Chapter 4. Application security 4 One of the features of WebSphere is the ability to enable or disable global security. Global security acts as a switch that enables various security settings in WebSphere. For WebSphere V6.1 for z/OS, security enablement has been extended to allow enabling or disabling of application security while leaving administrative security enabled. By separating the two, application security can be disabled to diagnose application-related setup problems, while still leaving administrative security enabled to protect the administrative console. Application security is disabled by default. To enable application security, both administrative security and application security must be enabled.
