishop David Oginde, the Senior Pastor, began the
pulpit ministry with an exposition of the year’s theme.
Thereafter, we explored areas in which we believed
the Lord was leading us to unblock in the personal
lives, as well as a corporate body. These included
Worship, Devotion, Obedience, Holiness and family
values. It is worthwhile to note that our young people
preached very uplifting and challenging sermons on
these subjects in the main church.
Safari
2015 was the year that saw the much anticipated
Safari program finally kick-off. This served also to
unblock several things in the area of discipleship.
Several basic topics were handled through the
Safari’s Enter and Encounter 1 stages. The Lord led
the pastoral team in a new direction as we began
the Safari lessons in church. The service was
programmed in such a way that one hour and 15
mins were dedicated to teaching and discussing
the lesson. The congregation appreciated the
participatory mode of delivery. Not only were there
discussions among neighbours in the congregation,
but opportunity was repeatedly given to members to
contribute ideas during the teachings. Indeed the
Safari was a highlight in 2015 as we unblocked the
ancient wells.
Worship and Prayer
It is worth highlighting the tremendous breakthroughs
we saw in the area of Worship and Prayer. For the
last few years, we have seen growth in the quality
of worship led by our music team. But it was in
2015 that heaven seemed to open wide for the
congregation at Valley Road in the area of worship.
The choice of songs, the joy, and the anointing of
the Holy Spirit are undeniable marks upon our team.
The congregation these days anticipates moments
of heartfelt worship that surely leads us to the inner
sanctums of God’s presence. The same spirit is
replicated in our Tuesday prayer meetings which
were restructured to allow much more time
for worship and prayer. Preaching was
discontinued to allow more time to
praise, worship and pray. This
format has also been adopted in
the overnight prayer meetings
(keshas). We have received
CITAM Annual Report and Financial Statements | 2015

CITAM VALLEY ROAD REPORT
numerous testimonies of God’s hand in the lives of
the members. Many have testified that indeed God
has unblocked several wells in 2015. To God be
the glory!
South Africa (Dr. W Mashua) both working with the
Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM). The
conference was fairly well attended, but had good
reception, so we plan to conduct another in 2016.
Pastoral Changes
In the year 2015, we bid farewell to two pastors
who went on transfer. These are Pastor Gatheca
Ngamate and Pastor Ken Thiongo. Pastor Gatheca
was transferred to CITAM Woodley while Pastor
Thiongo went to CITAM Thika Road on promotion to
serve as the Deputy Senior Pastor.
In return we received several new pastors. These
include Pastor Steve Makau, Pastor James Munyiri,
Pastor Angeline Yegon and Pastor Steve James
Owaga. We also received two young people:
Vincent Kabaale – CAMP Intern and George Ndungu
– Student Pastor.
Saturday PM
Conducted regular Bible Expositions throughout the
year, the Bible books we covered and completed
were Genesis and Matthew. We began the Gospel
of Mark in the 4th quarter of 2015 and continue to the
present day. We have witnessed great growth and
increase in attendance throughout the year, currently
an average of 400 young adults attend Saturday PM
regularly, some with toddlers which has prompted us
to consider the implications of a concurrent class for
children or even a crèche.
In August 2015 we hosted the very first Apologetics
Conference at CITAM Valley Road, Bishop Oginde
was keynote speaker and special guest speakers
joined us from the US (Dr. John Njoroge) and
Golden Edge Ministry
Valley Road Golden Edge ministry conducted
monthly meeting including a joint fellowship with
their counterparts from CITAM Assemblies in Nairobi
under the oversight of Rev Joseph Chengo. It was
during the joint fellowship that we launched a GEM
vision document which highlights the purpose and
objectives of the ministry going forward. We plan
to initiate a Mentorship Program through the ministry
this year, working with our young professionals and
University students’ ministries.
Children’s Ministry
One of the highlights for the children ministry in 2015
was the HOPES camp. This took place in the CITAM
Children’s Centre in Kiserian. We recorded a high
turnover – 1836 children attended. The workers
numbered 325.
In all, the year was a great blessing to the children.
We were able to start the Safari – Enter Stage. We
are grateful to the Men Ministry that contributed to the
purchase of digital screens that have made classes
more fun.
Conclusion
What a Year this was. The ancient wells are
unblocked. The people of God continue to drink
from wells of fresh water in 2016. To God be
the glory!
The entrance of the word to
the school has transformed
the pupils. The teachers have
reported improved discipline and
better performance
Rev. Charles Obara
Senior Pastor
Preamble
Under the theme Living worth the call in my generation
drawn from Eph 4:1, the church experienced a great
move of God. We began the year with a series on the
Blessed Holy Spirit. Many people experienced the
infilling of the Holy Spirit while others were refreshed.
This was followed by another series on the power
of the cross. We also launched the safari, Enter and
Encounter 1 stages. We also had a great series on end
times. Through the pulpit ministry alone 150 people
came to know Jesus as personal Lord and savior.
The congregation experienced tremendous growth
in terms of income evidenced by a 21% increase.
We continue to experience strain on all our facilities
occasioned by growth in numbers. The youth and
children ministry received a major boost with the
arrival of Pastor George Murichu and John Gatheca
respectively. Pastor Evans Agoya was transferred to
CITAM BuruBuru.
Children’s Ministry
The ministry held DVBS in august 2015 whereby
about 2500 children attending daily. The theme was
unblocking the ancient wells. Many children made
a commitment to follow Jesus. On 7th November
we had a successful prayer day whereby over 400
children gathered to pray for the move of God in our
families, peace and prosperity of our country, God’s
blessings over His Church and peace of Africa and
world. The HOPES camp which is aimed at equipping
preteens with life skills to navigate through teenage
hood was held later in the month. 110 teenagers
graduate to the teen’s church. In partnership with the
mission department, the children ministry conducted a
Christmas outreach at Nakumatt prestige. The children
ministered through Christmas play, memory work,
songs and the word. Several children came to the Lord
Finally the children ministered in the Citizen TV, Rauka
show through songs, memory verses and Bible stories.
Throughout 2015 we were able to minister to over
6,000 children on a weekly basis. Through this open
door, we were able to minister to children who go
to schools but do not go to church on Sundays.
It’s also a wide open door to reach out to Muslims
children. The entrance of the word to the school has
transformed the pupils. The teachers have reported
improved discipline and better performance.
Youth ministry
The young people experience growth
in depth. In April during the young
people ministered powerfully while
in November, the Teens Church
received 90 pre-teens from
the Children’s Ministry who
concluded the HOPES
programme and are integrating into the life of the
church. December was a month of highlights,
foremost being the joint Teens Camp between
CITAM Woodley and CITAM Ngong at Brookhurst
International School. The theme was “TBT: Taking
Back our Territory” drawn from the book of Joel 2:25
and Matthew 11:12. It was a time of fruitful ministry.
The Teens and D-Timers (young adults) successfully
completed Safari Encounter I and continue on the
journey of discipleship. The Ex-candidates 2016
dubbed “Game Changers” commenced on a high
note with 50 young people in attendance.
The Young Professionals crowned the year with
a time of fellowship, retreat and ministry in Dares
Salaam with 44 YPs. This was a celebration of the
fruitful time of ministry in 2015 through missions and
outreaches within Nairobi and beyond.
Mission and Outreach
The outreach team conducted various evangelistic
outreaches within our catchment area whereby
a total of 167 people give their lives to Jesus.
Outreaches outside Nairobi County took place on
various locations as follows:
1. Lusengeli in April with 363 giving their lives to
Christ;
2. Kargi in May with 50 giving their lives to Christ;
3. Kitale in December with 108 giving their lives
to Christ;
4. Banyore in December with 18 giving their lives
to Christ.
In July, the team was involved in major outreach
organized by African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) in
Eldoret where 8,672 gave their lives to Christ. They
ministered to five schools within the catchment areas
and witnessed 192 students give their lives to Christ.
In summary, during the year 2015, about 9,466 have
been won to the Lord.
Visitation Ministry
The team was involved in 26 burials within and
without Nairobi County out of which 19 souls have
come to know the Lord. The team also visited more
than 100 sick people both in hospitals and at their
homes. During the time of celebration, the team has
been with at least 30 members of the church as they
express their thanks to the Lord. A total of 90 people
came to personal faith in Jesus.
CED
We successfully launched and completed the
Safari both Enter stage and Encounter 1 stage
initially in cohorts and later at congregational level.
