DRY ICE CLEANING
DRY ICE CLEANING
Ice cold in the face of dirt – gentle on surfaces.
Lots of parts and machines are difficult to clean – casting moulds, extruders, processing machines in the food and plastics industries.
Whenever water and steam cannot be used as cleaning agents, for example due to a risk of corrosion. Or if residues from blasting
material such as sand or glass must be avoided. For hygiene reasons or because of sensitive surfaces. Or to avoid time-consuming
clear-ups, reassembly and polishing after cleaning. Kärcher closes this gap with the powerful Ice Blasters.
1 Advantages of dry ice blasting
Cleaning without disassembling
Machines do not have to be disassembled for cleaning. The pellets
easily reach into even the smallest nooks and crannies.
Short machine downtimes
thanks to fast and effective cleaning.
Environmentally friendly cleaning
without additional chemicals or spray agents.
Surfaces are not damaged
No residues
Dry ice sublimates to CO₂ without residue. It leaves no residue, such
as spray agents or waste water.
2 Cleanliness = cold times acceleration
The Ice Blaster accelerates the dry ice pellets, which are up to 3 mm in size,
with compressed air to over 150 m/s. With the coldness of –79°C, the dirt
freezes and cracks. The dry ice pellets ejected at a high speed can then
remove the dirt easily. A highly effective method for removing almost any
dirt in a way that is gentle on materials.
3 From carbon dioxide to ice
In the production process, liquid carbon dioxide flows into the press cylinder
of the pelletiser and as a result of the pressure drop turns to dry ice snow.
A hydraulic cylinder condenses this dry ice snow, which is then pressed by
an extruder plate. This creates small rods of dry ice which then break into
pellets.
4 Safety, convenience and practicality are built-in
Kärcher’s Ice Blasters provide the right solution for every application. The
machines’ robust structure and reliable technology cannot fail to impress. A
host of features, such as residual ice discharge, a cleverly designed protective
handle, lockable blasting parameters, integrated water separator and many
more, make everyday work significantly easier.
