I started taking photos of bishoujo figures when I 

started collecting them. It is aproximately 3 years 

ago. I was active as a editor on Konata website 

during 2013, 2014. I was mainly focused on writing 

articles about bishoujo figures. I started project 

Figubo (Figure Board) in 2014, it a project focusing 

on gifted photographers of Japanese bishoujo figures 

and dolls that were mainly inspired by anime. 

The idea of this project is to offer an opportunity 

for photographers to display their work through a 

series of exhibitions held in Czech Republic. Figubo 

cooperate with Animefest (Animefest.CZ is the oldest 

and largest anime and manga convention in the 

Czech Republic, organized by a non-profit organization 

Brno otaku). 

Animefest gives opportunity to make exhibitions 

and to publish articles in its magazine FestZin. Unfortunately 

the Figubo website is not yet finished, 

but it should be soon (we are hardly working on the 

translation to different languages).

Kappamikez has been an anime fan way back before 

when he was in elementary school, but it was 

in 2014 that he started to collect figures and figurines. 

He started to collect figures mainly because 

he was influenced by his friends in university having 

a wide collection of varying figure lines such as 

Nendoroids, Figma, PVCs, Gundam, and so on. 

Kappamikez takes his first figure photo using a 

point-and-shoot camera with having no prior 

knowledge of photography. He discovered figure 

photography from various sources such as Figure 

Photo Studio, Nendonesia, MyFigureCollection, etc. 

Ever since, he self-learned photography in order to 

improve himself in taking better shots of his figures 

and his wonderful hobby.

I started collecting in the end of 2010. 

At that time, I didn’t know anything 

about figures nor brands. All I wanted 

was to give a bigger meaning than 

leave them inside the boxes. I always 

enjoyed photography, so I started to 

take pictures of my very tiny collection. 

After then I started to look after other 

figures photos and I met awesome people 

that inspired me. And then I met my 

husband, HunterXv2, and I made him 

like this world as much as I do! And our 

collection grown up strong. It’s a passion 

that we enjoy together.

Hi everyone, I’m Etienne from France ! In early 

2011, I was looking for something to put 

myself in the photo, that’s when I discovered 

the nendoroid. I instantly fell in love with 

these cute figurines and now my collection 

is significant! Make funny pictures is one of 

my favorite things, mixing nendoroid, creating 

dioramas and set comical scenes. 

I love going out with my nendoroid, but it’s 

always dangerous, some of them are damaged 

following different trips... But I always 

draw beautiful pictures, and that all that I 

want : immortalize these scene with my figurines 

is a real pleasure now. Feel free to start 

shooting, it’s only happiness :D

Hello, I am Bobo Magroto, Local Australian and 

fellow (and rookie) toy photographer, I began 

my hobby by following another photographer 

and sister, known by AwesomeAlexis1. 

Beginning the adventure of collecting and picture 

taking in 2012 after being introduced to 

Instagram with only an iPhone. Where it later 

branched onto Facebook and DeviantArt and 

upgraded to the Canon EOS 1100D to this day 

Since the inception, I have had grown with taken 

pictures of different figures, ranging from 

Nendoroids, figmas, scaled and also Funko 

Pops and slowly moving into Lego. While not 

as frequent with my posting, I have managed 

to take some really outstanding shots which I 

love dearly, while at the same time, taking every 

opportunity to learn the art, for it would be a 

bigger open door for self-development 

I would really like to see my works liked and admired 

by many.

Kyleigh Grace Parker (b. 1994) Starting from an early 

age toys weren’t toys. Her room wasn’t simply 

a room. When crossing the threshold, you stepped 

into another world. To her, these figures stepped 

out of their universe and into hers. As she grew 

older the fervor for collecting and her creativity 

reached new heights. After meeting who would be 

her husband, Kyle, in early 2012,. They soon found 

they shared a deep love for all things anime, video 

games, and general geekery. Her passion and ingenuity 

were then compounded by sharing that life 

together. 

Under the moniker CaptainDangerous, camera in 

hand, and slivers of what made her life so magical, 

she started to plow a path in the toy photography 

community. She currently spends her time with her 

Husband, taking photos, editing and tackling the 

worlds toughest bosses. Accompanied by their dog, 

Scout, and their cat, Sir Hammerlock, they continue 

to plunge into new avenues of toy collecting and 

photography.

Gale XV is a figure photographer and collector 

from Toronto, Canada. He started figure collecting 

in 2008 before moving to Toronto in 2010. His 

interest in the hobby came back in 2012 starting 

from figma, doll customizing, gunpla, then with 

Nendoroids and PVCs today. The figure photography 

started when he was customizing my gunplas, 

and came across photos of other anime figures 

with dioramas from the figure photography 

community around the world, which inspired him 

to give it a try. 

Eventually, he started doing photos through 

phone camera and went on full steam last April 

2015. The works of the figure photographers 

worldwide continue to inspire him to keep the 

creativity going, and bring them to life. Learning 

from authors like C.S. Lewis, and G.K. Chesterton 

became an inspiration for the imagination. Also 

the things he learned from summer school last 

July about the arts helped a lot to create and develop 

themes until it became a personal project. 

Today, he still continues to learn from these writers 

and experiences to develop more ideas.

My name is Lexy, i’m from Australia and have 

been collecting figures since 2010. I’ve been taking 

photos of my toys for many years, however I 

really started to embrace the hobby in 2012 when 

someone on IG pointed me to the toycrewbuddies 

community. From there I discovered the toy 

photography communities on instagram and fell 

in love with the hobby. 

From there I have discovered so many inspirational 

photographers and learned so much about my 

camera and composing photos that give life to 

my figures. 

I am a fan of natural light and often enjoy heading 

outside for shots, but I am learning more about 

indoor lighting and dioramas!

I’m an Italian student of Philosophy fond of Japanese 

culture, manga and anime. From the year 2012 

I united two great passions, photography and figure 

collection, giving origin to something completely 

new which is rendering me great satisfactions. 

My intent is to extract, in the best way, the soul of 

my figures creating scenery and atmospheres that 

fit perfectly, playing with the dimensions and the 

perspectives, at times helping myself adding some 

effect in post production.

As a techie and professional photographer 

who collects Nendoroids, it’s all 

but natural to photograph these cute 

little characters. My photography style 

varies so you’ll see photos that are 

taken both indoors and outdoors, and 

with all sorts of background ranging 

from diorama to digital screens. I believe 

that while having a distinct style is 

good, having a variety does make it unpredictable 

and giving viewers something 

to look forward to.

I am an art director who happens to 

have fallen inlove with figures and 

scaled statues. I’ve long been an Anime 

fan during my childhood but recently 

found out about figures last 2013. Since 

then, I started to make it my inspiration 

to keep myself motivated during work.

Excalibur and it slowly started