The program was enthusiastically received by the
congregation. Alongside the Safari we have other
impacting programs such as CBR (Consistent Bible
Reading Classes). A total of 21 brethren graduated
in the 2015 class after an eight month long CBR
and Scripture Meditation Program. A total of 56
completed the Discipleship program (up to Book
7 of the Navigators Discipleship Series) and have
increased our pool of well discipled leaders to help
boost our pool of workers as we continue to roll
out CITAM Safari. 39 brethren went through the
Doctrinal Class and graduated in November having
received firm foundational teachings on the doctrines
of the Christian faith and practice. 22 new growing
together groups were formed making a total of 58
by the end of the year. In September, the Bible
Study groups effectively partnered with the missions
department to witness in their respective estates and
a total of 161 decisions for Christ were recorded). 54
people graduated from the Leadership Development
Program, which is geared towards equipping leaders
for ministry in the church and the market place.
Men’s and Women’s Ministry
The men ministry started the year with the normal
excursion to Mt Longonot where 170 men made it.
70 men went through ‘Man enough’ program and
there were testimonies of great transformation that
happened in this program.
The women organized a Mother and Daughter
breakfast event where communication between
mothers and their daughter was discussed .This
event was repeated due to public demand but
The young women involvement in WM is notably
increasing. To God be the glory.
Music ministry
Sunday worship experience has continued to be
among the highlights in Woodley. Vibrant worship
was enhanced with the introduction of at least 1-2
new songs per month .The team focused on having
the children’s choir and teens worship team lead
every quarter while the main church team taking a
break. 10 weddings were celebrated in the team.
Way forward
The theme for 2016 is ‘Behold an open door’
Rev3:8. We look forward to experiencing God’s
favor, power and transformation. We will be receiving
a new 2,500 sitter together with chairs from China in
the first quarter. The main congregation will relocate
into the tent while the youth will use the multipurpose
sanctuary as their place of worship. Later on in the
year we begin resource mobilization for a mega
sanctuary that will come with much needed facilities
like prayer and counseling rooms, visitor’s parlor and
multilevel underground parking.
CITAM CED REPORT
Indeed, I can confidently say that
we unblocked the ancient wells,
and we are now enjoying a fresh
flow of wells in our spiritual lives
Rev. Robin Mulunda
CED Coordinator
Introduction
What an amazing year we had! 2015 was a year
of quite significant achievements in the CED
department, especially as relates to our flagship
projects: The Safari and the CAMP Program. Indeed,
I can confidently say that we unblocked the ancient
wells, and we are now enjoying a fresh flow of wells
in our spiritual lives.
The Safari Finally kicked off!
When we conceived the idea of the Safari as a
pathway to growth and transformation a few years
ago, we did not anticipate how much it would take
us to birth it safely. After spending about 2 years to
develop, it was a great joy to see The Safari kick off
properly in all the assemblies in 2015. Our CITAM
mission is truly being pursued through the Safari and
other CED programs: To know God and make Him
known through evangelism and discipleship.
By God’s Grace, we were able to roll out the Enter
stage of the Safari for both adults and the older
children (10years & above). We were also able to run
the Encounter stage part 1 for adults and completed
the development of the Safari Junior materials for all
age groups. The implementation of the Safari has
inspired people’s personal daily walk with God, and
added new impetus in the life of small groups. We
have heard of very great testimonies of Salvation,
revival, healings, restoration and providence as
people dared to test God in various ways learnt in
the Safari sessions.
Beyond our circles, The Safari has been lauded as
a great discipleship initiative and was exhibited as
an example to follow in 2 International discipleship
conferences in 2015 alone: first at the Continental
discipleship conference in Addis Ababa, and then
at the IDMC conference in Singapore. In both
conferences, a slot was given in the plenary for us to
share about The Safari (Rev Robin Mulunda shared
in Addis and Rev Jacob Kimathi in Singapore).
Continental Discipleship Conference
In pursuit of partnership and networking in
discipleship, the Head of CED led a team of 100
delegates from CITAM and about 50 others
from other churches in Kenya to the Continental
Discipleship Conference held at the Africa Union
headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia between
the 26th & 28th Feb 2015. In Addis, we joined
4000 other delegates from across the world
(from 28 countries) in making various
resolutions. One of the key resolutions
and commitment was for the Church
in Africa to make discipleship the
primary core business of the
Church. Rev Robin Mulunda
read the resolutions of the
CITAM Annual Report and Financial Statements | 2015

CITAM CED REPORT
conference, while Rev John Wesley Nguuh led
the delegates in praying for the Church in Africa to
achieve this milestone, which we observed is critical
in dealing with the so prevalent strives in Africa.
As a department, we are fully committed to
spearhead the accomplishment of this commitment
by CITAM. In this regard, we shall continue to focus
on making discipleship a key pillar not only in our
churches but in all our other ministries, including
media and institutions.
We shall also continue working closely with other
churches Intentional discipleship making churches
and organizations so that our reach goes beyond the
Kenyan borders.
CAMP & Student Pastor’s Programs
The CAMP program continues to be one of the
greatest highlights in our ministry. The main
objective of CAMP is to mentor young persons
who sense a call to ministry by giving them a year
of training in full-time ministry, as they continue to
listen to God. After the program, some go back
to pursue their professions, while others join
Theological schools to prepare for full time service
in the church.
In 2015, we witnessed the full circle of this program,
when 4 of the pioneer CAMP interns graduated
from Bible College. Three of them have since been
appointed as pastors in our assemblies. Currently,
we have 15 of them in Bible college, and we are
hence going to be graduating between 4 to 7 pastors
every year. The Lord is indeed sending the workers
for the ready harvest.
As part of continuous ministry mentorship, all the
former CAMP interns in their 2nd year of studies
were appointed as Student pastors across the
CITAM assemblies. We hope to establish this as
a practice.
Challenges
Our main challenges in 2015 were lack of sufficient
technical staff and funds required for us to deliver the
Safari timely and efficiently. We hope to fix this and
be able to meet all our targets in 2016 and beyond.
Way Forward in 2016
Indeed, the door is clearly open for us in 2016, and
we are trusting God to enter and walk in the paths he
is leading us into. We hope to achieve the following:
i) Roll out of the Safari junior for all age categories
(from age 3) and harmonize the timings with the
adult Safari, to enhance discipleship at the family
level.
ii) Complete the remaining parts of the Encounter.
One of the key highlight to watch out in 2016 is
the Breakthrough Week/Weekend happening in
the last week of June.
iii) Host the Africa Discipleship Conference (ADC) to
be held in Nairobi in July.
iv) Roll out the Safari to other churches and interested
groups within Kenya and abroad. We have some
open doors for Safari in USA, Vietnam, Ghana,
and Rwanda.
v) Re-brand our small groups (Bible study/GT groups)
to SAFARI Groups, as part of mainstreaming the
Safari in our ministry operations.
Conclusion
I thank God for keeping me strong even when I got
grounded for over 10 weeks after surgery. His grace
has indeed been sufficient. I do thank all the CED
staff and Safari writers, for working for many extra
hours to meet deadlines. May the Lord remember
you and bless you abundantly. We are on the right
track of making disciples of all nations. Come all; let
us walk this ancient path.
we look forward for greater things
in 2016 and trust God for many
Purity Nyambura Kariuki
Ag. Catering Manager
Preamble
The Catering Unit began the year 2015 at a low
notch: the school lunch program which is our main
business went down as a result of low registration
in our schools and transfer of staff. All the same we
thank God because the numbers increased with time
and we were able to have a steady income from the
schools and functions.
Sunday school Parents and Teachers enjoying
refreshments at CITAM Buruburu
Achievements
• Parklands Canteen became fully operational and
it is now able to cater for all Head Office and
Parklands Church functions.
• Construction for Woodley catering unit kitchen
started in 2015 and it is ongoing and should be
completed by end of April this year. We really
thank God for this breakthrough. This will upgrade
catering services and offer more space and better
working environment for the staff and hence they
can manage many functions at the same time.
CITAM CATERING UNIT REPORT
• There has been a marked improvement in the
increase of pupils on lunch program in Kisumu
Academy. The lunch program started with 320
pupils in 2014 and it has since grown to 347.
The catering unit also started offering tea/snacks
to pupils last year and it has grown from an initial
139 pupils to 220 pupils.
• The catering unit in Kisumu has also been
handling more internal functions as compared to
the inception period. This is largely attributed to
the customer confidence in the catering unit.
• The catering unit in Ngong is also doing very
well with 96% of the pupils on school lunch and
Woodley is feeding over 70% of the pupils.
• The catering unit in Valley road was able to cater
for many outside functions last year which include;
Young Lawyers’ Conference, Barclays Bank end
of year staff party and UN Christian fellowships.
This certainly confirms that the standards of our
services are of excellent quality.
• The catering unit was able to successfully
organize and cater for major functions like Annual
Delegates Conference (ADC), Annual General
Meeting (AGM), Joint Women Ministry convention
and Workers Appreciation parties.
