Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gene Sirmon of Brandon, Mississippi, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Shelby Taylor, to Mr. Bradley Devon Thomas of
Holly Springs, North Carolina. Bradley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Thomas
of Noxapater, Mississippi and Ms. Barbara Novoa Walton of Tampa, Florida.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Worthen of
Monroe, Louisiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene A. Sirmon of Brandon, Mississippi.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Devon Thomas and
Mrs. Blanca Soto.
Miss Sirmon is a 2008 honor graduate of Brandon High School. She graduated
summa cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2012 with a degree in
psychology and was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She is also a 2014 graduate of
University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she received a BSN as a registered
nurse and served as president of the school of nursing. She is employed at Duke
University Children’s Hospital in the bone marrow transplant unit.
Mr. Thomas is a 2008 graduate of Winston Academy and attended Mississippi
State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In 2007, he
joined the Mississippi National Guard. He fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom from
2009-2010 and Operation Enduring Freedom from 2012-2013. He is currently
employed by the United States Army, where he is stationed at Fort Bragg.
The couple will exchange vows December 19, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at First United
Methodist Church in Brandon, Mississippi, with the reception to follow at the
Northpointe Red Barn in Jackson, Mississippi.