Appreciation
We really appreciate all the people who requested
us to cater for their private functions like weddings,
graduation parties and home gatherings. We are
also grateful to the parents for entrusting us with
their children’s meals. We also thank God for CITAM
Assemblies, schools and Head office for their
support and for offering ready market for our catering
services. We believe we will soon spread our wings
to the new schools as we look forward for greater
things in 2016 and trust God for many open doors.
Challenges
• The rise of food prices throughout the year while
the school meal charges have remained the same
in some schools for 4 years is a great challenge.
CITAM CAMP KADOLTA REPORT
53
We thank God for being good to
us and seeing us through this far
Esther Theuri
Manager
‘The Rest Haven’
We thank God for the strides made in the year
2015 at CITAM Camp Kadolta. Though the facility
is still developing its structures, we have continued
to receive guests throughout the year from different
destinations i.e. locally and internationally. We
opened the year with special guests from Exter
University, Australia who had come camping for 3
days. They choose our campsite because of the
close proximity to the Nairobi National Park and the
location of their field study.
Achievements
• Camp Kadolta was able to market herself as a
preferred destination for many CITAM Ministries
during their retreats. We were able to host
various ministry groups for day and overnight
retreats. A special rate has been established
to allow our ministry members enjoy services
offered at the Campsite.
• We have had various churches within Nairobi
partnering with us during the year. Some of
them have given us repeated business since
the inception of the campsite. With increased
capacity and modern facilities, we believe the
Campsite will be able to attract more churches
within Nairobi County and beyond.
• Late last year a sizeable generator was procured
for the facility. This has enhanced our service
delivery; (with power outages during the rainy
seasons, it used to be quite unbearable to serve
guests in darkness but this is behind us now).
• There is a big sigh of relief with the completion
of a drainage system which has helped reduce
to a certain percentage the challenge of flooding
during very heavy rainfalls. The drainage though
not guaranteeing 100% flood control is able
to contain big volume of waters that would
otherwise spill over to our facility.
• The quality of food and housekeeping
services has greatly improved.
Staff are continually developing
themselves and improving
on various skills. Various
hygiene methods are
CITAM CAMP KADOLTA REPORT
• Staff Retreat: The staff took a retreat in
December. It was a beautiful time of reflection
and strategizing. The staff was also able to visit
one of the leading hotels in the industry to see
operations of a high standard setting. The visit
motivated staff and more partnership is being
sought for an exchange programme.
Looking Forward
deployed to give our guests healthy meals in a
conducive environment.
Guests coming for overnight stay enjoy bush
dinners and bonfire at night. The bonfire is quite
an attraction to many, as guests sit under the
open skies reminiscing and narrating stories deep
into the night.
Our nyama choma is next to no other. Individuals
and groups have continued to enjoy the tantalizing
meat from Masaai goats. Guests are also treated
to boiled soup and ‘mutura’.
• The current grounds that are in use have
undergone some landscaping which has given
the facility a facelift. There is need to do more
landscaping on the expansive ground and this will
be done in phases.
There are some umbrellas placed strategically for
guests to enjoy their meals and relaxation.
We are looking forward to creating more awareness
among CITAM membership and churches within
Nairobi. This will be done immediately the facility has
developed the remaining infrastructure. We expect to
tap into the wide market within CITAM, other churches,
NGOS and Government bodies. The campsite will be
a great destination for honeymooners, conferencing,
group retreats, family get-aways and a serene place
for prayer and meditation.
The leadership and management of CITAM are
working towards increasing the capacity of the facility
i.e. guests rooms, dining, conference and kitchen.
We pray and hope this will be completed, dedicated
and launched before the end of this year, 2016.
There is need to partner with other hotels in the same
industry for experience, exposure and benchmarking.
We have already earmarked one leading hotel that
we can partner with.
We thank God for being good to us and seeing us
through this far. The journey has been tough but His
grace and providence has been overwhelming.
Our gratitude goes to the Bishop, Director for
Administration and the Deacon Board for their
encouragement and provision for all that we have
requested for.
Thanks to the Senior Pastors, Pastors, HoDs,
HoUs, Administrators, ministry leaders, members
of the congregation and non-CITAM people who
have believed in us and have constantly brought
us business
A big salute to the staff at the campsite who go
beyond the call of duty to ensure that our guests are
well taken care of.
… And to those who have not visited the campsite,
we say WELCOME.
CITAM RESOURCE MOBILIZATION REPORT
TWM is designed to work within
our discipleship system to
encourage and embrace a ‘culture
of stewardship and generosity’
Rev. Kwame Rubadiri
Coordinator, Resource Mobilization
At the end of 2014 CITAM established a
department of Resource Mobilization to help the
church continue the important work for funding
the construction of new sanctuaries, expanding
our missions and ensuring that our social action
ministries like care for the at-risk children at our
Children’s Center were well supported.
God has blessed us at CITAM with a large
congregation, great gifts and abundant resources.
But quite often these gifts and resources are evident
from only a small percentage of the congregation;
and even though by the Grace of God we accomplish
a lot – all of us know that we can (indeed we should)
accomplish a great deal more.
Together We Can Do More (TWM) was launched in
September 2015 and introduced to all the CITAM
Assemblies as the natural progression of our efforts
after the close of Moving the Ark. TWM is described
as a “progression” because we want to introduce a
new ‘culture’ to CITAM that will ensure support for this
ministry for decades to come. TWM is designed to
work within our discipleship system to encourage and
embrace a ‘culture of stewardship and generosity’.
The objective of this 1-year capital stewardship
campaign is to raise support for the completion of
construction for the permanent sanctuaries (three
remain to be done) CITAM Buru Buru, Thika Road
and Nakuru. In addition to encourage a regular (and
growing) pool of funding for future sanctuaries,
current missions, street child rehabilitation and
much more.
Based on our efforts during the MTA campaign we
can conservatively raise KES 150 million every year
over and above regular tithes and offering from just
over 11,000 members of CITAM – that’s roughly one
quarter of our total membership/attendance.
TWM was introduced via a ‘soft launch’ in the last
quarter of 2015 and just over 2,500 of us committed
KES 85 million toward a last quarter goal of KES 50
million. This in itself was an outstanding expression
of faith in God and our potential to do so much more
if we would only rally our efforts together and strive to
accomplish what the Lord asks us to do!
We decided to use the TWM ‘launch’ period to
re-introduce ourselves to the amazing ministry of
CITAM. We did so by sharing a video series entitled
“Discovering CITAM”.
The series highlighted four big things we have
accomplished TOGETHER over the years.
The first video highlighted the transformation the Lord
has allowed us to experience in the lives of the street
children at our rehabilitation center in Kiserian. The
Center celebrated 20 years of ministry in August
2015 and we shared the testimony of several young
people (some are now graduates of local universities)
who began life at the Center right from the rough
59
streets of Nairobi. The video highlighted the progress
made in the education, health and spiritual growth
of these children that would otherwise have been
forgotten and abandoned in our society.
The second video highlighted the expanding ministry
of CITAM Ngong, where the second of the five new
sanctuaries will be located. The video showed the
vibrant ministry of the Assembly to the growing
metropolis of Ngong town and its immediate environs.
Ngong is no longer a growing residential area but fast
becoming a commercial center as well and CITAM
Ngong is well placed to impact the many families and
businesses moving to their vicinity. Construction is
on-going and should be complete in 2016.
The third video celebrated the great ministry at CITAM
Parklands since we officially started services there in
January 2014. The energy and commitment to Christ
of the many Asians who have joined the Assembly is
clearly seen throughout the video. It is important that
all of us at CITAM see the results of all our prayers,
all our giving and our presence in Parklands reaching
out to the community there. Highlighting what is
happening in CITAM Parklands is a great model for
our efforts to evangelize and disciple across different
cultures around Africa and the rest of the world.
The fourth video shares the unique partnership
between CITAM and Pan African Christian University
(affectionately known as PAC University) which is
partial owned by the church and from where a large
number of our pastors received theological training.
PAC University is committed to training godly leaders
for every sphere of life in Africa in the coming years.
It is a commitment embraced by CITAM and an
investment well worth making.
TWM is really about our ‘life in ministry’ together; our
efforts, our prayers, our resources can accomplish
far more than we can imagine – if we can work
TOGETHER.
Pastor Andy Stanley (of North Point Community
Church in Atlanta GA, USA – 40,000 members) once
said “A big church will always have big responsibilities”
We certainly do have big responsibilities and we
cannot thank you all enough for your prayerful,
sacrificial, faithful and generous giving to the ministry
and mission of CITAM and to the timely fulfillment of
our Vision.
To God alone be ALL the Glory! Amen.
CITAM MISSIONS & OUTREACH REPORT
Here I Am Lord, Send Me!
Rev. Patrick Kuchio
Head of Missions
Frontier Missions
Marsabit
After laboring in Northern Kenya for a period of time,
it was a great joy to commission two indigenous
Pastors: Pastor Benedict Duba (Borana Community)
and Pastor John Hirbo (Burjii Community). The
two, with the assistance of CITAM Missions had
successfully completed their BA in theological
training and induction in CITAM. This is in line with
our Missions objective in capacity building and
leadership development in our target communities.
Both Benedict & John are serving in Marsabit in
CITAM Gororukesa & CITAM Mataarba respectively.
A major highlight included a successful leaders and
peace conference sponsored by CITAM and other
stake holders including the county government. 42
people gave their lives to Christ and many were set
free from demonic oppression as others were healed
both spiritually and physically.
Olturot
For the first time in Olturot, there was a major
evangelistic Campaign. This included open air
crusade, Jesus film and moonlight ministries. This
culminated with DVBS in where more than 200
children attended for four days. 10 people gave their
lives to Christ.
After many failed attempts, we managed to
successfully plant 40 trees in 2014.
Kargi
The year 2015 was a year of great changes,
transformation and breakthroughs. Among the
change was the Sabbatical leave for Rev. John
Mwangi Ndegwa and Rev. Wandii taking over the
leadership of the mission station. It was not easy for
the community to understand the transition which
was happening for the first time, nevertheless the
church witnessed growth in the midst of spiritual,
physical and leadership challenges. 12 people who
were among those who got saved went through
waters of baptism after several weeks of training. We
continued to engage in Manyatta outreach, sports
evangelism and for the first time the church youth
made a drama presentation. The church numbers
which had drastically dropped have now increased
with an average of 110 people.
Loiyangalani
There was a successful medical camp in Loiyangalani
where a dentist, an Ophthalmologist (eye doctor)
and two clinical officers cum missionaries served
over 350 members of the Elmolo community. Elmolo
lives at the shores of Lake Turkana and their diet is
mainly fish. Due to lack of balanced diet, they have
61
numerous health problems. This medical camp was
well received by the community. Another highlight is
the water baptism where 21 converts were baptized
after a thorough teaching on the same.
Archers Post
Tree farming in Olturot
is attributed to the insecurity which made people to
move to areas deemed secure and also the fact that
transformation of the adults who are deep rooted in
their culture has not been easy.
International Missions
Baptism in Lake Turkana
Our missions’ station at Archers Post became the
biblical “Cities of refuge” as affected communities
sought refuge from their enemies during the tribal
clashes that rocked the greater Isiolo County.
Other outreach programs included sports evangelism
for the junior & senior Morans. DVBS brought together
about 600 children from Archers Post and its vicinity.
32 children aged from 9-13 got an opportunity
to visit CITAM Karen during DVBS and went back
transformed. For the first time, the Samburu &
Turkana children participated in the Global Day of
prayer. Seven teens went through the CITAM HOPES
camp. These teens recorded improved performance
in the KCPE results with the first attaining 320marks
and the last 248 Marks.
It is worth noting that these programs and others not
mentioned led to the increase of church and mainly
the children and youth as follows ; the children
church (Hope Class), ages 4 to 8 grew from 80
to 150 children, (Faith Class), ages 9 to 13 years)
grew from 30 to 80 and the youths from 40 to 90.
However, the grown-ups in 2015 dropped from 80
to 45 people the majority being young mothers. This
CITAM USA
Last year began on a high note with the mobilization
of the church towards the official dedication of
Sunday services of CITAM USA. The colorful event
attended by a leadership delegation and members
from across CITAM took place on 5th of April. The
weekly attendance services average about 100
adults and, children with the volunteer base growing
in leaps and bounds.
CITAM Namibia
Pastor Paul and Ruth Njoroge were commissioned
at CITAM Thika Road as lead Missionary Pastor
in Namibia. We continue to trust God for relevant
immigration documents for the Pastor and his family.
The church in Namibia went through a transition
which saw Pst. Nyamu leave for wider ministry
and Pst. Njoroge assume leadership towards
the end of last year. We thank God that
CITAM Namibia is now fully registered.
Currently, there is one bible study
group that meets in the pastors’
house.
Valley Road for Bangkok where they are serving with
Evangelical Church of Bangkok as Pastors in charge
of Life Groups. The commissioning followed a week
of cross-cultural missions orientation.
CITAM Romania
We have witnessed a great growth where we have
managed to establish a complete worship team with
instrumentalists; A prayer ministry team, a Children
Ministry team, an ushering and hospitality team and a
Youth Ministry team. We held our first baptism service
on 13th December 2015.
Pastor Steve and Liz Odera in Bangkok
The prison Ministry which was a flagship project has
grown tremendously. This year a total of 21 prisoners
received salvation and we were able to bless them
with Bibles. We now have a weekly Bible study
running in the prison.
63
We have several testimonies of answered prayers
over job situations, physical healing, restored
marriages, people who have found new meaning in
serving God, the list is amazing. We truly have every
reason to give glory to God.
CITAM Timor Leste (East Timor)
The missionaries in East Timor continue to spread
the Gospel of Christ through a holistic approach. The
church is registered with the Ministry of Justice in
Timor Leste as partners in community development
through education, public health and agriculture.
Through these activities, God’s love is manifested
and many have come to the knowledge of Christ and
their lives are being transformed.
Missionary Care
We salute the missionary care office for ensuring every
mission station is duly adopted by a CITAM assembly. We
thank the intercessors across our assemblies who have
since joined the prayer backbone for our missionaries.
Church Planting
Whereas we did not plant any church in 2015, we
plan to plant three churches: Thika Town, Ongata
Rongai and Embakasi/Utawala by the end of 2016.
Plans for the same are gaining traction by the day.
An elaborate church planting strategy for Kenya has
been developed and will see us move into every
County with the Republic of Kenya.
Evangelism & Outreach
The Missions and Outreach in conjunction with CITAM
Athi River conducted a major crusade in Athi River
town in May. We thank God for the 700 decisions
made for Christ. We are revamping our heavens
gates and hells flames drama outfit in readiness for a
series of shows in 2016.
Urban Missions
The Urban Missions office in partnership with the
assemblies sought to reach out to the de-churched,
unchurched and pre-churched urban populace. In
December hosted a musical show dubbed “12 days
of Christmas,” at Prestige Mall.
CITAM Woodley kids at the Prestige Mall for the adopt the
mall initiative
Sports Evangelism
We also hosted a governance conference for the
Kenya Rugby Union with a consequent direct impact
in managing the sport. This sports evangelism initiative
continues to bear fruit with the establishment of CITAM
Kisumu Rugby team that is duly registered with the
Rugby Union and is participating in the national fixtures.
Way Forward
We have trained our eyes on rolling out a fully
functional Social Action arm of CITAM through the
establishment of a peace and justice commission
to engage on matters advocacy as well as a
development and relief agency to augment our social
transformation agenda.
Conclusion
I want to sincerely thank the dedicated team members
that God has raised amongst us most of whom
have left the comfort of the predictable life to
serve God in very harsh and unpredictable
terrain. To you all we say, your labor in
the Lord is not in vain.
Special thanks to my wife Margie
for her invaluable support and
the gift that she is to me.
CITAM CHILDREN’S CENTRE REPORT
From the witness of all our
children, they have seen God
provide for them and change their
lives through this ministry
Janet Mwobobia
Manager
Preamble
It is to the glory of God that we report of his wonderful
works at our Children Centre in Kiserian. Throughout
the year, we have experienced God’s goodness and
providence. He has protected us and drawn us to
His presence. From the witness of all our children,
they have seen God provide for them and change
their lives through this ministry. The parents and
guardians are often overwhelmed with joy as they
share their gratitude for all they have seen God do for
them and their families. Although it is very painful to
hear the stories of the children about their suffering
before they came here, it is a great relief to the staff
that they are now receiving the help they need thanks
to God’s goodness and the faithfulness of His people
in giving and loving. In 2015, a total of 170 children
benefited directly from the program broken down as
follows: 83 at the rehabilitation centre; 35 sponsored
in boarding primary schools, 43 sponsored in
secondary schools; 5 in colleges and 4 in university.
Through this all, we knew God and made Him known
as we worshiped and served.
Africa Christian University with first class honours
lower division on October 23, 2015. Of the 35
children that were sponsored in boarding primary
schools, 13 completed KCPE in 2015 and scored
as follows: 5 pupils 335-382 marks - of these, two
were admitted to national schools; 3 had 250-300
marks; 7 scored 200-249 marks and 4 got 160-
199 marks. Results for the two students who sat
their KCSE in 2015 are awaited.
Achievements
Education: All 170 children were supported to
access education in their respective schools/
institutions. Dennis Koli attained our highest level
of sponsorship by completing his Bachelor Degree
in Leadership, Human Resource option at Pan
CITAM CHILDREN’S CENTRE REPORT
65
On a personal level, some children had an encounter
with God. Three of them said they had been visited
by Jesus in their dreams. One graphically explained
how angels had visited the Centre for ten consecutive
days in August in details that were too glorious to
have been made up by a child. Another dreamt of
the final judgment day. In line with its mission, we can
simply say we have seen God at work to change the
lives of the children at NPCCC.
Spiritual Nurture
Dennis Koli After graduation celebration at CITAM
VAlley Road
At NPCCC Academy, we had 16 children graduate
from kindergarten to primary level in November
2015. This was a great achievement especially
for those who were part of the 57 rescued for
rehabilitation in February 2015 as 25 of the others
under rehabilitation could not even be placed in
pre-school after one year of school for them to fit
into regular schooling. It is confirmed that more
than 60% of all rescues (aged between 6-8 years)
constitute children who have never gone to school
for various reasons hence the delays in adapting to
learning in a school setting.
Rehabilitation
At the centre, we had 87 children enlisted for
rehabilitation after the admission of 57 children in
February 2015. However, four could not cope, making
the retention rate stand at 95% for the fiscal year.
All children under rehabilitation were provided with
education, psychosocial support, life skills, counseling,
nutritional care, medical care and boarding. Over and
above, they were taught God’s word and received His
love through various forms of kind acts from each other,
staff and the community. Their highlight was the visit to
the Kenya Railways Museum and for the few who were
privileged to attend Janet Muhoro’s wedding this was
also a beautiful memory. This was the case of Anthony
Kamau who was the star of the day with an eloquent
speech before the children gave their performance and
also as he presented the gift to Bishop JB & Persia
Masinde of Deliverance Church.
Anthony Kamau of NPCCC gives a gift to Bishop Dr.
J. B. Masinde and Persia Masinde at Janet Muhoro’s
wedding. The event was also graced by Bishop Dr.
David Oginde
On November 8, 2015 21 children from
the centre, upon the confession of their
faith in Jesus Christ and being taken
through discipleship class were
baptized at CITAM Kiserian by
Rev. Mathew Keli and Intern
Pastor Raymond Juma. One
of them who had been initiated to occult at the
age of 5 and had been prayed for in many tears for
two months, explained that upon stepping into the
baptism water, heard wailing screams of spirits
leaving and had not had any other attack by the
date of this report. Also, the staff and children
who could read were taken through the Safari
discipleship, Enter Stage. It was simply awesome.
Mentorship Programme
In April, 35 high school students in secondary
school participated in the mentoring program for
a week at the Centre. They were taken through
the No Apologies program by Tabitha Ogango.
In addition, they had their academic reports
reviewed for goal setting and counseling. This
way, most of them had their confidence boosted
which enhanced their performance in school
and relationships with one another, several had
improved in their academic performance by
the end of the year. In August holidays, another
program was carried for 30 children sponsored in
primary boarding schools.
It is also worth noting that the friendships
established with children and staffs at NPCCC
have created a useful social network. It was a great
encouragement to have Ann Naishura at Dennis
Koli’s graduation and get updates about her work
life since she graduated last year.
The focus in 2015 was to unblock the ancient
wells. With regards to leadership and sustainability,
the focus was on reviewing the initial purpose of
the project and aligning the activities to the care
and nurture of children particularly with regards to
actual programs. It was noted that the facilities and
personnel needed upgrading to secure excellent
services to the children. One major initiative was to
encourage children participation in the decisions that
affect them, while ensuring that they are respectful
and responsible. Gardening to provide affordable
and quality meals was also upheld. This year
recorded poor income generation in the tailoring and
carpentry production as the workshop burnt down in
an electric fault fire in February. This has since been
compensated for rebuilding. We anticipate a more
productive year in 2016.
Way Forward
Our focus in 2016 will be to seek God for the doors
open to each of the children in our program and
to support the staff to give their best in service to
God. Seeing children, who would otherwise have
been scavenging at the dumping sites or prostituting
for food, laugh heartily at every joyous opportunity,
puts a smile on our Lord’s face. The way forward is
to sustain the services we continue to render and
to further improve our operations and programing
to feature community transformation in our area of
focus so that even children who may never join us
can gain better care from empowered caregivers.
Our goal is to educate each child that God brings our
way to a point they have skills ad qualification to serve
humanity. We therefore plan to have a sponsorship
fund for NPCCC children to accommodate the
escalating costs for education sponsorship as we
increase the number of children in the program. We
appeal to you to hold us up in prayer as we trust in
God to give and love for the care and protection of
children at or related to NPCCC. Kindly open your
hearts and hands when we reach out to you to give
towards this sponsorship fund. God bless you as
you give towards this noble course.
PAC UNIVERSITY’S REPORT
67
From the witness of all our
children, they have seen God
provide for them and change their
lives through this ministry
Prof. Margaret J. Muthwii
Vice Chancellor
Introduction
2015 marked the second year of the Business
Plan (2014-2018) and the end of the Strategic
Plan (2011-2015) which had been put in place by
PAC University to provide the roadmap for growth
and revitalization of the University. This report,
therefore, outlines what the University achieved in
2015 in the light of the two documents.
Growth in the Academic Division
Achievements in 2015 include:
a) The Valley Road Campus received
accreditation from the Commission for
University Education (CUE).
b) CUE approved the Bachelor of Commerce &
Master of Business Administration Programmes.
c) New Staff on board: (1 Professor; 7 Doctorates;
2 tutorial fellows).
d) 2 PhD, 2 MA, 1 BA, 1 Diploma and 1 certificate
programmes were developed/launched:
MA Biblical Theology; MA Pentecostal &
Charismatic Studies; PhD in Marriage and
Family Therapy; PhD in Organizational
Leadership; BA in Transformational Church
Leadership; Diploma in Disability Studies;
Certificate in Situational Chinese
e) MAMFT students travelled to Canada on a study
opportunity with a partner institution.
f) The University produced its first-ever academic
Journal “The PAC University Journal of Arts and
Social Sciences”
g) Offered value addition courses to PAC students:
(employability skills, research & writing)
h) Established significant partnerships through its
Corporate Business Leadership Centre (CBLC):
the University signed MOUs with World Vision
Kenya & Vision 2030 Secretariat and these are
vibrant partnerships bearing fruit.
2015 Student Numbers & Business
Plan Projections
a) Often, growth in student numbers is a main
indicator of wellness and vibrancy in a small
University. In comparison to 2014, 2015
(going to 2016) was more robust in attracting
more students to PAC – this strength was
‘felt’ through the degree of financial wellbeing
of the institution. Enrolment in January 2016
reached 3504 compared to 2790 in January
2015 as shown below. We celebrate this
growth but note that the Business Plan
(BP) projections were not met. More
work needs to be done to get
the University to where the
BP envisioned us to be this
time, this year.
b) The University graduated 402 students in 2015
(degree, diploma and certificate) compared to
344 in 2014 (degree, diploma, certificate).
c) We are very grateful to God for giving us growth
in numbers. We are constantly looking for ways to
accelerate this growth. Please pray for us.
Achievements by Administration
Division
a) The Division started the year by hiring a competent
HR manager to support the restructuring process
that was desperately needed at PAC University.
With a new HR manager in place, the University
successfully concluded a HR Audit which
determined suitability of staff for the direction
and focus the University had set for itself. Many
services have been outsourced-- with a significant
reduction on cost.
b) A Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and
Planning) has been recruited and is hoped to join
the team in May 2016, God willing.
c) There has been significant strengthening of the
Hospitality and Housing (H&H) department and
the refurbishment of Hostels, guest houses
and the compound. The H&H unit makes the
university look great and is significantly making
money for us.
d) We established and equipped a gym & a
Students’ Centre
e) Part of the Old library was renovated and
transformed to accommodate the huge
Transformational Church Leadership (TCL)
programme offices. We thank God.
f) There has been increased visibility of the University
through
• the hoisting of signage along Valley Road and
Thika Super Highway;
• the updated website with links to University social
media sites;
• secured 6 free features with KASS and Standard
newspapers;
• live coverage of 2015 Graduation on KTN;
• https://youtube/mcH3IPW8yW4;
• Set up of marketing call centre to support followup
of enquiries.
Chaplaincy & Spiritual Temperature
of the University
Having a competent Chaplain has made a great
difference. It has been possible to meaningfully
encourage all workers to take their faith seriously
and live out their faith in action. Although we have
non-Christian students among us, the best way to
CITAM & PAOC 2015 financial
support
As we worked hard to make sure our internal
financing grew robustly, the University was greatly
supported by the generous support of CITAM and
PAOC. We were able to do much more because
of this support beyond what was envisioned in
the Business Plan. See below PAC University’s
Communication Studio (completed because of
CITAM’s financial support).
Conclusion
2015 was a great year for PAC University. God
was very faithful in working with us, helping us,
teaching us and enabling us achieve targets set
for the year. CITAM and other sponsors have
faithfully and cheerfully given their financial support
which has enabled the University move forward
with strength. Staff in all the departments have
worked in the most encouraging ways, with full
commitment and positive attitudes. We are grateful
to all who have helped PAC University experience
a wonderful 2015. Thank you CITAM for your
immense support to this ministry which seeks
to make a lasting impact in our world through
Christian higher education.
CITAM BURUBURU PRIMARY SCHOOL REPORT
73
Indeed we saw the wondrous works
of the Lord that enabled us to move
from one level of glory to another
Paul Njoga
Principal
We do thank the Almighty God for the immense
blessings that we experienced as an institution in
the year 2015. Indeed we saw the wondrous works
of the Lord that enabled us to move from one level
of glory to another. Our prayers were answered in
abundance that surpassed human understanding.
Enrolment
We began the year with a population of 349 pupils
in the primary section and 103 pupils in the ECDE
section thus a total of 462 pupils in the junior schools
as a whole. We are trusting God for numerical growth
as the year progresses.
Academics
The year 2015 was a milestone for our institution in
the academic spheres. The school achieved great
heights and this was further hoisted by exemplary
performance in KCPE. We produced the top 2
candidates in CITAM Schools. Our top candidate
Ruthie Wanjiku scored 424 marks while the 2nd best
candidate Amy Warighe scored 414 marks. They
have both proceeded to their schools of choice and
we give God the glory.
Ruthie has joined the mighty Pangani Girls High
School while Amy joined the prestigious Limuru Girls.
We also registered a mean score of 347.55 which
CITAM BURUBURU PRIMARY SCHOOL REPORT
• Community: We participated in two walks in
our community involvement. We had a Run for
Bibleless and Mater Heart run where the parents,
teachers and pupils participated overwhelmingly.
This made an impact to the community and we
were officially recognized by the two organizations
for a job well done
Infrastructure
Students’ council Elections 2015
was a positive deviation of +27.75 in comparison to
2014. We strive to attain a mean score of 384.00 in
KCPE 2016. With prayers and hard work we shall
achieve it.
Co-curricular Activities
In line with our motto of educating a whole person,
our pupils excelled in co-curricular activities that had
been outlined for the year.
• In drama, the dance “Anti Vitamins” was
unstoppable. We were crowned champions in all
the levels of competition as from Zonal, Districts,
and Regionals all the way to the nationals. The
dance won in various other categories as “best
choreographed dance”, “best production” and
the “best soloist” at the nationals we simply
out did all the other competitors and that is an
indicator that we are a school to reckon with.
• In Tae Kwondo, the school team participated in
the annual tournament held at The Banda School.
The team won a total of 35 medals thus leaving
our competitors to be mere spectators. This
brought out our prowess in the game.
The massive projects that the Buruburu campus
initiated have all come to completion:
• Perimeter wall: The entire Buruburu campus has
a perimeter wall that runs all-round the campus.
This has enhanced the security situation in the
compound thus the safety of the learners and
teachers is assured.
• Children’s playground: The playground has
been upgraded and very soon it will be of high
standard. The disciplines that require the pitch for
its activities will be greatly advantaged.
This year we trust upon the Lord for the
facelift of the whole campus in line with our
2016 projections.
Looking Ahead
The school is focused in being the model school in
Kenya where every learner is impacted with sound
Christian education and educational instruction so as
to churn out godly, upright and intellectual leaders for
this generation and beyond. This is in line with our
organisation’s vision.
Core Values
As an institution, we are committed to effective and
efficient service delivery. We have ensured that we
put into practise the organisation’s core values in our
day to day running:
• Family: We had a family prayer breakfast where
all the parents and teachers in the Buruburu
campus led by the Deputy Bishop Rev Ken
Kimiywe participated. It was fruitful thus enhanced
our relations as stakeholders in the business
CITAM WOODLEY SCHOOL REPORT
75
We had a very busy and
successful year in school, and
you as partners in the education
of your children deserve much of
the credit for that
David Omutanyi
Principal
Introduction
We at CITAM Schools- Woodley look back with a
lot of gratitude to God for the things He has done,
as we continue ‘Pressing towards the mark.’ Having
ended the year with a lot of uncertainty in the
nation, and especially with the protracted teachers’
strike bearing in mind our proximity to Kibra slums,
we thank God for His favour and protection. Our
Theme for the year 2015 was, “Unblocking the
ancient wells” Gen. 26:23-25. We have continued to
experience excellence and growth in all dimensions;
academically, numerically and spiritually. We
appreciate all those who have faithfully walked with
us this far. As we come to the close of the year, I am
happy to report that we have seen the hand of God
in every activity.
New Enrolment
Currently, the school enrolment stands at 799 pupils;
210 in Nursery and 589 in Primary. We hope for
continued numerical growth in 2016.
Academics
The school’s academic performance has continued
to improve and we are determined to transform
CITAM Schools- Woodley to a centre of academic
excellence, a home away from home and a school
of choice to many. Forty nine candidates sat KCPE
2015 examination and posted a mean score of
332.96 translating to 66.59%. The summary is as
tabulated below:
KCPE Marks
Number of Pupils
400 and above 2
350 – 399 15
300 – 349 20
250 – 299 10
Below 250 1
The school’s top student: Otieno Lister Apella scored
403 out of a possible 500 marks followed by Orimba
Pearl Nungari with 401 marks. Other exceptional
performers were; Meseret Misikiri Mengesha 396,
Maina Kimani Joshua 388, Githiomi Daniel Mwangi
385, Redempta Umutoni 381among others. We are
indeed grateful to God!
Co-curricular Activities
At CITAM Schools- Woodley, we endeavor to
identify and nurture talent in all aspects
of learning in a bid to maximize on the
God-given talents in the learners
without stifling their freedom. This
is just what the youth are looking
for today!
CITAM WOODLEY SCHOOL REPORT
Play is an integral part of child learning. Research
has shown that schools with sufficient play facilities
and activities have produced better all-round learners
especially in the early years. As a learning institution,
we have embraced this concept and enhanced the
wonderful world of pupils. CITAM Schools- Woodley
is a colourful, playful, learning and fun world. We
play, learn and grow in tandem with our mission,
“Educating the whole person.”
Music and Drama
Keeping abreast with the current trends in
education, the school has continued to excel in
co-curricular activities. CITAM Schools- Woodley
is still consistent in participating in the annual
Kenya Music Festivals, where each year we get
to the National Level. Our school participated in
the 2015 Kenya Music Festivals; Nationals held
at CITAM Schools- Kisumu. We entered three
special Classes; the Ballet, the Senior Girls
and Junior Choirs scooping 3rd, 2nd and 5th
positions respectively out of over 40 entrants in
each category and received presidential award
certificates. These items were showcased during
school functions and parents were thrilled with the
high level of talent and creativity exposed. To this
we give God all the glory!
Art Club
Participated in the Japan Embassy sponsored
Kite festival late last year and featured in the Daily
Newspaper for their outstanding gifting and talent.
Locally, the Art Club Members in liaison with Juhudi
Kenya Children Club participated in the land mark
launch of Phase Two Tile Mosaic project at the
Kenyatta National Hospital. Their work has been
displayed at KNH to light up the world of the patients.
Giving to the Community
In a bid to give back to the community as articulated
in our CITAM Core Values, the school participated in
the 2015 Run for the Bible-less in conjunction with
the Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL). A total of
Ksh.81, 400 was realized. We thank all the parents
for their relentless support.
Spiritual Development
We are grateful to God because of the 12 pupils who
went through the waters of baptism at the end of the
year and those who gave their lives to Jesus Christ
and committed themselves to the study of scripture
and prayer.
Appreciation
I now take this opportunity to thank God who made
all things possible. I thank CITAM for a Vision and
Mission well thought. Appreciation also goes to the
outgoing Acting Principal Mr. J. Mukoro and the
Senior Teacher Mr. N. Luvembe, pupils, parents,
teachers and all staff for their overwhelming and
continued support to the institution and for a job well
done. Most importantly are the 2015 candidates
who worked tirelessly throughout the year to realise
good results.
Way Forward
Our theme for 2016 is, “Behold an open door”
drawn from Rev. 3:8. We pray that God will enable
us to exploit the numerous open opportunities and
transformation in the various dimensions of CITAM
Schools-Woodley. In the spirit of our motto, “We are
pressing on towards the mark!” Phil 3:14
CITAM NGONG SCHOOL REPORT
77
Introduction
We bless the name of the Lord for the far He has
brought us as a school. So far we can say that
He has been Ebenezer. CITAM Schools - Ngong
is laid on the foundation of Christian faith and as
a school we endeavour to make disciples from all
the nations in accordance to the great commission
that Jesus gave to His disciples in Matthew 28:19.
We consider the learners in our hands to be the
nations that God has brought our way for the
purpose of discipleship.
Enrolment
Many parents have seen the difference between our
school and other schools in Ngong. As a result our
enrolment has grown from 78 pupils at the close of
2014 to 113 by the end of 2015. We give God the
glory. However we intend to aggressively market our
school to increase enrolment. We hope to stretch
our catchment areas to Ongata Rongai and Karen by
the year 2016.
Academics
The school is offers the 8-4-4 system of education
and come year 2016; we intend to have our class
two. We have enough books and other resource
materials to help the learners become more
enlightened in their academic work. We also have
trained teachers who are helping the learners at
their own level.
Pre-School Graduation
The year 2015 was a remarkable year for us as a
school. We witnessed our pre-unit class graduate
into Primary school. This was a milestone for our
school. The parents and other guests turned out
in large numbers to witness the graduation of
their children.
Co-Curricular Activities
The school provides swimming lessons for the
young learners where they are taught different skills
in swimming. The school also offers music lessons
for the learners as a way of giving them opportunity
to explore their talents. We also took our children out
for educational trips where they were able to learn
and interact with the environment.
Governance
We have a strong B.O.M which has been instrumental
in school management. We also have the PTF where
the parents and teachers interact and come up with
workable ideas on how to improve the performance
of the learners.
Chaplaincy
The school‘s devotions have been conducted under
the able leadership of our pastors. The children
are taught how to read the bible, memorise Bible
verses and new songs of worship. The parents too
have been ministered to during school meetings.
Guidance and counselling has also been offered to
the parents and pupils promptly.
Challenges
The school is still young and as a result most of the
infrastructure are not yet well defined. We do not
have a field where the children can play comfortably
and also hold sports day as a school.
Transporting the children to and from school has
been a challenge since the school does not have its
own vehicle. We have outsourced this service which
is not very reliable especially when transporting
children for swimming lessons
Way Forward
• We look forward to getting a school bus which
will greatly assist us in the area of transport and
bring in income for the school.
• We trust God for increased enrolment come
year 2016.
To God be the glory.
CITAM NAKURU SCHOOL REPORT
Introduction
We thank God for taking us through 2015. It is hard
to believe how quickly this year has passed. Our
theme “A school where everybody is somebody”
enabled us to plug and glue in learners and parents
who were able to realize unity in its diversity.
New Enrolment
Enrolment steadily rose from 13 learners to 52 by
the close of 2015. It was encouraging and fulfilling
to see parents transfer children from other schools
to our school. 2016 looks very bright for us in terms
of enrolment.
Academics
Academically the school posted a remarkable
improvement. As a way of testing the waters, we had
joint Kindergarten exams with our neighbouring schools.
In a pool of five we emerged position two overall. The
foundation is being laid firm and by God’s grace we will
be able to produce our own academic pedigree brand.
Co-curricular Activities
Our learners participated actively in several activities.
With the help of Rev. Makena, we were given church
airtime to present to the congregation an item twice
every term. The learners displayed their prowess in
public speaking, music, playing of instruments just
but to mention a few.
The launch of CITAM Schools African Day was
a success. This gave the learners and parents an
opportunity to celebrate and appreciate different
cultures from different Kenyan communities.
Way Forward
Our blue print plan has been well designed to
ensure that:
a. We retain all the learners as we aim at increasing
learner’s enrolment.
b. Team up with like-minded academic institutions
to help us remain academically competitive.
c. Raise our revenue through increased learner
enrolment.
Conclusion
I would like to thank you all for your help, support
and interest this year. We had a very busy and
successful year in school, and you as partners in
the education of your children deserve much of the
credit for that.
There might be setbacks and sometimes false
starts. The road might be steep, long and bumpy.
We may not get there in one term or even a year.
But, CITAM Schools-Nakuru has never been
so hopeful than we are. We promise you, as an
institution we will get there.
CITAM ATHI RIVER REPORT
79
Introduction
The school opened its doors on Monday 11th
May, 2015 with two children; Alvin Joram and
Kaylah Makau.
Enrolment
Currently, the school enrolment stands at 9 children.
Four of them are in baby class and five in nursery.
Successes
Our school has good space for children to run around
at play. The classrooms are well ventilated and
spacious for children to play with various items as
they develop their motor-neuron skills. The location
of the school is very good as it is away from the busy
Mombasa highway thus buffering the children from
the motor vehicle noise pollution.
Advertising on print, electronic and
social media
We have been running video clips during
the Sunday service. The school will make a
presentation in the month of April during a Sunday
service to enhance popularity.
Parents Teacher Fellowship
To nurture teacher parent relationship, we are
in a process of identifying members of the PTF
committee, which will encourage more interaction
between parent, teacher and the children.
Challenges
We interviewed fifteen children in the month of
December 2015. Three of them were seeking class
one admission but were unable to gain admission
due to lack of quorum. We had two children for
admission to pre-unit but the parents declined to
bring them citing lack of competition.
Activities
Devotions
Following the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ who
said “man will not live by bread alone but by each
Word that comes from the mouth of God”, our day
starts with songs, memory verses and Bible stories.
Sports
Our co-curriculum is all rounded. Therefore we have
games/sports which are vital for child development.
CITAM KISUMU SCHOOL REPORT
Our prayer and dream in 2016
is, together with the larger
CITAM, we shall walk through
the success door as we sing
“IMELA,”expanding our territory...
Janerose Situma
Principal
Introduction
We are grateful that the Lord unblocked many
blocked wells in our school in 2015! We experienced
growth in the enrolment, exemplary KCPE results, to
mention but a few! Indeed, the Lord is EBENEZAR!
Enrolment
At the close of 2015 our enrolment stood at 419. We
trust in the Lord for higher enrolment in 2016.
Academic
We sat for the KSPA (Kenya Private School
Association) exam in all classes competing with
schools not only Kisumu County but also the rest
of the country. Networking with some of the best
performing schools around has been another channel
that added value to our academic excellence;
standard five, six and seven sat two county exams
and emerged 3rd, 2nd and 1st respectively. Finally
the KCPE results crowned it all; this was our 3rd
attempt. The Class managed to score a mean of
370.80 up by 22 marks from the previous score of
349 in 2014, with 5 pupils scoring above 400. The
last pupil had a score of 310 marks and managed to
join an Extra County School! Generally out of the 16
candidates 10 joined National schools and 6 joined
extra county schools. This has challenged the faculty
staff to continue working as a team in order to remain
on the top. We realize that being the first is not a
challenge, staying on the top definitely is! The rest of
the classes also worked tirelessly and so by the end
of the year our school mean had risen to 78.9%.
Achievements
Co-Curricular Activities:
a) The school participated in the Drama and Music
competitions up to the Regional’s. The Scouts
too had a one week-camp after which we
witnessed tremendous character transformation
in the members. The entire school has no choice
but follow their example and be more reliable and
responsible young boys and girls!
b) The other area we continue experiencing the
Lord’s favor is the excellent relationship we enjoy
between the parents, teachers and the pupils.
c) 4K –Club equally made the school friendly by
Our Future Outlook
Our prayer and dream in 2016 is, together with the
larger CITAM, we shall walk through the success
door as we sing “IMELA,”expanding our territory
through infrastructure and school transport which we
believe will go an extra mile in growing our enrolment
and realizing our dream as we break even financially.
Finally
As we get into 2016, our dream is to ENTER, THE
OPEN DOORS the Lord has graciously opened
before us! A Door for growth financially, enrolment,
spiritually and perfect joy in the service of the Lord
as we focus on pressing towards our goal; raising
intellectual, godly and upright transformational
leaders for this generation and beyond!
Appreciation
Finally I wish to appreciate the Deputy Bishop
Kennedy Kimiywe; CITAM Kisumu Pastoral team
under Rev. Anataka; The BoM team under the able
leadership of Elder Patrick Ochieng, the PTF under
the leadership of Elder Joel Enane, the parents,
faculty and support staff and our pupils who always
motivate us to be better every day. You are a great
team to work with! As we walk through the Open
Door, remember we are a team and I AM CITAM!
God bless KPCA. Amen.
CITAM ELDORET SCHOOL REPORT
On January 12th 2015, a CITAM School was born in
Eldoret. It had 4 classes; Baby Class to Class 1 with
only 18 pupils. By the end of 2015, this number had
risen to 25 with 2 faculty staff.
The school is growing steadily in spiritual matters
and academically and very soon it will be a school of
choice to the residents in Eldoret.
REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT AUDITOR TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CHRIST IS THE ANSWER MINISTRIES (CITAM)
REPORT ON FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
We have audited the accompaning financial statements of Christ Is The Answer Ministries(CITAM) set out on pages 90 to 100,which comprise the
balance sheet as at 31st December 2015, the statement of surplus or deficit, statement of changes in funds and the statement of cash flows
DEACON BOARDS’ RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
The Deacon Board is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of these financial statements in accordance with International
Financial Reporting Standards and the requirements of the Societies Act of Kenya. This responsibility includes designing, implementing and
maintaining internal controls relevant to the preparation and fair presentation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement,
whether due to fraud or error, selecting and applying appropriate accounting policies and making accounting estimates that are reasonable in the
circumstances.
AUDITOR’S RESPONSIBILITY
Our responsibility is to express an independent opinion on these financial statements based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance
with International Standards on Auditing. Those standards require that we comply with ethical requirements and plan and perform the audit to
obtain reasonable assurance whether the financial statements are free from material misstatement.
An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. The procedures
selected depended on our professional judgement, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial statements,
whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, we considered the internal controls relevant to the Ministry’s preparation and
fair presentation of the financial statements in order to design audit procedures that were appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the
purpose of expressing an opinion on the Ministry’s internal control. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies
used and the reasonableness of accounting estimates made by the Deacon Board , as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the financial
statements.
We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion.
OPINION
In our opinion, the accompanying financial statements and cash flows give a true and fair view of the state of financial affairs of the Ministry as at
31st December 2015 and of its surplus and cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with the International Financial Reporting
necessary for the purposes of our audit;
ii) In our opinion, proper books of account have been kept by the Ministry, so far as appears from our
FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2015
NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
CHRIST IS THE ANSWER MINISTRIES (CITAM)
NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2015
1 SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES
a) Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with and comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards. The
financial statements have been prepared on historical cost basis of accounting as modified by revaluation of certain property , plant
and equipment and presented in the translated currency (Kenya Shillings (Kshs) rounded to the nearest shilling. The preparation of
financial statements in conformity with IFRS requires the use of estimates and assumptions . It also requires the management to
exercise its judgement in the process of applying the Ministry's accounting policies. The areas involving a higher degree of judgement
and complexity, or where assumptions and estimates are significant to the financial statements are disclosed 1 (t).
b) Income recognition
Income is recognized to the extent that it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the ministry and the revenue can be
reliably measured. Income earned by the organization is recognized on the following basis:
Tithes, offerings and gifts from members, are recognized when received.
School fees income represents amount invoiced to the students during the year. Hope FM sales comprise the invoiced value net of
value Added Tax (VAT) where necessary.
c) Short-term investments
Short-term investments in are recognised at the transaction price and subsequently measured at fair value, with changes in fair value
being recognised in profit or loss. Fair value is determined using the quoted bid price at the reporting date.
d) Trade and other receivables
Trade and other receivables are initially recognised at the transaction price. Most sales are made on the basis of normal credit terms,
and the receivables do not bear interest. Where credit is extended beyond normal credit terms, receivables are measured at amortised
cost using the effective interest method. At the end of each reporting period, the carrying amounts of trade and other receivables are
reviewed to determine whether there is any objective evidence that the amounts are not recoverable. If so, an impairment loss is
recognised immediately in the income statements
e) Inventories
Inventories are stated at the lower of cost and selling price. Cost is calculated using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method.
f) Financial liabilities
Financial liabilities are initially recognised at the transaction price ( including transaction costs). Trade payables are obligations on the
basis of normal credit terms and do not bear interest. Interest bearing liabilities are subsequently measured at amortised cost using
the effective interest method.
g) Non-current assets
The non-current assets purchased from general fund are fully expensed in the income statement in the year of purchase. Those
purchased from designated funds are debited to the relevant funds. For purpose of control, they are held in non-current assets and
capital funds accounts, so that any change in the assets can be traced. Depreciation of the assets is reflected in both the noncurrent
assets and capital funds accounts. The effect of this is to reduce the value of the fixed assets and capital as a result
of diminution due to use. Depreciation is calculated on the straight line basis at annual rates estimated to write off carrying values of
the property, plant and equipment over their expected useful lives.
Motor Vehicles 25%
Computers & IT Equipment 30%
Office Equipments 15%
Furniture & Fittings 15%
Tents 15%
If there is an indication that there has been a significant change in depreciation rate, useful life or residual value of an asset, the
depreciation of that asset is revised prospectively to reflect the new expectations.
Gains and losses on disposal of plant, property and equipment are determined by reference to their carrying amounts and are taken
into account in determining operating the surplus.
h) Translation of foreign currencies
Transactions in foreign currencies during the year are converted into the functional currency, Kenya Shillings(functional currency) at
rates ruling at the transaction dates. Monetary assets and liabilities at the balance sheet dates which are expressed in foreign
currencies are translated into Kenya Shillings at exchange rates ruling at that date. The resulting differences from conversion and
translation are dealt with in the income statement in the year in which they arise.
i) Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and Cash equivalents comprise cash at bank, cash in hand, cash held in paybills and short-term deposits with an original maturity
of three months or less. For the purpose of the cash flow statement, cash and cash equivalents comprise of cash and cash
equivalents as defined above.
FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2015
NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
CHRIST IS THE ANSWER MINISTRIES (CITAM)
NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2015
1 SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES (CONT'D)
j) Post employment benefit obligation
The Ministry operates a defined contribution pension plan for its staff. The scheme is governed by the statutory regulations and the pension fund
assets are held independently of the Ministry's assets. In addition the Ministry and its employees contribute to a national defined contribution scheme-
National Social Security Fund (NSSF).Contributions are determined by the local statute and are currently limited to Kshs 200 per employee per
month. The Ministry's contribution to the above scheme are charged to the income and expenditure account in the year in which it relates. The
Ministry also recognises a liability of the accrued gratuity in the statement of financial position.
k) Trade and other payables
Trade and other payables are stated at their nominal value.
l) Provisions
A provision is recognized in the statement of financial position when the Ministry has a present legal or constructive obligation as a result of past
event and it is more likely than not that an outflow of economic benefit will be required to settle the obligation and it can be reliably estimated.
m) Intangible assets
Computer software licence costs and computer software are initially recognised at cost less accumulated amortisation and accumulated impairment
losses. Costs that are directly attributable to the production of identifiable computer software products controlled by CITAM are recognised as
intangible assets. Amortisation is calculated using the straight line method to write down the cost of each licence or item of software to its residual
value over its estimated useful life at an annual rate of 30%.
n) Prepaid operating lease rentals
Payments to acquire leasehold interest in land are treated as prepaid operating lease rentals and are amortized over the period of the lease.
o) Borrowing costs
Borrowing costs are recognised in the statement of comprehensive income in the period which they are incurred. However, borrowing costs that are
directly attributtable to the acquisition, construction or production of qualifying assets are capitalized as part of the cost of that asset. In the current
period the Ministry ceased capitalising borrowing costs related to CITAM's Jubilee Ministry Centre and CITAM Parklands because both assets are
already in use in line with IAS 23: Borrowing Costs .
p) Capital fund
Contributions received for the purchase of plant, property and equipment are taken to a capital fund and tranferred to a general fund over the
expected lives of the respective assets.
q) General fund
This represents amounts which are expendable at the discretion of CITAM in futherance of its objectives. Such funds may be held in order to finance
working capital or capital investment.
r) Critical accounting estimates and judgements
Estimates and judgements are continually evaluated and are based on historical experience and other factors, including experience of future events
that are believed to be reasonable under the circumstances.
s) Comparatives
Where necessary, comparative figures have been adjusted to conform with changes in presentation in the current year. In particular, the
comparatives have been adjusted or extended to take into account the requirements of the International Financial Reporting Standards.
t) i) Critical accounting estimates
Critical accounting estimates are made by the Deacon Board in determining depreciation rates for plant, property and equipment. The rates used are
set out in 1 (h).
ii) Critical judgements in applying the CITAM's accounting policies
In the process of applying CITAM's accounting policies, the Deacon Board has made judgements in determining:
- Whether assets are impared
- Provisions and contingencies
u) Foreign exchange gain/loss
Foreign currency transactions are translated into the functional currency using the exchange rates prevailing at the dates of the transactions or
valuation where items are re-measured. Foreign exchange gains and losses resulting from the settlement of such transactions and from the
translation at year-end exchange rates of monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies are recognised in the statement of
surplus or deficit. Foreign exchange gains and losses that relate to borrowings and cash and cash equivalents are presented in the statement of
surplus or deficit within ‘finance income or costs’. All other foreign exchange gains and losses are presented in surplus or deficit within ‘other income’
or ‘other expenses’.
